Seren Village has abundant organic waste potential, particularly banana peel waste generated from banana-processing MSME activities and wood ash resulting from household firewood combustion. To date, this waste has not been optimally utilized and is often discarded, thereby posing potential environmental problems. This study aims to process banana peel waste and wood ash into an innovative, environmentally friendly shoe polish made from natural materials, while also enhancing the economic value and welfare of the community. The research employed a descriptive qualitative method with a case study approach. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation involving the women’s Family Welfare Empowerment Group (PKK) of Seren Village as the target participants. The shoe polish production process includes drying and grinding banana peels, mixing them with a wood ash solution that functions as a natural coloring agent, adding supporting materials, and heating the mixture until a ready-to-use shoe polish is obtained. The results indicate that the shoe polish produced from banana peels and wood ash has a solid texture, is slightly coarse, non-glossy, and has a relatively fast drying time of approximately one minute. In addition, the product shows good resistance to water splashes and does not damage the surface of shoes. The use of natural ingredients makes this shoe polish safer for health. The utilization of this waste has the potential to support MSME development, reduce environmental pollution, and sustainably improve the welfare of the Seren Village community.

This study analyzes the implications of the slogan “returning to the Qur’an,” which is frequently understood as a call to rely directly on the Qur’an in addressing religious and social issues while neglecting essential exegetical disciplines such as tafsir, asbāb al-nuzūl, and other authoritative scholarly frameworks. The discussion is reinforced by the findings of Husnul Maab, a postgraduate student at the Institut Ilmu Al-Qur’an (IIQ), whose thesis on the textuality of Qur’anic interpretation and its relationship to religious diversity in Indonesia highlights the serious problems inherent in literalist approaches, particularly in the interpretation of verses related to jihad and politics. This research employs a qualitative library research method, using relevant literature as the primary source of data and analysis, requiring in-depth understanding and critical engagement with the subject matter. The findings indicate that the slogan “returning to the Qur’an” can function as a form of interpretive distortion when it is not accompanied by adequate scholarly competence. Attempts to deepen Qur’anic understanding without integrating the bayānī (textual), burhānī (rational), and ‘irfānī (ethical–spiritual) approaches tend to result in rigid and reductionist interpretations. Such purely textual readings represent an extreme position that may lead to harmful consequences, including the tendency to label others as unbelievers, sinners, or wrongdoers solely due to interpretive differences. Ultimately, religious understanding shaped by reactive and exclusionary interpretations poses a significant threat to religious pluralism and social harmony in Indonesia.

This study examines the Sufistic dimension in the syafahî interpretation of Habib Muhammad Luthfi bin Yahya regarding the verses of nationality in the Qur’an. Habib Luthfi was chosen as the object because he is a Sufi scholar as well as a national figure who consistently conveys Qur’anic interpretation through oral media, and his ideas demonstrate a combination of Sufi spirituality and nationalism. This study employs a qualitative method with primary data sources in the form of recorded lectures, religious gatherings, and direct interviews, as well as secondary data consisting of scientific literature related to tafsir, Sufism, and nationality. The analysis is carried out through a descriptive-analytical-comparative approach by paying attention to the methodology of tafsir and its Sufistic context. The results of the study indicate that the syafahî interpretation of Habib Luthfi is characterized as Sufistic-thematic with an approach of tafsir bi al-isyâri and bi al-ra’yi al-maqbûl which still rests on the framework of tafsir bi al-ma’tsûr. His interpretation of six verses of nationality emphasizes the value of love for the homeland, obedience to leaders, jihad in social-moral dimensions, the unity of the ummah, collective gratitude in national development, and respect for diversity as part of sunnatullah. Thus, this study affirms that Sufism can function as an ethical foundation of nationality as well as a model of Qur’anic interpretation that is relevant to contemporary Indonesian reality.

This paper examines the anatomy of extremism in Pakistan by analyzing its ideological, socio-economic, and geopolitical dimensions, as well as assessing the efficacy of the state’s counter-extremism responses. Extremism in Pakistan has evolved from sectarian and jihadist origins into a multidimensional threat fueled by ideological radicalization, socio-economic disparity, digital propaganda, and regional instability following the Taliban’s resurgence in Afghanistan. Despite significant tactical successes through military operations such as Zarb-e-Azb and Radd-ul-Fasaad, the state’s strategy remains constrained by weak policy coordination, limited ideological reform, and insufficient civilian engagement. The paper argues that Pakistan’s counter-extremism framework must move beyond reactive security measures toward proactive socio-political transformation. It proposes a reimagined strategic approach centered on five pillars: (1) reframing the National Action Plan (NAP 2.0) with stronger institutional coordination, (2) comprehensive education and madrassa reforms, (3) youth engagement and socio-economic reintegration, (4) digital resilience to counter online radicalization, and (5) regional cooperation through multilateral platforms such as the SCO. The study concludes that enduring resilience against extremism requires a whole-of-nation approach that integrates ideological pluralism, governance reform, and regional diplomacy to transform Pakistan’s counter-extremism policy from containment to long-term stability and inclusive national identity.

Rapid developments in information technology have made laptops an essential device for students, especially those in their final year of study. Choosing the right laptop plays an important role in supporting academic productivity, such as writing theses, analyzing data, and developing software. This study aims to classify the preferences of mathematics students at Gorontalo State University in choosing laptops based on usage characteristics and factors that influence purchasing decisions. The method used is Kernel Discriminant Analysis (KDA) with a Gaussian kernel function and an optimal bandwidth of 0.8. The research data involved 268 respondents divided into training and testing data. The analysis results show that the KDA model has an accuracy rate of 60% on the training data and 52% on the testing data, which indicates the model's ability to recognize student preference patterns despite a decrease in accuracy on new data. Based on the kernel density estimation results, Acer is the most widely used laptop brand, while Zyrex and Apple are rarely chosen. The most influential factor in purchasing decisions is processor specifications, with a contribution of 35.739%, followed by brand, warranty, and price. These findings indicate that hardware characteristics are the main consideration in laptop selection, with most students choosing laptops with Intel Core i5 processors, a minimum of 8GB of RAM, and SSD storage. The results of this study can also be used by universities to provide recommendations for selecting laptops that suit students' academic needs.

Fundamentalism is one of the schools of thought that does not want to accept change in the sense that they oppose renewal. So, they carefully emphasize that the announcement of the prophethood of Muhammad SAW is not something new, but only continues the series of prophets and apostles who preceded him. Meanwhile, radicalism is a group that is often viewed by the West as a terrorist who aims to weaken political authority through jihad. This means that these radical religious movements make jihad one of the methods to achieve their ideals, namely the Islamic system (al-nizām al-Islāmi). In addition, radicals are considered narrow- minded, overly enthusiastic (ultra zeolous), or want to achieve their goals by using violent means. Therefore, it is understandable why most Muslim scholars view radicalism as an unfavorable term and cause misunderstanding. This view is also found in orientalists and Western scholars who understand Islam.

Interpretation of the Qur'an is an effort to understand Allah's verses through various methods, including tafsir bil-ma'tsur, tafsir bil-ra'yi, and tafsir Isyari. Tafsir bil-ma'tsur relies on the Qur'an, hadith, and the understanding of the companions and the tabi'in, carrying strong authority but not without critique regarding the authenticity of its chains of narration and the potential inclusion of Israiliyat. Tafsir bil-ra'yi employs reason and logic, divided into commendable interpretations that adhere to the principles of Quranic exegesis and blameworthy interpretations that often deviate from Islamic law. Meanwhile, tafsir Isyari offers a symbolic and esoteric approach, requiring strict conditions to ensure relevance and alignment with the apparent meaning of the verses. Although scholars have differing opinions regarding the validity of these interpretative methods, they collectively reflect the intellectual richness of Islam in interpreting the Qur'an to meet the spiritual and intellectual needs of the community across different contexts and eras.

This research discusses the central role of the Muslim community in resisting colonial powers in the Indonesian archipelago, focusing on colonization by the Dutch, Spanish, Portuguese, French, British, and Japanese. Islamic teachings, particularly the concepts of jihad, love for the homeland, and resistance to oppression, played a pivotal role in igniting the spirit of resistance. Islamic Sultanates such as Aceh, Demak, and Mataram actively engaged in the struggle, along with the leadership of scholars and the general population. With low literacy rates, the positive transformations during British colonization were limited in their full utilization by the local communities. Although Japan initially attempted to garner support by claiming liberation, it eventually proved to be a harsh colonizer with forced labor programs. This research employs the library research method to explore the dynamics of Muslim resistance against colonizers by utilizing literary sources.

Jihad and Terrorism in the Perspective of Islamic Law (Hidayatussalam and Muhammad Mufti M. Djafar). Jihad and terrorism are two terms that have recently become the focus of international attention. The international community assumes that these two terms are manifested as movements of several activist groups that In Islam there are two sides that cannot be separated. Islamic history has noted that jihad and terrorism are not new phenomena, but each has a different history. Jihad emerged when Islam came, brought by the Prophet SAW, and became popular when the Prophet SAW moved to Medina. Meanwhile, terrorists emerged since the political constellation among the Shi'a which was spearheaded by Hasan bin Sabah, known as a splinter group of the Assassin sect, a splinter of the Shi'a Islᾱmiyyah group which allowed the murder of political opponents from the Bani Seljuq whom they claimed had gone astray in the 11th century and 13th. Jihad and terrorism are two terms that have recently become the focus of international attention. The international community assumes that these two terms, which have become the movements of several activist groups in Islam, are two sides that cannot be separated.
