Kindergarten provides early childhood education for children aged 0-6 years, aiming to develop their cognitive, social, and emotional skills through various educational approaches. This study examines the effect of using educational props, specifically flipbooks, and learning motivation on early reading skills in kindergarten children. A quasi-experimental method with a non-equivalent control group design was employed. The study involved two groups of kindergarten students: the experimental group, which used flipbooks, and the control group, which followed a conventional learning model. The results indicated that using flipbooks significantly improved early reading skills compared to the conventional method. Additionally, learning motivation was found to have a significant effect on reading ability. The interaction between using flipbooks and learning motivation demonstrated that their combination significantly enhanced children's reading ability. This study concludes that employing flipbooks and fostering students' learning motivation can improve the early reading skills of kindergarten children. Therefore, integrating flipbook and emphasizing learning motivation can have a significant and positive impact on early reading comprehension skills in kindergarten students, both individually and synergistically.

Reading is an important skill for students learning English, whether as a second language or a foreign language. Reading still plays a big role and is an essential tool for conveying meaning and information through text. For foreign language learners, reading in English is not an easy task because reading in English is complex and it is difficult to understand the meaning of sentences. Understanding is necessary to understand the meaning and obtain the information conveyed by the author. This happen because the language system of English is different from the students' native language. Hasibuan et al (2021) stated that Reading is an active process, it involves interpreting passages, not just receiving a message. It is reasonable for reading is one of the basic ways of acquiring information. Because when the students have a good competence in reading English, it will help them to obtain and enrich their knowledge.

This research aims to describe the results of exploratory learning about objects in the form of energy concepts on Para Island. The main research activities are exploring objects (Sun, ocean currents, sea waves, and wind), as well as scientific concepts and processes using the Thematic Exploration Learning in Democratic Interaction (HOTL-DI) type A model. Research at Tatoereng State Middle School Classes VII-VIII from June to July 2021. Exploration activities were carried out in three stages. The first stage is material exploration (objects, concepts, and scientific processes), carried out by the research team facilitated by the Pamong Teacher. The second stage is learning activities regarding energy concepts by class VII-VIII students. The results of the phase II assessment are used as a reference for going directly to the field to conduct exploration. Phase III exploration activities for target groups facilitated by mentors and researchers. The research results showed that at the beginning of the activity, all students experienced difficulties, but later, they developed the initiative to carry out their exploration. The exploration results show the development of the concept in the exploration step. Most students experienced improvement in identifying concepts and constructing a comprehensive network of energy concepts.
