Reading plays an important role in building a literate generation that is able to improve academic skills, broaden horizons and maintain local cultural identity. However, the low interest in reading in Indonesia, especially among students, is a big challenge. Internal factors, such as student motivation, and external factors, such as family and school support, are highly influential. Strategies such as reading for pleasure, edutainment and the School Literacy Movement are effective in fostering a reading culture as well as shaping students' characters, such as honesty, empathy and critical thinking. Challenges in implementation include limited reading materials, teacher training, technology support and collaboration with the community. Strategic steps, such as enrichment of reading materials, intensive teacher training and community involvement, are needed to overcome them. With good literacy, students can think critically, have character and contribute positively. This research uses a qualitative approach through a literature study to examine the importance of literacy culture.

Children's interest in reading in Indonesia is still a big challenge, although there are many efforts to improve it. Many factors influence, such as lack of access to interesting books, more dominant gadget play habits, and also an environment that is less supportive of reading habits. However, children's interest in reading in Indonesia can grow if they are introduced to relevant and interesting books, and encouraged to read from an early age. To foster an interest in reading, children need to be given the opportunity to find the type of reading that suits their interests and age. Books that are exciting and easy to understand can be a bridge so that they are more interested in reading. In addition, a supportive school and family environment, such as providing special time to read and discuss books, also plays a very important role in fostering positive reading habits. This research is qualitative with informants from the Principal and supporting informants for librarians, teachers and students at Nurul Hadina Junior High School. Data were collected using observation, interviews and documentation. The results of the study show that Nurul Hadina Junior High School plays an active role in increasing students' interest in reading through the school library. The role of the subjects in this library is (1) teaching how to find information, (2) improving writing skills, (3) helping independent learning, (4) improving reading habits, (5) helping with schoolwork, (6) critical thinking skills.

Teachers' skills in opening and closing lessons have an important role in creating an effective and conducive learning atmosphere, especially in supporting the development of children's creativity. Opening the lesson in an interesting way can arouse students' curiosity, motivate them, and prepare their minds to receive the material being taught. Meanwhile, closing lessons creatively provides opportunities for students to reflect on learning, strengthen understanding, and develop innovative new ideas. Teachers can use various strategies in both stages, such as the use of interactive media, exploration-based activities, and reflective approaches. Opening lessons that are relevant and contextual helps create a closer connection between students and the learning material. In addition, creative closure encourages children to think critically, analyze information, and produce creative solutions to various problems. Thus, the skills of opening and closing a lesson serve not only as a technical element in teaching, but also as a way to develop students' overall creative potential. Teachers who are skilled in this aspect are able to create interesting, interactive and meaningful learning experiences, thus supporting the development of children's creativity to face future challenges.

Active learning strategies are considered one of the most effective approaches in creating meaningful, participatory learning processes that enhance students’ intrinsic motivation. In the context of Fiqh learning, the implementation of active learning strategies plays a crucial role because Fiqh not only requires cognitive understanding but also involves strengthening attitudes and internalizing religious values. Traditional teacher-centered learning methods often lead to passive participation, boredom, and a lack of motivation among students. Therefore, the use of active learning strategies—such as group discussions, simulations, problem-solving activities, and experiential learning—can encourage students to participate more actively, think critically, and develop a stronger motivation to achieve better learning outcomes. This study aims to describe how active learning strategies can improve students’ motivation in Fiqh subjects. The analysis shows that engaging students directly in learning activities increases their attention, interest, and sense of responsibility in understanding the material. Additionally, two-way interactions between teachers and students create a more dynamic and enjoyable learning atmosphere. Thus, active learning strategies serve as a relevant and effective approach to enhancing learning motivation and improving the overall quality of Fiqh education.

The application of the philosophy of progressive education within the Merdeka Curriculum aims to create a more student-centered education system that encourages active and contextual learning. Progressivism emphasizes the importance of hands-on experiences and the development of critical thinking skills through real projects and discussions. In the context of the Merdeka Curriculum, this approach allows students to explore their interests and talents more independently, with teachers acting as facilitators guiding the learning process. Through project-based learning, collaboration, and authentic assessment, the Merdeka Curriculum provides students with the opportunity to explore their interests and talents. This research identifies various strategies that educators can adopt to integrate the principles of progressivism, such as using active learning methods and allowing freedom in choosing learning materials. The implementation of the progressive philosophy presents several challenges, including teachers' readiness to adopt new roles, the need to adjust the curriculum to local contexts, and the availability of adequate resources. However, this application also offers significant opportunities to enhance the quality of education by producing graduates who are more adaptive, creative, and capable of solving complex problems. This study highlights how the application of progressive philosophy in the Merdeka Curriculum can increase student motivation, develop 21st-century skills, and prepare them for future challenges. Therefore, it is essential to continuously evaluate and develop this approach to align with the evolving times and national educational needs.

The role of teachers is crucial in enhancing the competence and quality of learning in schools. The lack of learning resources, such as books and the unavailability of libraries, hinders teachers from accessing quality learning materials, which impacts the effectiveness of their teaching. Community service activities were conducted to address these challenges by providing books for teachers and establishing reading corners. This initiative aims to improve teachers' competencies to achieve quality learning and increase students' reading interest at SDN 1 Margajaya. The implementation of the activities involved interviews and observations with the teachers at SDN Margajaya. The community service resulted in the successful procurement of books for teachers, which enhances their knowledge and competencies for delivering higher-quality education. Another outcome of the initiative is the establishment of a reading corner that accommodates students' needs for accessing reading materials, thereby increasing their interest in reading. As a result, students' understanding of the importance of reading for expanding their knowledge has significantly improved.

The importance of curriculum administration in educational institutions, which includes the selection of materials, teaching methods, and assessments that are in accordance with educational goals and student needs. Curriculum administration plays a role in ensuring that the curriculum is well structured and organized through various levels of planning, implementation, and supervision. Curriculum evaluation is also an important part of education management, aiming to collect information about the effectiveness of curriculum implementation and the impact of learning outcomes. In addition, this journal highlights the role of teachers in curriculum administration as implementers, adapters, developers, and researchers. The presence of artificial intelligence (AI) technology presents an opportunity for educators to carry out a learning process that focuses on the needs, interests, and learning styles of students, because the independent curriculum requires educators to carry out differentiated learning as an initiative in facilitating students, especially in Pancasila education, which incidentally is still carried out by conventional models or methods.
