Reading literacy among 6th grade elementary students is often superficial, limiting their ability to analyze implicit meanings and connect texts to real-world contexts. This review examines the potential of deep learning as a pedagogical approach to enhance in-depth text comprehension. Deep learning emphasizes active engagement, reflection, and the construction of meaningful knowledge, aiming to foster critical thinking and improve comprehension. Recent studies highlight implementation strategies such as reflective journaling and interactive discussions, which have demonstrated significant improvements in students' critical thinking and comprehension scores (p < 0.05). These findings suggest that deep learning methods surpass traditional approaches by promoting higher-order cognitive skills, enabling students to analyze and interpret texts more effectively. However, challenges such as inadequate teacher training persist, which may hinder the full integration of deep learning techniques. To address these challenges, further research is needed to explore scalable digital tools that can support deep learning in diverse classroom settings. By examining the potential for digital integration, future studies could provide insights into how technology can facilitate the widespread adoption of deep learning strategies, making them more accessible and effective for a broader range of students. Ultimately, this review underscores the promise of deep learning in enhancing reading literacy and suggests that addressing the barriers to its implementation could have significant educational benefits.

Traditional food is a national asset. It not only serves as a source of energy for the community, but also serves as a form of food security, an economic driver, a source of healthy food, and a culture steeped in noble values. The widespread consumption of unhealthy foods by students, especially elementary school students, is one of the reasons for this outreach activity. The health issues surrounding junk food must be addressed by offering healthy alternatives, such as traditional foods. Traditional food is not only related to food, but can also be linked to ethnomathematics, where culture in the form of food is studied from a mathematical perspective. Elementary school students not only consume traditional foods but also interpret these foods in mathematical contexts, such as geometry and numbers. In this way, students will be able to visualize mathematical elements not only when reading math textbooks but also when consuming traditional foods that are part of their daily environment. Despite their traditional nature, students actually enjoy some traditional foods. This is a frequent conflict between the current generation and traditional culture. They better understand how to prepare traditional foods, appreciate the richness of local culture, and develop a love for their culture and homeland.

This study analyzes the implications of the slogan “returning to the Qur’an,” which is frequently understood as a call to rely directly on the Qur’an in addressing religious and social issues while neglecting essential exegetical disciplines such as tafsir, asbāb al-nuzūl, and other authoritative scholarly frameworks. The discussion is reinforced by the findings of Husnul Maab, a postgraduate student at the Institut Ilmu Al-Qur’an (IIQ), whose thesis on the textuality of Qur’anic interpretation and its relationship to religious diversity in Indonesia highlights the serious problems inherent in literalist approaches, particularly in the interpretation of verses related to jihad and politics. This research employs a qualitative library research method, using relevant literature as the primary source of data and analysis, requiring in-depth understanding and critical engagement with the subject matter. The findings indicate that the slogan “returning to the Qur’an” can function as a form of interpretive distortion when it is not accompanied by adequate scholarly competence. Attempts to deepen Qur’anic understanding without integrating the bayānī (textual), burhānī (rational), and ‘irfānī (ethical–spiritual) approaches tend to result in rigid and reductionist interpretations. Such purely textual readings represent an extreme position that may lead to harmful consequences, including the tendency to label others as unbelievers, sinners, or wrongdoers solely due to interpretive differences. Ultimately, religious understanding shaped by reactive and exclusionary interpretations poses a significant threat to religious pluralism and social harmony in Indonesia.

This study analyzes the short story Cinta Semata Wayang by Nuryana Asmaudi SA using a literary psychology approach grounded in Sigmund Freud’s psychoanalytic theory. The research applies a literature study with a descriptive qualitative method. Data were collected through close reading to identify structural elements and the psychological dynamics of the characters. The findings reveal marital conflict symbolized through wayang figures, particularly Rama and Sinta. Structurally, the story presents a progressive plot, symbolic and metaphorical language, and central themes of love and responsibility. The psychological analysis highlights the interaction of the id, ego, and superego within the main characters: Rama experiences tension between personal desires and moral norms, while Sinta demonstrates superego dominance through loyalty and emotional endurance. The short story emphasizes that true love is not solely based on emotion but also requires responsibility, commitment, and moral awareness as the foundation of a harmonious and sustainable relationship. This research contributes to literary psychology studies and deepens understanding of moral values in literature.

This research focuses on the correlation between students’ reading habit and their reading comprehension in analytical exposition texts of eleventh grade students at SMA PGRI Pekanbaru. This research was motivated by the fact that some students face difficulties in reading English texts due to a lack of reading habit and challenges in understanding English texts, especially analytical exposition texts. This research employed a correlational design. The sample consisted of 37 eleventh grade students of SMA PGRI Pekanbaru in the academic year 2024/2025, selected through total sampling technique. To collect the data, the researcher used a questionnaire to measure students’ reading habit and an objective test to assess their comprehension of analytical exposition texts. Pearson Product-Moment correlation analysis showed a correlation coefficient (r_xy) of 0.501, indicating a moderate positive correlation between the two variables. With a significance value of 0.001, which is lower than 0.05, the correlation was statistically significant. Furthermore, since the r_value (0.501) was greater than the r_table value (0.344) for 37 respondents at the 5% significance level, the alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted. These findings indicate that students with better reading habits tend to have higher comprehension in understanding analytical exposition texts.

This study examines Japanese advertising and product-information texts on Shiseido Japan’s official website (www.brand.shiseido.co.jp) that grammatically prevent readers from construing statements as universal claims (“always” or “true for everyone”). It addresses two problems: how universal readings are blocked through grammatical construction in this register, and how the main blocking mechanisms differ in limiting generalisation and managing scope. The data consist of sentence-level usage, precautionary, and quality-related statements that plausibly invite broad general interpretations. Seven analytically representative tokens are used as illustrative evidence, covering wake-negation, baai-based case framing, and event/occasion packaging with V-ru koto ga aru, including rare-event calibration with mare ni and layered conditional framing. The study employs qualitative, theory-driven grammatical analysis focusing on clause structure, embedding, nominalisation, connective relations, and the compositional contribution of key markers. The results identify recurring templates with distinct structural signatures. Wake-negation blocks over-strong uptake by denying a candidate inference (…to iu wake de wa arimasen). Case framing with baai shifts categorical commitments into situation-restricted possibility (…baai ga arimasu), including complex variants that add causal linkage, avoidance marking, and directive closure. Event/occasion packaging with koto plus existential predication (…koto ga arimasu) presents anomalies as contingent occurrences, and it can be triggered by causal conditions (e.g., temperature change) or conditional frames (…to). Rare-event marking with mare ni further calibrates frequency and often co-occurs with contrastive reassurance about quality. Overall, universal-blocking emerges as a set of non-redundant grammatical routes that constrain inference, situational domain, and event profiling in a compact public informational genre.
