Indonesia's biodiversity holds great potential for drug development, including through the use of traditional medicinal plants such as tapak liman (Elephantopus scaber L.), suruhan (Peperomia pellucida L. Kunth), and temu ireng (Curcuma aeruginosa Roxb.). These plants have been used in traditional medicine and are known to contain bioactive compounds with potential anticancer properties. Tapak liman contains compounds capable of inducing apoptosis in cancer cells. Suruhan is known to have cytotoxic and immunomodulatory effects, while temu ireng contains compounds with antioxidant and anticancer activity. This study aims to identify and quantify the bioactive compounds in these three plants using Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry (GC-MS) and to explore their therapeutic potential in cancer treatment. The results of GC-MS analysis successfully identified six main compounds that have potential as anticancer agents, namely Phytol, Caryophyllene, Apiol, Germacrone, Germacrene B, and one additional compound. Temu ireng contains Germacrone, Germacrene B, and Caryophyllene, while suruhan contains Caryophyllene, Apiol, and Phytol. Meanwhile, tapak liman shows the presence of bioactive compounds that support cytotoxic activity. The focus of this study is on the interaction of bioactive compounds with the Bcl-2 protein, which plays a role in inhibiting apoptosis in cancer cells. Additionally, molecular analysis revealed that Germacrone, Germacrene B, Caryophyllene, and Apiol can also bind to the p53 protein, known as a guardian of the genome and a trigger for apoptosis. These findings suggest that the three plants have high potential as natural sources of anticancer agents. Further in vitro and in vivo studies are recommended to test the biological efficacy of these compounds in the context of cancer therapy, thereby bridging traditional knowledge with modern scientific approaches in the development of natural-based medications.

The lack of integration between science and local wisdom in science education remains a challenge in developing students' critical thinking skills and cultural literacy. This study aims to analyze the effect of STEM-based science learning integrated with ethnoscience on critical thinking skills and cultural literacy of elementary school students. This research is a quantitative study with a quasi-experimental method using a nonequivalent control group design. Samples were selected purposively and consisted of experimental and control groups. The instruments used include a critical thinking skills test and a cultural literacy questionnaire. Data analysis was performed using a paired sample t-test. The results showed a significant difference in posttest scores between the experimental and control groups, with a significance value of 0.000 <0.005. The average difference was 19.78 points for critical thinking skills (81.14 - 61.36) and 16.86 points for cultural literacy (82.50 - 65.64). This finding suggests that integrating STEM-based science learning with ethnoscience can significantly enhance students' critical thinking skills and cultural literacy. The novelty of this study lies in the learning approach that combines the STEM framework with local ethnoscience values, providing an innovative alternative for shaping students who think reflectively while developing cultural awareness from an early age.

This study aims to describe the lingual units used in the utilization activities of Mbah Tonjong River by the people of Kedung Glatik Hamlet, as well as to examine the relationship between language and local culture reflected in the use of these lingual units. The approach used is qualitative with the method of language ethnography, where data is collected through participatory observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. The analysis was conducted using the Sapir-Whorf ethnolinguistic theory which emphasizes that language shapes people's perspective and socio-cultural reality. The results show that lingual units in activity expressions such as adus kali, jeguran, kungkum, as well as ritual terms such as nazar and munjung not only function as naming activities, but also reflect cultural values, belief systems, and meaning constructions that live in the community. Thus, language in this context becomes an important medium in maintaining cultural identity while representing the community's relationship with their natural and spiritual environment. This research contributes to the development of ethnolinguistic studies and the preservation of local languages and cultures.

Abstrak:
The global expansion of ultra-processed meat products (e.g., sausages, nuggets) faces dual challenges: microbiological safety risks from conventional thermal processing and rising consumer demand for clean-label, nutritious options. High-Pressure Processing (HPP) emerges as a promising non-thermal technology to address these concerns by inactivating pathogens while preserving sensory and nutritional quality. However, its industrial adoption is hindered by significant energy efficiency and scalability constraints. This systematic literature review synthesizes recent research to critically analyze these barriers. Methodologically, we conducted a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) using databases such as Scopus, ScienceDirect, Web of Science, and PubMed, focusing on studies related to High-Pressure Processing (HPP) applications in ultra-processed meats. Our analysis reveals that HPP consumes 2.5–3.2 kWh/kg up to 26× more energy than thermal pasteurization primarily due to hydraulic system demands and adiabatic heat dissipation during batch cycling. Scalability limitations stem from batch-based processing (3–7 min/cycle), vessel size constraints (<500 L), and capital costs reaching $2.5 million per unit, resulting in only 18% adoption by large-scale manufacturers. Energy recovery inefficiencies and product matrix variations (e.g., lipid-protective effects in emulsified meats) further exacerbate these challenges. Emerging solutions include semi-continuous systems (35% throughput increase), pulsed HPP protocols (18% energy reduction), and solar-hybrid installations (40% emission cuts), though economic viability remains problematic. We conclude that while HPP offers unparalleled safety and quality benefits, its scalability and energy intensity require coordinated innovations in process engineering, renewable energy integration, and cooperative industry models to achieve sustainable implementation.
