Liberalism and Islamare two ways in different directions. Although both are often juxtaposed in every discussion of scholars, it is very difficult to put together. Islamis a religion that is assumed to the word of God through"the"book"of"the"Quran"and the hadith"of"the"Apostle, where each of its adherents has boundaries in carrying out life to survive in the world and the hereafter, while liberalism comes as an ideology that emphasizes the rights and freedom of every individual in all aspects of life including religion. This journal aims to present knowledge about"the"impact"of the ideology of liberalism"on"the"thought"of"the"Islamic Ummah. This study involved related literature analysis of academic sources, including theoretical works and thoughts of scholars andIslamicthinkers."The"conclusion"that"can"be"drawn"from"this"study"isthat"the"understanding"of"liberalism is still widely adopted by the Islamic Ummah even though the ideology of liberalism is very"contrary"to"the"teachings"of"Islam", this"is"due"to"the"weak religious education in every individual of the Islamic Ummah itself which then considers that Islamic rules curb human freedom.

Islamic education delves into the profound aspects of the individual, where knowledge is regarded as a divine gift that must be utilized in fulfilling the human role as a khalifah (steward) on Earth. The main challenge facing Islamic education today is the dichotomy between religious and secular knowledge. This study explores the thoughts of Mohammad Natsir, an Indonesian Muslim intellectual, who sought to formulate an Islamic education system that aligns with the demands of religion, nation, and state. Using a qualitative descriptive approach and library research, this study concludes that: 1) Natsir’s thoughts on Islamic education are based on the Qur'an and Sunnah, emphasizing the importance of an integral, harmonious, and universal education to develop human potential as khalifah. 2) Natsir’s relevance in the reform of Islamic education includes a purification process returning to pure Islamic teachings with tawhid (monotheism) as the foundation of education, and modernization through the integration of religious and secular education to overcome the dichotomy in Indonesia’s educational system.

According to Article 2 paragraph (1) of Law Number 1 of 1974 concerning Marriage, a marriage is considered valid if it is conducted according to the laws of the respective religion and beliefs. Marriage is not merely a physical union but also an emotional bond, and fundamentally follows the principle of monogamy. In the legal framework of marriage, state protection—particularly for wives and future children—can only be guaranteed if the marriage is consciously conducted in accordance with Law Number 1 of 1974, which includes the requirement that the marriage be officially registered under applicable laws and regulations. If a marriage is not registered, the state cannot provide legal protection concerning marital status, joint property, inheritance, and other rights arising from the marriage. To establish a wife’s rights, it must first be proven that a legal marriage exists between her and her husband. One legal consequence of an unregistered marriage is that neither the wife nor any children from the marriage have the right to claim support or inheritance from the husband. Islamic inheritance laws allocate shares specifically to blood relatives.Unregistered marriages—often called sirri, kiyai, or syar’i marriages—are conducted according to religious rules or customs but are not registered with the Marriage Registrar. In Chinese customary law, property acquired during marriage is influenced by a patrilineal kinship system, where the wife’s status is governed by the husband’s family law. Generally, the husband, as head of the household, controls all marital property and has absolute rights to use it without needing the wife’s consent, including in transferring joint property.

This study aims to examine the role of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) in the formation of students' character in the era of globalization which is full of value challenges due to technological developments and information flows. Globalization has had a significant impact on the morality of the younger generation, so that religious-based character education is becoming increasingly important. Using a qualitative research method based on literature studies, data were collected from various relevant scientific literature sources and analyzed thematically. The results of the study indicate that PAI plays a central role in instilling students' faith, morality, and social values through value-based learning, habituation of worship, and teacher role models. However, globalization is a contextual factor that can weaken or strengthen this influence depending on the implementation strategy. These findings strengthen Lickona's character education theory and Bandura's social learning theory, and show the importance of an adaptive and contextual approach in teaching PAI. The implications of this study are the need to develop a more innovative, integrative, and collaborative PAI curriculum and learning strategy between schools, families, and communities so that religious values remain firmly embedded in students amidst the challenges of globalization.

This study explores the integration of Tasawwuf (Islamic mysticism) with Maqāṣid al-Sharīʿah (objectives of Islamic law) to propose a more ethical and effective social welfare framework. The research emphasizes the importance of combining the spiritual dimensions of Tasawwuf, such as Ihsan (excellence) and ʿAdl (justice), with the legal and ethical framework of Maqāṣid al-Sharīʿah, which seeks to preserve essential human interests such as religion, life, intellect, progeny, and wealth. This integrated approach is positioned as a comprehensive model for social welfare that addresses not only material needs but also promotes spiritual growth and ethical conduct. By blending these two frameworks, the study proposes a holistic view of social welfare that fosters empathy, justice, and social care. The findings highlight that Tasawwuf contributes to the ethical application of Maqāṣid al-Sharīʿah, enhancing social responsibility and promoting greater community cohesion and solidarity. The study also discusses the practical implications of this integration in contemporary Muslim societies, including its potential to reshape existing welfare programs. Recommendations for future research and policy development emphasize the need for further exploration of this integrated approach in Islamic finance, Takaful, and Zakat, as well as the creation of frameworks that balance legal compliance with ethical and spiritual principles. The results suggest that incorporating Tasawwuf alongside Maqāṣid al-Sharīʿah can significantly improve the ethical foundation of social welfare programs, fostering a more just and compassionate society.

This study explores the Islamic perspective on Human Rights (HR) through a qualitative approach based on literature review. It emphasizes that the principles of human rights are not foreign to Islamic teachings, but are inherently embedded in the values of Sharia derived from the Qur'an and Hadith. Islam upholds justice, freedom of religion, equality, the right to life, and social and economic welfare. The article also examines contemporary challenges faced by Muslim societies in implementing human rights, such as gender inequality, restrictions on religious freedom, and the marginalization of vulnerable groups, including the LGBT community. The findings reveal that the tensions between Islamic principles and international human rights standards often stem from differing normative foundations and interpretations of individual freedom. Therefore, a contextual reinterpretation (ijtihad) is necessary to ensure that Islamic values remain relevant and responsive to modern global challenges. The study concludes that, when applied wisely and aligned with universal humanitarian values, Islamic teachings hold significant potential to contribute to the development of a just, inclusive, and dignified society.

Marriage is a spiritual and physical bond between one man and one woman as husband and wife with the aim of forming a happy family based on the belief in the Almighty God. In a marriage, forming a happy family certainly requires cooperation between each party, both husband and wife. If both parties have different goals, it will trigger problems in the household. Problems in the household can influence divorce between both parties, namely husband and wife.  Divorce is a condition in the household where there is no common ground for harmony and harmony in the relationship between husband and wife so that it can be decided by the District Court for those of non-Islamic religions or the Religious Court for those of Islamic religion. Considering that Indonesia is a country of law where every action has rules, if seen from the principle of Nebis In Idem, this problem is no longer acceptable. However, in this divorce case the lawsuit was accepted by the judge and the judge decided again with a different decision. Based on this, the formulation of the problem is how to apply the Ne Bis In Idem Principle by the judge in divorce cases

The transformation of Islamic art is a long process that occurs through the interaction of various cultures. The Mughal dynasty in India became one of the most influential centers of Islamic art development, where Persian, Indian and Islamic cultures were combined in various art forms. This influence then spread to Southeast Asia, including Indonesia, through trade and the spread of Islam. The purpose of this article is to find out the history of the establishment and development of the Mughal Dynasty. In addition, it is also to know the progress of civilization and thought until the decline during the Mughal Dynasty. The Islamic civilization of the classical-middle period was a great civilization. At that time there was no other civilization that could match its greatness. The glory of Islam was felt in various regions, one of which was India. In India, Islam was once victorious as evidenced by the many Islamic dynasties that were established there, such as the Mamluk Dynasty (1206-1290), Khalji Dynasty (1206-1320 AD), Tugluq Dynasty (1320-1413 AD), and several other dynasties. However, the most prominent dynasty in India was the Mughal Dynasty. The Mughals were an Islamic dynasty that ruled India from the 16th century to the 19th century. It was one of the three major dynasties (Mughals, Ottoman Turks and Safavids) that emerged during the medieval period. The Mughal Dynasty had a major role in the development of Islam in India, ranging from politics, economics, arts and culture, religion, to the field of knowledge. The results showed that the success of the Mughal Dynasty in building the peak of Islamic civilization in India amidst the dominance of Hinduism was the result of an inclusive and tolerant policy of religious pluralism.

This study aims to explore and analyze the values of the integration of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) with science in learning in Senior High Schools (SMA) in the Riau Islands. In the era of globalization and rapid technological advances, it is important for education to integrate religious knowledge and science in order to create students who are not only intellectually intelligent but also have strong characters. The research approach used is qualitative descriptive with a case study method involving in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation studies in several high schools in the Riau Islands. This study found that despite major challenges in terms of limited infrastructure, human resources, and access to technology, the integration of PAI and science can enrich students' understanding of the relationship between religion and science. By integrating science into Islamic teachings, students not only learn scientific knowledge but are also trained to think critically in the context of religion and morals. On the other hand, geographical challenges and limited facilities in the Riau Islands cause gaps in the implementation of this integration. Therefore, this study suggests the need for more adaptive learning strategies, improved teacher training, and the use of mobile technology to overcome these challenges. This research is expected to contribute to the development of a more inclusive and relevant education curriculum, especially in remote areas such as the Riau Islands.

Reflection : Islamic Education Journal 2025 Asosiasi Riset Ilmu Pendidikan Agama dan Filsafat Indonesia

Islam is a religion that places its concentration on regulating the economic order, so that the economic cycle is not only focused on one group or dominated by certain people. Islam applies strict sanctions against the hoarding of the economy that is only accessible to certain groups who have power, while the weak can only be witnesses. The economic gap that has been felt lately is a trigger for the compartmentalization of human life. Relationships between humans become foreign, do not know each other, let alone care about the problems felt by each individual. Life that feels foreign in the midst of society because of individualistic lifestyles is a trigger for crime and other bad behavior caused by economic inequality. Sayyidina Ali said that disbelief occurs due to persistent poverty. Even the crime of theft is also triggered by poverty.
