Problem-based learning (PBL) is an instructional model that utilizes problems as a starting point for acquiring and integrating new knowledge. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model on improving students' learning outcomes on the topic of light properties in eighth-grade students at SMP Negeri 1 Karanganyar during the 2022/2023 academic year. This research employed a quasi-experimental approach using a Randomized Control-Group Posttest-Only Design. Data collection methods included the administration of questionnaires, pretests and posttests, and oral interviews. Based on the results of the research, it can be concluded that the Problem-Based Learning model significantly influences students' learning outcomes on the topic of light properties. This is indicated by the t-test results, where tcount = 2.064 and ttable = 2.006 with df = 52. Since tcount > ttable (2.064 > 2.006), the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted, and the null hypothesis (Ho) is rejected. These findings demonstrate that the Problem-Based Learning model has a significant positive effect on students' learning outcomes in the topic of light properties among eighth-grade students at SMP Negeri 1 Karanganyar during the 2022/2023 academic year.

Learning achievement is every learning activity carried out by students which will result in a change in themselves. The learning outcomes obtained by students are measured based on differences in behavior before and after learning is carried out. The economic conditions of students' families at SMP Negeri 2 Binjai have a significant influence on student learning achievement. Many students who come from families with economically disadvantaged backgrounds face various challenges that hinder the learning process. Financial limitations often mean they do not have adequate access to educational resources, such as books, the internet, and additional tutoring which can help improve understanding of subject matter. This research uses the Apriori method as a problem solving method, namely to correlate between Family Socio-Economics, Activities Students Outside the School Environment and Level of Student Learning Motivation with Student Achievement in class. If data A, G, K → O with Support 30% and Confident 100% and S*C value 30%. So, if a student from a family with an income of less than Rp. 1,000,000 who take part in extracurricular activities outside of school, and have family-driven motivation, will have academic achievement with good report cards. The flipped classroom model has gained significant attention as an innovative pedagogical approach, particularly in enhancing student engagement and learning outcomes. This study investigates the effectiveness of a video-based flipped classroom in improving students' academic performance and active participation during in-person classes. The research employed a quasi-experimental design, with two groups: one experiencing the flipped classroom approach, and the other following traditional lecture-based instruction. Data were collected through pre- and post-tests to assess learning outcomes, as well as an observation rubric to measure student participation. Results indicated that the flipped classroom group showed a 17% improvement in learning outcomes compared to the traditional group. Furthermore, the flipped classroom group exhibited twice the level of active participation, as measured by the rubric. These findings suggest that the flipped classroom model is effective in fostering a more interactive and participatory learning environment, where students engage with content before class and apply their knowledge through discussions and problem-solving activities during in-class sessions. The study also highlights the importance of video-based learning in preparing students for active participation and the role of the teacher as a facilitator in flipped classrooms. Despite the promising results, the study acknowledges several limitations, including reliance on technology and students' readiness for independent learning. The study concludes with recommendations for teacher training and future research to further explore the effectiveness of flipped classrooms across diverse educational contexts.
