Radicalism remains a widespread global threat, especially in multicultural countries like Indonesia. Educational institutions play an essential role in countering radical ideologies by shaping students' characters to foster resilience against extremism. This paper explores how the synergy between architectural design, the authenticity of the place, and social adaptive learning through social networks and effective curriculum management contributes to creating an effective anti-radicalism learning environment. Using the Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method, this study examines existing literature on educational architecture, place-based learning, effective learning curriculum and integration of social networks in character education. The review highlights how architectural spaces that encourage collaboration and interaction can help foster inclusivity, open dialogue, and social cohesion—key elements in preventing radicalization. In addition, the concept of authenticity of place, which emphasizes the connection between students and their local cultural heritage, is identified as an important factor in building tolerance and social awareness alongside the implementation of an effective learning curriculum. Through place-based learning, students can develop a stronger sense of identity and belonging so that they are less easily influenced by extremist ideologies. Furthermore, integrating social networks into educational environments is examined for their role in promoting socially adaptive learning. Social platforms provide opportunities for students to engage with diverse perspectives, develop critical thinking, and build empathy—skills that are essential to counter radicalization. The SLR method allows for a comprehensive synthesis of research findings, offering new insights into how educational spaces can be designed to foster anti-radicalism character. This study contributes to the body of knowledge on the relationship between architecture, cultural context, effective curriculum implementation, and digital learning and offers recommendations for educational institutions to enhance their role in preventing radicalization.

This research aims to uncover the symbolic meaning of stupas placed in front of houses of Buddhist communities affiliated with Vihara Mahanama in Semanding Village, Central Java. Stupas as architectural and symbolic elements hold important positions in religious practice and cultural identity of local Buddhist communities. This study employs a qualitative approach using case study methods with ethnographic perspectives. Data collection techniques include field observations, in-depth interviews with Buddhist communities and vihara leaders, and visual documentation. Data were analyzed descriptively-interpretively using symbolic anthropology frameworks and semiotic architecture theory to reveal symbolic meanings contained in the form, placement, and social function of stupas in daily life. The results show that stupas are not merely religious ornaments, but represent multiple layers of meaning: spiritual values, cosmic symbolism, protection, and markers of Buddhist cultural identity in predominantly non-Buddhist environments. Stupa symbolism also reflects processes of cultural adaptation and spirituality rooted in the social dynamics of the Semanding Village community. This research contributes to understanding the integration of Buddhist symbols in contemporary Indonesian society and their role in maintaining religious identity in multicultural contexts, while also providing insights into the domestication of sacred symbols in everyday spaces.

This research examines the opportunities and challenges in the development of Buddhist traditions in Indonesia, with a specific focus on the role of Tri Dharma (三教 Sam Kauw) as a tradition-strengthening element in fortifying Buddhism in Singkawang City, West Kalimantan. The research is grounded in the dynamic development of Buddhism in Indonesia, which has been influenced by modernity and diverse interpretations of teachings. Utilizing a qualitative descriptive method through observation, interviews, and document analysis with religious leaders and Buddhist adherents in Singkawang City, particularly at the historic Vihara Tri Dharma Bumi Raya (established 1873-1878), the findings reveal that the Tri Dharma tradition—integrating Buddhism (佛教), Confucianism (儒教), and Taoism (道教)—holds significant potential in strengthening religious identity and practices through values of wisdom, virtue, and harmony integrated into daily life. The research identifies key opportunities including strong cultural identity, vibrant ritual traditions (Cap Go Meh festival, Tatung rituals), community support structures, and religious tourism potential. However, challenges include limited deep understanding of Tri Dharma teachings among younger generations, influences of popular culture that erode traditional values, pressures of globalization, and modernization impacts. The research implications emphasize the necessity of systematic efforts in socializing and internalizing Tri Dharma teachings through formal and non-formal education, digital media engagement, youth involvement in Vihara activities, tradition documentation and preservation, and inter-Vihara collaboration to ensure Buddhist traditions continue to develop and strengthen their existence in Indonesia's pluralistic society.

This study aims to develop an Islamic Religious Education (PAI) curriculum that incorporates multicultural values to foster religious moderation among students. The proposed curriculum integrates principles of cultural diversity and tolerance into PAI learning materials, allowing students to comprehend Islamic teachings while also appreciating and interacting harmoniously with adherents of other religions. Utilizing a qualitative research method with a phenomenological approach, this study addresses multicultural education as a relatively new phenomenon in PAI courses, emphasized as an essential competency for both lecturers and students. The phenomenological approach seeks to understand the daily lives and intersubjective experiences of the participants, aiming to reveal the meaning of concepts and phenomena as perceived by individuals. Conducted in a natural setting, this approach permits unrestricted interpretation of the phenomenon, granting researchers the freedom to analyze the data comprehensively. The findings indicate that a multicultural PAI curriculum effectively promotes an understanding of religious moderation among students and heightens awareness of the importance of multicultural perspectives in religion. These results are intended to guide educators and policymakers in creating a more inclusive PAI curriculum, thereby supporting the development of a peaceful and harmonious society.
