Creative writing plays an important role in developing students’ imagination, self- expression, and language competence in the digital era. However, many learners still struggle with generating ideas, maintaining motivation, and gaining confidence in writing. This study aims to analyze how the use of Wattpad, viewed through the Social Constructivist framework, can enhance students’ creative writing skills, motivation, and confidence. This research applies a qualitative descriptive approach supported by survey data from 30 high school students who actively use Wattpad. The results show that 95.7% of respondents have used Wattpad before, with most of them using it to read and learn from other writers. A total of 60.9% of respondents stated that reading other writers’ works was the most helpful for improving their writing, while 17.4% highlighted peer comments and feedback as additional support. Despite its benefits, 43.5% of students mentioned difficulty in organizing ideas as their main challenge. Open-ended responses revealed that positive feedback and community interaction on Wattpad helped increase students’ motivation and confidence in writing. The discussion emphasizes that the social interaction and feedback features of Wattpad foster collaborative learning, aligning with Vygotsky’s concepts of scaffolding and the Zone of Proximal Development. These findings suggest that integrating Wattpad into writing instruction can effectively enhance students’ creativity, critical thinking, and confidence in producing literary works.

The evaluation of Indonesian language instruction at the junior secondary level remains predominantly oriented toward lower-order thinking skills, thereby constraining the advancement of students’Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS). This situation necessitates the development of comprehensive assessment tools that are coherently aligned with the Merdeka Curriculum. The present study introduces a model for constructing HOTS-oriented assessment instruments targeting procedural text writing in Phase D. The development process was systematically organized through several stages: translating learning outcomes into measurable indicators, preparing assessment blueprints, creating item cards, formulating scoring rubrics for attitudes, knowledge, and skills, and finally analyzing and interpreting the assessment data. These instruments were specifically designed to capture students’ analytical, evaluative, and creative abilities in producing procedural texts that are logical, coherent, and effective. Findings demonstrate that the instruments provide an objective and holistic representation of students’ competency attainment. In summary, the proposed HOTS-based assessment model for procedural text writing is practical, methodical, and contextually relevant, serving as a valuable framework for evaluating Indonesian language learning in accordance with the Merdeka Curriculum principles.

This community service program contributes to the Indonesian language curriculum, particularly the short story writing curriculum. This community service program was conducted at Urumb State Junior High School in Merauke, with eight teachers participating. The school faced challenges in assessing the lack of objectivity, specifically the use of assessment instruments that align with the learning objectives. Furthermore, students' short story writing skills were still very low. This community service program enabled teachers to develop valid and reliable short story writing assessment instruments. The program took the form of a workshop, which included outreach through training, mentoring, and discussions with the implementation team. During the training phase, the implementation team provided students with an initial understanding of the importance of objective assessment. This was because, in addition to identifying student abilities, teachers could also assess the success of the teaching and learning process in the classroom. During the mentoring phase, the team provided direct guidance to train teachers in developing short story assessment instruments for student assignments. The questions in the assignments are written in language that is easy for students to understand. After developing the assessment instrument, which is the student assignment, a group discussion is held to refine the short story writing assessment instrument. Furthermore, students can improve their short story writing skills through the assignments in the assessment instrument.

This research examines the mentoring of nationalistic activities by students from the Al-Azhar Menganti Gresik Institute and field supervisors at MI Darunnajah Lebani Suko, Wringinanom District, Gresik Regency, in commemoration of Heroes' Day. Thru a descriptive qualitative approach, this program involves four main activities: the red and white parade, patriotic love songs, little warrior strokes (coloring and writing hero stories), and a colossal drama of patriotic fervor. These activities are creatively designed and based on direct experience to instill nationalistic values in elementary school students. The research results show a significant improvement in students in terms of courage, discipline, creativity, cooperation, and respect for national symbols such as the flag and national anthem. Collaboration between students as facilitators, teachers as pedagogical directors, and the school environment creates a conducive learning ecosystem where participatory methods are more effective than conventional approaches. This experiential learning approach not only enhances cognitive understanding of the struggles of national and local heroes but also builds emotional empathy and social skills. Positive impacts include high student enthusiasm, reduced learning boredom, and character strengthening in accordance with the Pancasila Student Profile, such as mutual cooperation and integrity. Overall, this mentoring program serves as a relevant model for non-formal character education that can be replicated in other schools to strengthen nationalism from an early age amidst the challenges of post-pandemic globalization and individualism.

This study aims to analyze the improvement of students’ knowledge and the alignment of the Civic Education learning model with the characteristics of third-grade students at SDN Kadipiro. The research problem arises from the tendency of Civic Education in elementary schools to rely heavily on lecture-based instruction, which results in low student engagement and limited comprehension of abstract concepts such as rights and obligations. A descriptive qualitative approach was employed through observations, interviews, and documentation to obtain a comprehensive picture of the learning process, the instructional model applied, and classroom dynamics. The findings reveal that the teacher implemented a game-based Discovery Learning model that emphasizes exploration, categorization, verification, and independent conclusion-making by students. This model proved effective, as evidenced by 85% of students being able to understand and distinguish examples of rights and obligations in accordance with the Civic Education learning outcomes. The study also indicates that game-based learning is more compatible with the students’ predominant visual and kinesthetic learning tendencies, enabling them to maintain focus more effectively than when using traditional lecture methods. However, several challenges emerged, including variations in students’ writing literacy skills and the absence of a structured assessment rubric. These findings underscore the need for flexible instructional design, the integration of concrete learning media, and the implementation of more systematic formative assessment practices. Future research is recommended to develop differentiated instructional strategies and to utilize more diverse media to accommodate the needs of heterogeneous classrooms.

This study explores the role of English in supporting the academic and professional development of management students, based on the lecturer’s reflections as both lecturer and researcher. As English becomes increasingly important in global education and employment, many students are required to read academic materials, complete assignments, and communicate using English. This study focuses on how English for Specific Purposes (ESP), especially Business English, helps students build discipline-related skills and prepare for real workplace communication. Using an autoethnographic approach, the researcher collected data from self-interviews, reflective teaching journals, and informal student feedback over one semester. Thematic analysis was used to identify patterns in the lecturer’s experiences and observations. The findings show that English supports students’ academic growth by helping them understand textbooks, research articles, and business case studies. Students gained confidence in reading and presenting academic information after completing guided tasks. The results also indicate that ESP based on activities such as email writing, meeting simulations, and presentations strengthened students’ employability skills. These tasks helped students feel more prepared for internships and early career responsibilities. Additionally, the study highlights the importance of reflective teaching. By analyzing classroom challenges and student needs, the lecturer was able to improve teaching strategies, select more authentic materials, and provide better support for learners. This research shows that integrating ESP with employability goals can create meaningful learning experiences for management students. When English teaching is connected to real professional contexts, students develop both language proficiency and practical communication skills. The study also encourages lecturers to use reflection as a tool to enhance teaching quality and better support students’ academic and career preparation.

This study aims to describe the implementation of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model in teaching personal and official letter writing, and to examine its impact on improving the writing skills of Grade VII B students at SMP Negeri 2 Banjarmasin. The study is motivated by students’ difficulties in distinguishing the structure and language style of personal and official letters, as well as their low engagement in the learning process. This research employed a descriptive quantitative approach using a One Group Pretest-Posttest design. The instruments included writing tests (pre-test and post-test) and observation sheets to assess students’ activities and attitudes. The results indicate that PBL positively influences students' writing abilities. This is evidenced by a significant increase in the average post-test scores compared to the pre-test, along with improvements in critical thinking, collaboration, and independence. Students also demonstrated better understanding of the structural and linguistic features of both types of letters. Thus, the PBL model is recommended as an effective instructional strategy to enhance the quality of writing instruction, particularly within the framework of the Kurikulum Merdeka.

Scientific writing plays an important role in developing knowledge and shaping the intellectual character of students. Through academic writing, students not only learn to organize ideas systematically but are also trained to think critically, analytically, and reflectively. This study employs a literature review method to examine the concepts, processes, and originality of scientific work based on academic theories and established scholarly standards. The findings indicate that writing scientific papers is not merely an academic requirement but also a reflection of logical, objective, and ethical thinking. A high-quality scientific work must demonstrate originality, intellectual honesty, and the proper application of scientific methods—from problem formulation and data collection to analysis and conclusion. In addition, scientific writing should contribute to the development of knowledge and offer solutions to current issues in society. Therefore, higher education institutions need to strengthen students’ scientific literacy, academic writing skills, and understanding of research ethics. These efforts are essential for fostering an academic culture that upholds integrity, encourages innovation, and prepares young scholars to become responsible and competitive individuals.

This study discusses the innovation of Arabic language learning strategies based on communicative skills that emphasizes mastery of four main aspects, namely listening (istima'), speaking (kalam), reading (qira'ah), and writing (kitabah). The background of the research departs from the problem that Arabic language learning in many educational institutions is still dominated by traditional approaches that focus on memorization and translation. As a result, students have difficulty in applying Arabic actively and communicatively. This research aims to describe the concept of language skills-based learning, identify effective methods, and analyze obstacles and implementable solutions. Using a qualitative approach with descriptive methods through literature studies, observations, and interviews, this study found that language skills-based approaches are more effective in improving communication skills than traditional methods. Methods such as Direct Method, Communicative Approach, Audio-Lingual Method, and Total Physical Response (TPR) have been proven to be able to increase students' participation and language competence. In addition, the use of digital media and interactive applications strengthens the learning process. However, limited resources, lack of interactive media, and lack of practice time are major challenges. This study concludes that technology integration, improving educator competencies, and preparing a practice-based curriculum are the keys to the success of Arabic language learning that is communicative and relevant to the needs of the modern era.
