This study explains the role of educator leaders in cultivating students' adab (moral discipline and etiquette) at two Cambodian Islamic boarding schools, Maahad Tahfiz Darul Ulum (MTDU) and Maahad Tahfiz Darul Hadith (MTDH), in a post-conflict Muslim-minority society. Drawing on classical Islamic theories of character formation, such as the works of Ibnu Miskawaih and Syed Muhammad Naquib Al-Attas, and underpinned by Hallinger's Instructional Leadership Model, this research explores the manner in which leaders act as moral role models and institutionalists in order to transform pupil behavior. In undertaking a qualitative multiple-case study, data were obtained through semi-structured interviews and non-participant observation of eight influential educational leaders. Thematic analysis yielded six prominent leadership roles, including moral modeling, disciplinary enforcement, spiritual mentorship, and institutional innovation through routines and rituals. Despite parental and external cultural pressure oppositional to their endeavor, the leaders demonstrated spiritual resilience in successfully ushering student transformation through relational engagement, moral accountability, and cultural reinforcement. This study contributes to the emerging debate on faith-based leadership and character education with the offer of a contextualized model of Islamic educational leadership for post-conflict and minority-Muslim settings. Practice and policy recommendations include training educational leaders as muaddibin, integrating value-based norms, and recognizing Tahfiz schools as important actors in integral education.

Character formation is a fundamental component of Islamic education, particularly in responding to the growing challenges of moral decline and the weakening of students’ manners in contemporary learning environments. This study aims to analyze the implementation of the classical text Risalat Adab Suluk al-Murid in shaping student character through the integration of seven good habits at SMPIQu Al-Bahjah Cianjur. Employing a descriptive qualitative approach, data were collected through in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation to explore how the values of adab are internalized and reflected in students’ daily behavior. The findings indicate that the learning of this classical text strengthens students’ discipline, respect toward teachers, sense of responsibility, and enthusiasm for learning. The internalization process occurs not only during classroom activities but also through daily routines such as morning habits, worship practices, time management, and social interactions within the school environment. The seven good habits function as a practical framework that reinforces the application of sufistic values taught in the text, allowing students to translate moral teachings into consistent actions. Teachers play a crucial role as role models who guide, demonstrate, and cultivate these values through continuous supervision and exemplary conduct. The study concludes that classical Islamic text-based learning offers an effective strategy for enhancing student character within modern Islamic educational settings. The implications highlight the need for schools to strengthen adab-centered curricula, cultivate ethical school culture, and promote collaboration among teachers, institutions, and families to ensure sustainable character development.

This article thoroughly examines Imam Al-Ghazali's views on Islamic education and adab, with an emphasis on a holistic framework that combines knowledge, faith, charity, and morals to form an insān kāmil (perfect human being).  Al-Ghazali, a scholar from Tus, Persia, in the 11th century, defined education as a process of moral development and purification of the soul. The main goal of education is to obtain worldly and spiritual happiness. He opposes the educational paradigm of modern philosophers which focuses only on rationality. He emphasized that knowledge without adab is like fire which has no light.Adab is the main pillar of the educational process and helps children learn noble qualities such as patience, humility and honesty. This is implemented from an early age through spiritual practices such as dhikr and muhasabah.  In his great works, such as Iḥyā' 'Ulūm ad-Dīn, Ayyuhal Walad, and Tahāfut al-Falāsifah, Al-Ghazali combines rationalism with Sufism. He opposed the dichotomy between worldly knowledge (such as medicine and mathematics) and the hereafter, claiming that revelation provides a balance to prevent misguidance. His educational methods, based on internalizing values, examples, and ethical discussions, support the role of teachers as moral and spiritual role models and students as ethical learners. This thinking is highly relevant to modern education, especially in Indonesia, where a character-based curriculum is implemented by the Ministry of Education and Culture and institutions such as the State Islamic University (UIN) use a holistic approach to address the moral crisis caused by technological advancements. The main challenge lies with educators who lack an understanding of Sufism, which requires intensive training.

In this article, we explore the concept and goals of Islamic education from the perspective of Imam Shafi'i, a great scholar and founder of one of the most important schools of Islamic jurisprudence in history. Based on the Quran and Sunnah, his views offer a balanced perspective on the intellectual and spiritual aspects of the educational profession. He believed that education aims not only to increase one's knowledge but also to develop one's character, morality, and devotion to Allah SWT. He emphasized that true knowledge is knowledge that benefits individuals and society and helps them draw closer to the Creator. According to Imam Shafi'i, Islamic education must combine religious and general knowledge in a balanced way, as both complement each other to shape the whole person. He believed that an educated person must possess not only intellectual intelligence but also high moral and spiritual integrity. He emphasized that academic success is measured not only by a student's ability to understand the subject matter but also by how they apply ethical principles, social responsibility, and a sense of community service. Furthermore, Imam Shafi'i emphasized the importance of maintaining a balance between cognitive, emotional, and intellectual abilities during the pursuit of knowledge. He argued that knowledge without morality loses its foundation, while morality without knowledge loses its foundation. This concept presents Islamic teachings holistically, where knowledge, ethics, and spirituality must be integrated.Imam Syafi'i's views remain relevant today. They can serve as a guide in building a character-based Islamic education system capable of adapting to changing times and addressing global challenges. The education he taught, which encompasses values such as honesty, responsibility, and balance between this world and the hereafter, provides a clear path to producing a generation of educated and noble Muslims who will contribute positively to the world and humanity as a whole.

This study aims to examine the concept of educational interaction between educators and students from the perspective of Shaykh Burhanuddin Al-Zarnuji as presented in his monumental work Ta‘līm al-Muta‘allim. This research is based on the assumption that the success of Islamic education is not only determined by the transfer of knowledge but also by the quality of the spiritual and moral relationship between teacher and student. This research utilizes library research supported by a qualitative descriptive approach, focusing on analyzing the educational values contained in Al-Zarnuji’s classical text and their relevance to the modern educational context. The results show that Al-Zarnuji emphasizes the importance of good manners (adab), sincere intention, respect for teachers, and discipline in learning as the core of effective educational interaction. The relationship between educators and students should be built upon compassion, exemplary conduct, and moral responsibility. This concept remains relevant to contemporary education systems in shaping learners who are both knowledgeable and virtuous. Thus, Al-Zarnuji’s thought contributes significantly to strengthening the humanistic and spiritual paradigm of modern education.

Education serves as an institutional mechanism that can accelerate the development of a nation's character. Factors influencing the decline of the Indonesian nation are the result of mental and moral decline, which occurs in both the older and younger generations, including within the government and among the wider community. These factors have resulted in the Indonesian nation experiencing setbacks in various positions in the world. To overcome this problem, the Indonesian nation needs to develop and build a life by instilling positive values to develop good character and be able to compete with other countries in the era of globalization. Character education offers a great opportunity to implement the process of fostering and developing human beings, with education based on noble morals, namely Islamic education that integrates faith, sharia, and morals in a learning system that is based on Islamic morals and influences self-improvement. One of the advantages of Al-Islam for humanity is the creation of a comprehensive and consistent method for developing mentality, producing generations, building society and culture, and upholding the principles of glory and civilization. Child educators must continue to seek more effective methods, seeking informative educational rules in preparing children mentally and morally, scientifically, spiritually, and socially, so that children can reach perfect maturity.

Chronic diseases such as chronic kidney disease (CKD), diabetes, and heart disease remain major causes of mortality worldwide, highlighting the need for accurate and interpretable diagnostic models. However, conventional machine learning methods often face challenges of limited generalization, feature redundancy, and class imbalance in medical datasets. This study proposes an integrated classification framework that unifies three complementary feature paradigms: classical tabular attributes, deep latent features extracted through an unsupervised Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) encoder, and quantum-inspired features derived from a five-qubit circuit implemented in PennyLane. These heterogeneous features are fused using a feature-wise attention mechanism combined with an AdaBoost classifier to dynamically weight feature contributions and enhance decision boundaries. Experiments were conducted on three benchmark medical datasets—CKD, early-stage diabetes, and heart disease—under both balanced and imbalanced configurations using stratified five-fold cross-validation. All preprocessing and feature extraction steps were carefully isolated within each fold to ensure fair evaluation. The proposed hybrid model consistently outperformed conventional and ensemble baselines, achieving peak accuracies of 99.75% (CKD), 96.73% (diabetes), and 91.40% (heart disease) with corresponding ROC AUCs up to 1.00. Ablation analyses confirmed that attention-based fusion substantially improved both accuracy and recall, particularly under imbalanced conditions, while SMOTE contributed minimally once feature-level optimization was applied. Overall, the attention-guided AdaBoost framework provides a robust and interpretable approach for clinical risk prediction, demonstrating that integrating diverse quantum, deep, and classical representations can significantly enhance feature discriminability and model reliability in structured medical data.

Prayer constitutes the essence of worship in Islam and serves as a profound expression of faith, resilience, and spiritual submission. This study aims to unveil the multifaceted dimensions of the prophets’ prayers in the Qur’an by integrating the adābi ijtimāʾī approach of Tafsir Al-Azhar (Buya Hamka) and the lughāwī approach of Tafsir al-Kashshāf (Mahmud al-Zamakhsharī). Employing a qualitative descriptive design with library research and content analysis (tahlīlī-munaṣābah-semantik), primary data comprised Qur’anic verses featuring prophetic supplications. Analysis focused on etymological, morphological, rhetorical, and socio-cultural aspects, as well as the ethical etiquette (adab) and pedagogical functions embedded in each prayer. Findings reveal that prophets’ prayers encapsulate layers of linguistic eloquence, spiritual resilience, and communal guidance, while divine corrections within certain supplications underscore the pedagogical nature of revelation. This integrative tafsir framework offers a holistic model for incorporating Qur’anic supplications into contemporary character and academic education, fostering both linguistic insight and social relevance

In recent years, education has placed greater emphasis on academic achievement, often overlooking the importance of character and ethical development in students. However, instilling the value of adab (proper manners) before knowledge is essential as a foundational aspect of the learning process. Adab encompasses attitudes such as respect for teachers, honesty, responsibility, and politeness, which contribute to forming ethical individuals. This study aims to explore the significance of adab values in education as an effort to cultivate students' character and ethics from an early age. The research uses a literature review method by analyzing various sources from Islamic education and character education theories. The findings reveal that the integration of adab values can be achieved through teacher role modeling, fostering positive habits within the school environment, and embedding these values into learning materials. When consistently applied, these approaches create a conducive learning atmosphere and develop students who are not only intellectually capable but also morally upright. The study implies that a balanced approach to education, which emphasizes both knowledge and adab, should be instilled early in both school and family settings

The rapid development of digital technology has significantly influenced educational approaches, particularly in Islamic education for digital native generations. This study analyzes the concept of Islamic education in the digital era based on the book Tarbiyah fi Zaman al-Fitan by Sheikh Dr. Ali bin Yahya al-Haddadi and explores its influence on digital native generations. Using a qualitative approach with library research methodology, this study conducts an in-depth analysis of the primary source supplemented by relevant secondary literature including books, scientific journals, and previous research findings. The research integrates Digital Native theory, Social Cognitive theory, and Connectivism to understand the educational challenges faced by digital natives. The findings reveal four main pillars of Islamic education according to al-Haddadi: parental education, gradual education from early age (tarbiyah tadrijiyyah), creed education (aqidah), and social etiquette education (adab). These pillars effectively serve as protective measures against two main fitnah (trials) in the digital era: syahwat (lust) and syubhat (doctrinal confusion). The study demonstrates that classical Islamic educational concepts remain highly relevant for addressing contemporary digital challenges, providing internal firewall mechanisms, strengthening parental role modeling, and promoting adaptive collaborative learning. This research contributes to the development of Islamic educational frameworks that integrate classical spiritual values with modern digital literacy requirements.

This article examines the foundational role of traditional methods in Arabic language instruction by exploring classical pedagogies rooted in Islamic educational heritage. Amid the rising dominance of modern and communicative approaches, a critical reassessment of historical methods—such as imlāʾ, talqīn, qirāʾah jahrīyah, ḥifẓ, and tarjamah—is necessary to understand their pedagogical strengths, limitations, and philosophical underpinnings. This study employs a reflective literature-based method that draws upon classical Islamic texts, modern comparative analyses, and recent academic contributions to reconstruct the theoretical framework of traditional instruction. Findings reveal that while classical methods emphasized memorization, authority, and textual mastery, they also embodied a coherent epistemology centered on ethical formation (adab), teacher–student transmission (taqlīd), and spiritual-intellectual integration. These methods were not only instructional techniques but were embedded within broader ontological and axiological assumptions about knowledge, language, and human development. The study argues that rather than being entirely outdated, elements of traditional pedagogy remain relevant and can be selectively integrated into modern educational models to balance structure with creativity, discipline with dialogue. By critically reviewing classical pedagogies, this article contributes to the discourse on Arabic language curriculum reform, especially in Islamic institutions seeking to preserve identity while engaging contemporary educational challenges
