This research examines the effectiveness of using a repertoire class as a learning strategy in the Media Music course of the Film and Television Production Study Program at the Indonesian Institute of the Arts, Yogyakarta. The course, offered in the fourth semester, focuses on film music creation, mood development, and instrumental understanding. The study applies the Classroom Action Research method with the primary goal of improving students’ comprehension of film scoring components. Pre-cycle findings showed that students’ understanding was relatively low under previous teaching approaches. To address this, the repertoire class method was introduced. This strategy emphasises active learning through sound samples from various instruments, allowing students to directly experience and analyse how musical elements shape the mood of a film. The interactive design of this method provides not only theoretical insights but also practical, auditory experiences that deepen learning. The research was carried out in three CAR cycles, each evaluating student progress and adjusting strategies as needed. Results demonstrate a notable improvement in learning outcomes. The percentage of students achieving Excellent and Very Good categories increased significantly, while the number in the Poor category decreased. These findings confirm that repertoire classes, especially those incorporating instrumental sound samples, are highly effective in enhancing students’ understanding of the emotional dimension of film music. In conclusion, this approach enriches the learning experience and equips students with both technical knowledge and emotional sensitivity in film scoring. By integrating practice-based methods, the repertoire class proves to be a valuable strategy in media music education.

Learning style theories have long been used to understand individual differences in learning processes. Models such as VAK (Visual, Auditory, Kinesthetic) and Multiple Intelligences offer frameworks for adapting instructional strategies to students’ preferences. However, these approaches have been criticized for their reductionism and limited empirical validity, often neglecting the holistic nature of human learning. In contrast, the Islamic concept of fitrah provides a more comprehensive perspective, encompassing intellectual, spiritual, moral, and emotional dimensions in an integrated manner. This conceptual article aims to analyze and integrate Western learning style theories with Islamic perspectives to develop a more holistic learning paradigm. Through an extensive literature review and theoretical analysis, the article proposes an integrative model that bridges empirical approaches with spiritual values. Theoretically, this integration enriches academic discourse by connecting two distinct knowledge traditions. Practically, it offers a framework for educators and institutions to design adaptive learning processes that address learner diversity while fostering spiritual and moral development.

Adapting to students’ learning styles is a key factor in enhancing the effectiveness of higher education, particularly in Informatics programs where learning preferences vary widely. This study aims to segment students based on their learning styles using the K-Means clustering algorithm, guided by the VARK model (Visual, Auditory, Read/Write, Kinesthetic). Data were collected from 130 Informatics students, including information on their learning preferences, and processed through normalization techniques. The optimal number of clusters was determined using the Elbow Method and Silhouette Score, and subsequent cluster interpretation was conducted. The results identified three dominant clusters, each representing distinct learning behavior patterns. These clusters were analyzed to recommend tailored instructional strategies for each group. Specifically, Visual learners were found to benefit from graphic-heavy materials, Auditory learners preferred lectures and discussions, Read/Write learners thrived on written content and detailed notes, while Kinesthetic learners responded best to hands-on activities. The findings support the development of adaptive, data-driven teaching approaches that align with the actual learning tendencies of students in Informatics. Moreover, the study demonstrates that the K-Means method is effective in systematically identifying student learning profiles, which can be used to inform instructional improvements. This personalized approach to teaching could significantly enhance learning outcomes by providing students with the most effective educational experiences tailored to their individual learning styles

In addition to the positive findings regarding the effectiveness of instructional videos in enhancing reading skills, this study also highlights the importance of integrating technology into early childhood education. The use of instructional videos provides an engaging and interactive learning experience for children, making the learning process more enjoyable and effective. Children at TK Irama Jaya were able to visualize and connect sounds with letters and words, which is a crucial aspect of developing reading skills at an early age. Furthermore, the study reveals that instructional videos cater to different learning styles, allowing children to absorb information through auditory and visual channels. This multisensory approach enhances retention and understanding, especially for young learners who are just beginning to master reading. The videos also offer repetition and consistency, allowing children to revisit lessons at their own pace, thus reinforcing their learning process. The improvement observed in the post-test scores suggests that instructional videos can serve as a valuable tool in early childhood education, complementing traditional teaching methods. However, the study also indicates that while instructional videos are beneficial, they should be used in conjunction with other pedagogical techniques, such as interactive reading activities and teacher-guided lessons, to maximize learning outcomes. It is recommended that other schools, particularly those in remote or underserved areas, consider incorporating instructional videos into their teaching practices. The accessibility and cost-effectiveness of these videos make them an ideal resource for improving the quality of education in early childhood settings. Further research could explore the long-term effects of instructional videos on reading fluency and other areas of early literacy development.

A landslide disaster is a life-threatening event that can result in loss of life, environmental damage, and property loss, so it is necessary to have self-evacuation capabilities. Self-evacuation capabilities can be improved with the DEMASI method (Video Animation and Simulation). The aim of this research is to determine the effect of DEMASI (Video Animation and Simulation) on the ability to self-evacuate landslides in class X students at SMA Negeri 1 Dongko. Pre-experimental design research design with a one-group pretest-posttest approach without control. The purposive sampling technique obtained 34 respondents from 170 populations. The research instrument used an observation sheet on self-evacuation capabilities for landslide disasters. Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test statistical test with α 0.05. The results of the research before being given DEMASI intervention (Video Animation and Simulation) were that all (100%) respondents had poor abilities, and after the intervention almost all (85.3%) respondents had good abilities. Results: The statistical analysis showed that the p-value was 0.000 < α 0.05, so there was an influence of DEMASI (Video Animation and Simulation) on students' self-evacuation ability for landslide disasters. The DEMASI method (Video Animation and Simulation) combines two methods that are more interesting, effective, and interactive because audiovisuals recorded by optic and auditory nerves are sent to the occipital lobe and temporal lobe to be described and processed, which involves many brain regions and the frontal lobe so that they can influence the respondent's abilities. The DEMASI method can be used as an educational medium for students and other school residents in an effort to improve their ability to self-evacuate in landslide disasters.

Learning to Understand the Content of Recited Poetry is a crucial aspect of literature instruction at the junior high school level. However, field observations indicate that many students struggle to appreciate poetry due to its imaginative and multi-interpretative language (Afiana et al., 2022). This study aims to improve the skill of understanding poetry content through the implementation of a modeling-based learning model using poetry recitation videos for seventh-grade students at SMP Negeri 7 Cilacap. This research adopts a quantitative approach, with subjects consisting of seventh-grade students selected based on their initial achievement, which did not meet the standard of learning mastery. The instruments used include a poetry comprehension skills test and non-test instruments such as observation, interviews, journals, and documentation. The data were analyzed using both descriptive quantitative and qualitative methods. The results indicate that the modeling learning model combined with poetry recitation videos significantly enhanced students' ability to understand the content of poetry. The average score increased from 74.78 to 78.6, exceeding the Minimum Mastery Criteria (KKTP). Improvements were observed in the ability to identify the theme, message, feeling, tone and atmosphere, as well as in the ability to summarize the overall content of the poem. Additionally, there was a positive change in student behavior, with learners becoming more active, confident, and enthusiastic during the learning process. The video presentations played an important role in enthusiastic during the learning process. The video presentations played an important role in stimulating students’ auditory perception and imagination (Arlindo et al., 2022), while the modeling approach encouraged both cognitive and affective engagement (Musfiroh & Kanzunnudin, 2022). These findings affirm that instructional strategies integrating inductive approaches and audio-visual media are effective in enhancing students’ literary appreciation competencies (Sayoga & Nurlatifah, 2023). This study provides practical insights for teachers in designing engaging and effective poetry lessons and recommends further research to examine the effectiveness of similar strategies in broader educational contexts (Utomo et al., 2023).

This research investigates the factors contributing to low understanding of environmental degradation among sixth-grade students at SDN 12 Padang Koto Gadang. The study aims to identify internal and external factors affecting students' comprehension of environmental issues within the IPAS (Natural and Social Sciences) curriculum. Using a qualitative descriptive approach, data were collected through in-depth interviews with the class teacher, classroom observations, and document analysis of lesson plans and student assessment records. The findings reveal that internal factors include low learning motivation, where students perceive environmental materials as mere memorization tasks, and a significant mismatch between students' kinesthetic-visual learning styles (78%) and the predominantly auditory-lecture teaching methods. External factors encompass conventional teaching approaches dominating 85% of classroom time, limited technological infrastructure, and insufficient interactive learning resources. A paradoxical finding shows that while 70% of students claim environmental concern, only 23% consistently practice eco-friendly behaviors, indicating a substantial gap between cognitive knowledge and behavioral application. The study recommends implementing a hybrid learning model combining Problem-Based Learning with local contexts, utilizing simple nature-based media, and establishing strategic community partnerships. These findings contribute to developing more adaptive and contextual teaching methods aligned with Merdeka Curriculum principles for elementary environmental education.
