This community service aims to implement recycling activities for children as an educational strategy to foster environmental awareness from an early age. In the context of increasing environmental challenges, environmental education is an urgent need to shape a caring and responsible character for environmental sustainability. The method used is participatory learning with direct practice of recycling waste that actively involves children, accompanied by education on waste management, sorting, and the reuse of used materials into useful products. This approach uses observation, and documentation as data collection techniques to evaluate children's understanding and behavior. The results of the community service show a significant increase in children's awareness and concrete actions in protecting the environment after participating in the recycling activity. Children not only understand the concept of environmental conservation theoretically, but also practice it in their daily lives, such as sorting waste and reducing plastic waste. This community service's contribution to the development of science in the field of education lies in the successful implementation of an experiential learning model that integrates cognitive, affective, and psychomotor aspects in instilling environmental values. This educational model enriches an effective and contextual approach to environmental education, while also providing a strategic alternative for fostering environmental awareness among the younger generation. Thus, this community service makes a significant contribution to the development of educational methods that can strengthen sustainable development through the active participation of children from an early age.

Economic forecasting is becoming increasingly important year after year, especially during crises such as the pandemic of COVID-19 and the Russia-Ukraine war. Its development can be seen from the use of basic statistical models to the increasingly widespread use of machine learning technology. Economic forecasting plays an important role in helping to formulate policies and is also a reliable tool for researchers in dealing with uncertainty. Global crises, such as inflationary pressures due to the pandemic and supply chain disruptions from the Russia-Ukraine conflict, have prompted increased research in this field in an effort to anticipate economic shocks and emphasize the urgency of forecasting to prepare strategies for dealing with future uncertainty. This literature review uses the Scopus database with 2561 publications from 2020 to 2025, analyzed using R Studio with a bibliometrix approach (specifically biblioshiny) and VOSviewer to map relevant thematic connections. This analysis shows that economic forecasting is greatly influenced by market uncertainty and geopolitical factors, and at the same time influences public policy formulation and financial stability. Research contributions from Indonesia are still limited, with only 40 documents, thus emphasizing the need to strengthen economic forecasting studies in Indonesia to support monetary policy and national financial stability.

Modern education often falls short in nurturing character, as it tends to prioritize cognitive achievement over holistic development producing students who excel academically but lack independence, creativity, and moral strength. This study seeks to explore the concept of Tarbiyah Based on Khudi (Ego/Selfhood) inspired by Muhammad Iqbal, positioning it as a philosophical and pedagogical framework to address the current character crisis and cultivate Independent and Creative individuals toward the realization of Insan Kamil (the Perfect Human). Employing a qualitative method through a library research approach, this study conceptually examines the three fundamental pillars of Khudi development: Obedience (Ita’at)/Discipline, Self-Mastery (Dabt-i-Zabt)/Self-Control, and Vicegerency (Niyabat-i-Ilahiyyah)/Creativity. The findings indicate that Khudi-based Tarbiyah serves as an effective integrative framework. Genuine independence arises from self-control, fostering responsible freedom and autonomy, while creativity embodies the essence of vicegerency through a continuous spirit of Ijtihad that drives social innovation and civilizational progress. Ultimately, Khudi ensures spiritual independence and moral vitality. The study recommends adopting progressive and dynamic learning models such as project-based learning aligned with the Khudi philosophy to integrate affective and psychomotor dimensions into Indonesia’s character education.

This qualitative case study examines how the Communicative Language Teaching (CLT) approach can be adapted to general English classes in a higher education institution in Timor-Leste to answer the long-standing question of how students can acquire speaking proficiency in a multilingual learning environment. The paper brings into focus the incorporation of CLT into classroom activities with special emphasis on the application of role play, pair work, seminars, simulations, and task-based learning as means of promoting interactive and communicative competence. A descriptive qualitative case study design was used to develop in-depth knowledge of contextual teaching and learning experiences, the perspectives of the participants, and naturally occurring practices in the institutional setting. Semi-structured interviews, classroom observations, and document analysis were the data-gathering methods. Purposive sampling was used to select the two lecturers and seven students directly involved in teaching general English. Thematic analysis was used to analyse the data, which made it possible to identify repeated themes and patterns that revealed both opportunities and difficulties in implementing CLT in context. The results of the study indicate that, despite the adaptation of the CTL approach in teaching practices, its implementation is often sporadic due to concerns about English proficiency, teacher training, and flexibility in using local and official languages during instruction. The research demonstrates the necessity of adapting CLT methods to the local education environment and arranging long-term professional development for lecturers. This study helps us understand how context-sensitive CLT approaches can lead to improved results in teaching and learning English in Timor-Leste. The interactive approach and the systematic teacher model could significantly improve students' communicative competence.
