Reflection : Islamic Education Journal 2025 Asosiasi Riset Ilmu Pendidikan Agama dan Filsafat Indonesia

Islamic education plays an important role in forming perfect human beings through the integration of character values and aqidah in the learning process. In the context of basic education, this integration is becoming increasingly relevant amidst the challenges of globalization and digital influences that can disrupt the formation of students' morals. This study aims to examine the strategy of integrating character and moral education in Islamic learning, both in face-to-face and online learning, and to evaluate its impact on the development of students' personalities. The method used is library research by analyzing relevant academic literature, both in the form of books, journals, and scientific articles. The results of the study indicate that effective integration of character and aqidah education requires the active role of teachers as role models, an adaptive curriculum, and a school environment that supports Islamic values. However, challenges such as lack of teacher training, unsystematic evaluation, and the influence of digital culture are obstacles that need to be overcome. In conclusion, the integration of character and aqidah education in Islamic learning has been proven to have a positive impact on the formation of students' morals and personalities, but its success is highly dependent on a holistic evaluation approach and the involvement of all parties, including teachers, parents, and the community.

Tarakan City as an archipelago with high maritime activity has a significant risk of water accidents, yet students' swimming skills are still low. This study aims to: (1) evaluate the context of swimming learning in the PJOK curriculum, (2) assess input readiness (teachers, facilities, costs), (3) analyze the learning implementation process, and (4) measure learning outcomes related to student skills and safety. The research used a descriptive qualitative approach with the Context, Input, Process, Product (CIPP) evaluation model. Data sources include principals (4 people), physical education teachers (4 people), and students (16 people) from four junior high schools in Tarakan City. The research instruments were semi-structured interview guidelines, observation sheets, and curriculum document analysis. Data collection techniques were conducted through participatory observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation studies. The data were analyzed qualitatively using cost and benefit analysis techniques to identify the suitability of the program to the needs. The results show that the context of swimming learning is in accordance with the curriculum, but the swimming pool facilities depend on public facilities with limited access. The learning process is in accordance with the lesson plan, but the practice time (2 times/semester) is not sufficient to master the skills. Product evaluation results indicated a good understanding of water safety theory, but low practical swimming skills. Recommendations: (1) Increased frequency of swimming practice, (2) collaboration with local government for the provision of school swimming pools, and (3) teacher training in adaptive teaching methods for beginner students.

Arabic language instruction has traditionally centered on classical Islamic texts, emphasizing rote memorization, mastery of grammar (naḥw), and rhetorical eloquence (balāghah), which, while preserving linguistic authenticity, often fail to meet the evolving educational demands of the 21st century. In an age marked by rapid technological advancement and shifting pedagogical paradigms, there is a critical need to reform Arabic teaching by integrating traditional methods with digital tools and interdisciplinary approaches. This study adopts a qualitative, literature-based methodology to explore both the foundational principles of classical pedagogy and recent innovations, including learning management systems, gamification, and AI-enhanced learning technologies. Through comparative analysis, the research identifies key disjunctions and overlaps between heritage-based teaching and modern digital practices. From this synthesis, the study proposes a reconstructed pedagogical model built on four core elements: cognitive-linguistic scaffolding, digital integration, sociocultural contextualization, and multidisciplinary instruction. This integrative approach not only fosters greater student engagement but also promotes character development in line with the objectives of Islamic education (maqāṣid al-sharīʿah). Furthermore, it supports a more adaptive and culturally responsive learning environment, contributing to broader educational reform efforts aimed at holistic learning. The findings suggest that such a model is particularly well-suited to Islamic higher education contexts while also being adaptable to global academic systems. By bridging the gap between tradition and innovation, this framework offers both a theoretical and practical foundation for modernizing Arabic language pedagogy. It holds implications for curriculum development, instructional strategies, and educational policy, advocating for a future-oriented yet culturally rooted approach to language education that respects heritage while embracing necessary transformation.

Learning evaluation plays a central role in ensuring the success of the educational process, especially in mathematics learning at Vocational High Schools (SMK) that require integration between theory and practice. This study aims to comprehensively analyze the implementation of formative and summative evaluations at SMK N 6 Padang. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, data was obtained through observations, in-depth interviews, and document analysis. The results show that formative evaluations are carried out systematically through essay tests, contextual quizzes, discussions, and observations of student participation. This evaluation can monitor learning progress, encourage active engagement, and strengthen students' conceptual understanding. Meanwhile, summative evaluations are consistently applied using multiple-choice questions that encompass low-order thinking skills (LOTS) to high-order thinking skills (HOTS). in line with the learning objectives and curriculum. Both forms of evaluation have proven to be very effective, based on teacher observations and feedback. Although not all aspects were followed up explicitly, the assessment mechanisms applied reflect the principles of modern evaluation that are adaptive, fair, and competency-based. It can thus be concluded that the evaluation is running very effectively at 88.88%, and the evaluation implementation at SMK N 6 Padang not only succeeded in measuring student achievement but also became an instrument to strengthen the quality of learning relevant to the demands of industry and the developments in 21st-century education.

This community service activity aims to optimize the understanding and skills of elementary school (SD) teachers in Tarik District in implementing innovative learning based on deep learning. The concept of deep learning in the context of education does not solely refer to the use of technology, but also includes a deep, reflective, and meaningful learning approach. Through this approach, teachers are expected to be able to create a learning environment that encourages students to think critically, creatively, and be able to collaborate effectively. This activity was attended by 34 elementary school teachers from eight schools in the Tarik District area. In addition to providing training related to deep learning concepts and strategies, such as project-based learning and problem-based learning, this activity also introduced the use of OLabs (Online Labs), which is a virtual laboratory platform that can be accessed for free and is specifically designed to support the implementation of online experimental learning. The use of OLabs provides an efficient and flexible alternative, especially for educational units that have limited laboratory facilities. Based on the results of the evaluation, there was a significant increase in teachers' understanding of innovative learning principles, as well as a commitment to implement the approach in an adaptive manner and in accordance with the context of each school. This activity is expected to be the starting point in efforts to strengthen the pedagogic capacity of teachers, in order to support the implementation of the Independent Curriculum and answer the challenges of 21st century education.
