Student discipline is one of the key indicators of a school’s success in shaping character and creating a conducive learning environment. Discipline not only reflects compliance with school regulations but also demonstrates responsibility, honesty, orderliness, and self-control as part of character building. However, in practice, various disciplinary violations are still frequently found among students, such as lateness, failure to complete assignments, truancy, and noncompliance with school dress codes. These issues are also evident at SMA Kristen Palangka Raya, particularly among Grade XI students. Therefore, the role of the school principal as an educational leader is essential in implementing effective strategies to improve student discipline. This study aims to describe the role of the principal in enhancing student discipline among Grade XI students at SMA Kristen Palangka Raya. The research employed a qualitative descriptive method with data collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The participants included the principal, vice principal for student affairs, teachers, and students. The findings revealed that the principal performs several roles: (1) educator, by integrating discipline values through learning activities and character-building programs; (2) manager, by organizing, planning, and implementing school regulations; (3) supervisor, by monitoring and evaluating student discipline; (4) leader, by providing direction and exemplary behavior; and (5) motivator, by giving appreciation and educational sanctions. Challenges encountered include students’ low awareness of discipline and lack of parental involvement. To overcome these obstacles, the principal builds stronger communication with parents, enforces school rules consistently, and conducts continuous character development programs.

Discipline is a crucial aspect of education that plays a significant role in shaping students’ character and sense of responsibility. However, the manual discipline assessment process at SDIP Baitul Maal presents several issues, such as inaccurate data, limited analysis capabilities, and difficulty for teachers and parents to monitor students effectively. With the advancement of information technology, digital systems offer a potential solution to improve the efficiency and objectivity of the evaluation process. This study aims to design and develop a web-based application for assessing student discipline by implementing the K-Means Clustering method optimized with the Elbow method. The system is designed to cluster students based on numerical data such as attendance, tardiness, neatness, and rule violations, allowing for more accurate classification of discipline levels. The results show that the system successfully groups students into clusters automatically and provides informative visualizations of the outcomes. Additionally, the system facilitates real-time monitoring and evaluation by school staff and parents through a user-friendly interface. Therefore, the application of the K-Means Elbow method proves effective in supporting decision-making within the educational environment. This research is expected to contribute to the digital transformation of school management and enhance the quality of student character development.

It uses a qualitative descriptive approach with data collected through in-depth interviews with five respondents. The focus of the interviews was on five key aspects: the implementation of character education, the core values instilled, the effectiveness of the program, challenges faced, and suggestions for improvement. The study finds that Islamic character education at MTsN 1 Bandar Lampung is integrated through the habituation of worship, the application of Islamic values-based discipline, teacher examples, the integration of character education materials into the curriculum, and the support of counseling services. The five key character values emphasized are honesty, discipline, responsibility, social care, and politeness. The program is considered quite effective in reducing disciplinary violations and enhancing students' moral awareness. However, the program faces challenges, such as the influence of social media, peer pressure, limited learning time, and insufficient teacher training. These challenges hinder the full potential of the program, but despite these barriers, it has still managed to positively impact the students' moral development. The study concludes that Islamic character education can significantly contribute to addressing moral decadence among students, though continuous efforts to address challenges are necessary to further improve its impact.

The findings of the study conducted by the author indicate that the enforcement of teacher and student discipline is carried out through a number of policies, namely: 1) Policies related to the enforcement of teacher and student discipline, 2) Establishing rules at school and in the classroom, 3) Monitoring the disciplinary behavior of teachers and students by making a monitoring book of their daily activities, 4) Imposing sanctions for violations, 5) Involving the principal, teachers, and educational staff. Furthermore, parental involvement and collaboration with external parties are also supporting factors in creating an orderly, safe, and conducive learning environment. Regular evaluation of implemented policies is also crucial to ensure their relevance and effectiveness. Fair and transparent reward and punishment practices contribute to increased student awareness and motivation to comply with school regulations. A culture of discipline consistently cultivated from an early age significantly contributes to positive character development and the overall improvement of the quality of basic education. Implementation requires ongoing training and mentoring for teachers and other educational staff to equip them with the capacity to implement a humanistic yet firm approach.

The school uniform policy is part of the broader education policy aimed at instilling the values of nationalism, social equality, discipline, and fostering a spirit of unity among students. However, in its implementation in Pekanbaru City various issues are still found, such as the financial burden placed on parents for purchasing uniforms, lack of transparency from schools, and suboptimal parental involvement and supervision by the education office. This study employs a qualitative method with a descriptive phenomenology approach. The research refers to the policy implementation theory of Yulianto Kadji, namely the MSN Approach (Mentality-Approach, System-Approach, and Networking-Approach). Data were collected through in-depth interviews, direct observation, and documentation. Informants included representatives from the Pekanbaru City Education Office, school principals, and parents. The results of the study indicate that the implementation of the school uniform policy in Pekanbaru City has not been optimal. From the mentality approach, there are still objections from parents regarding the cost of uniforms and limited understanding of the policy regulations. From the systems perspective, regulations are not consistently enforced by schools, including a lack of prioritization for underprivileged students and the absence of strict sanctions for policy violations. Meanwhile, from the networking approach, parental involvement and the role of school committees in decision-making remain weak, resulting in the lack of effective strategic partnerships between schools, parents, and the education office.

Student discipline remains a significant issue in education, including at SMA Al-Hidayah, where various violations such as tardiness, non-compliance with school rules, and lack of academic responsibility are still commonly found. This study aims to describe the forms of disciplinary violations committed by students, the strategies employed by school counselors, and the role of guidance and counseling (BK) teachers in improving student discipline. A descriptive qualitative approach was used, with data collected through interviews, observations, and documentation. The results show that common violations include arriving late, not wearing the proper uniform, and failing to complete assignments. The strategies applied by BK teachers include preventive approaches, curative measures, positive reinforcement, and collaboration with subject teachers and parents. The role of the BK teacher is central, acting as a facilitator, mentor, and mediator in the development of student discipline. These findings support existing theories that emphasize humanistic, consistent, and collaborative approaches as effective methods for fostering internal awareness of discipline among students. With well-planned strategies and consistent implementation, school counselors can become key agents in creating a culture of discipline within the school environment.

Student discipline is a crucial aspect in the world of education that directly affects the effectiveness of the learning process. This study aims to analyze the implications of punishment on student discipline using a behaviorist learning theory approach. In this theory, punishment functions as a consequence that reduces unwanted behavior, while positive reinforcement aims to encourage expected behavior. A case study of Mrs. Supriyani, a teacher accused of committing violence against students, is the focus of this study. The results of the study indicate that punishment given appropriately and consistently can build a deterrent effect and increase student discipline. However, excessive or unfair punishment tends to have negative impacts, such as emotional resistance and damaged teacher-student relationships. To achieve more effective discipline, a combination of educational punishment and positive reinforcement is needed so that students not only understand the bad consequences of violations but are also motivated to demonstrate good behavior. Prospects for further development of this research include the implementation of restorative justice methods in conflict resolution and strengthening the role of teachers as learning facilitators who educate without having to cause fear.

Based on the results of research related to school strategies in dealing with violations of rules and regulations to improve the disciplinary character of students at MAS AT-TAQWA Beru, it can be concluded as follows: The strategy implemented by the school consists of three approaches, namely (1) Preventive strategy, which includes outreach to students , habituation, and extracurricular activities as prevention efforts before violations occur, (2) Repressive strategies, which are implemented after violations occur, including providing advice, sanctions, and supervision, and (3) Curative strategies, which focus on coaching students and summoning parent. The obstacles faced by schools in overcoming violations of discipline and forming students' disciplinary character include (1) Internal factors, which include limited school facilities and infrastructure as well as the condition of the students themselves, and (2) External factors, namely the influence of the family environment, especially in cases of families that are not intact (broken homes) or parents who are busy working, so that children often live with grandparents and receive less attention, as well as the influence of playmates and the living environment.

The approach used was qualitative withHowever, this understanding is not fully reflected in students' daily behavior. Various violations of school rules are still found, such as tardiness, non-compliance with dress codes, and lack of discipline. This indicates that students' legal awareness is still at the cognitive stage and has not been optimally internalized in their attitudes and actions. Factors influencing this condition include learning methods that still find various violations of school rules, such as tardiness, non-compliance with dress codes, and lack of discipline. This indicates that students' legal awareness is still at the cognitive stage and has not been optimally internalized in their attitudes and actions. Factors influencing this condition include learning methods that are still predominantly theoretical, a lack of habituation activities and direct practice, and the influence of the school environment and students' social circles. Therefore, PPKn learning needs to be developed with a more contextual, participatory, and character-oriented approach to continuously improve students' legal awareness.

The urgency in several cases of student delinquency stems from law breaking attitudes and corruption cases which are increasingly common in our country, Indonesia. This occurs due to the dysfunction of several law enforcement agencies which are considered not to have emphasized their function in educating and anticipating cases of law violations in society. Some basic examples of legal awareness education and anti-corruption attitudes carried out in schools are students practicing through the honesty canteen, students practicing remembering their own assignments/exercises, students practicing identifying honest characters, schools providing special extracurriculars. So that way students and teachers understand the benefits of honesty and discipline. However, it should be noted that legal awareness education and an anti-corruption attitude should not be provided at elementary school level alone, this education must continue at subsequent educational levels because at the same time educational institutions at the upper level can be a strong milestone and reminder for building accountability and transparency.

Student discipline has a very important role in the learning process at school. Students who are not accustomed to discipline and are not handled by the school immediately, will develop habits in themselves so that they always commit violations of every existing rule. Efforts made by schools to discipline students are the existence of rules that are made so that these regulations can be obeyed. However, the existing rules at school are only used as a display without wanting to apply them concretely. So from this it is necessary to instill the value of discipline in schools, namely by giving light punishments so that students will not repeat the violation a second time. This research is a literature review research with a descriptive approach. The literature reviewed in this study comes from research journals. The conclusion in this study shows that the inculcation of discipline at SD Pertiwi Makassar has gone quite well, but still needs to be improved
