Reading difficulties or dyslexia are learning disorders that affect a person's ability to recognize letters, words, or texts accurately and quickly. This study aims to identify effective guidance methods in helping individuals with dyslexia overcome their challenges. The research approach used is qualitative with a literature study method, which includes an analysis of various sources of theory and practice related to dyslexia. The results of the study indicate that the theory of dyslexia consists of the Phonology theory and the Double Deficit Theory. Teaching methods for children with dyslexia, namely the Fernald method, the Gilingham method, the Grass Analysis method, the Hegge-Kirk-Kirk method and the Neurological Impress method, personalized guidance, early intervention, the use of assistive technology, and a multisensory approach can improve the reading ability of individuals with dyslexia. These findings are expected to be a reference for educators, parents, and practitioners to develop more inclusive and effective guidance strategies in supporting the development of children with dyslexia.

Hikmah : Jurnal Studi Pendidikan Agama Islam 2024 Asosiasi Riset Ilmu Pendidikan Agama dan Filsafat Indonesia

This study aims to deeply analyze the role of religious literacy in improving maharah qira'ah (reading ability) at SMP Pahlawan Nasional Kota Medan. Using a qualitative-descriptive approach, this study explores data thoroughly regarding students' ability to read the Qur'an and its relationship to the religious literacy program implemented at the school. Data collection methods include memorization and Qur'an reading tests, observation of reading abilities, and surveys to explore students' perceptions of the importance of religious literacy. The results show that the majority of students still require intensive guidance in reading the Qur'an. In each class, only a few students are able to read the Qur'an and pronounce Arabic correctly, although their fluency is still lacking. Most students are not able to read the Qur'an fluently, and some still struggle to distinguish hijaiyah letters. These findings indicate the need for a systematic and intensive religious literacy program to help students improve their maharah qira'ah skills. Additionally, a more personalized teaching approach is necessary to address the specific challenges students face in reading the Qur'an.

The study, titled "The Influence of the Structural Analytic Synthetic (SAS) Method on Improving Early Reading Skills," examines the factors that contribute to students' reading difficulties, including (1) lack of knowledge about letters and (2) inability to understand the meaning of sentences being read. Therefore, the researcher implemented the SAS method as a strategy for early reading instruction. This research employed a quantitative experimental method to improve the reading abilities of first-grade students at SDN Gili Anyar. The study adopted a one-group pre-experimental design, consisting of pre-test and post-test phases. A quota sampling technique was used to select 22 first-grade students as participants. Data were collected through tests and observations, and a z-test was employed to assess the differences in mean scores before and after the intervention. The findings are as follows: 1) The average reading ability of the students before the intervention (pre-test) was 81.37, categorized as sufficient. 2)After the intervention (post-test), the average score improved to 91.17, categorized as very good. 3)The study concludes that the hypothesis (H1) is accepted, indicating that the SAS method effectively enhances the reading skills of first-grade students at SDN Gili Anyar.

Early childhood, commonly referred to as AUD (Anak Usia Dini), is the period from birth to six years old, which is crucial for the development of character and personality. At this stage, support from both parents and teachers is essential to help optimize children's potential according to their characteristics. One important aspect of early childhood development is language skills, which include listening, speaking, writing, and reading. Reading is a fundamental ability, as it serves as the foundation for developing other skills. In kindergarten-aged children, reading ability is known as emergent or beginning reading. This research aims to improve the beginning reading skills of children at PAUD Imanuel Maubele through the use of picture word card media. The research employs a Classroom Action Research (CAR) approach following the Kemmis and McTaggart model, which consists of planning, action, observation, and reflection stages, implemented in two cycles. The study involved 24 children aged 5-6 years, consisting of 14 girls and 10 boys. Data were collected using observation sheets. The pre-action observations showed that the children's beginning reading skills were still low, with an average achievement of only 42.59%. After implementing the first cycle, the average increased to 68.34%, with two children reaching the class success indicators. In the second cycle, the results showed a significant improvement, with an average achievement of 95.57%. These findings indicate that using picture word card media can effectively enhance the beginning reading abilities of early childhood students at PAUD Imanuel Maubele.

The problem of children's reading ability in Lambangan Village, especially first to third grade SD/MI students, is a problem that requires serious attention. The implementation of the "Lambangan Melek AKsara" program is carried out in three stages, namely: preparation, implementation and evaluation. Team UNNES Giat 9 Lambangan Community Service Team uses the EGRA (Early Grade Reading Assessment) test method to assess students' reading abilities. This test was carried out twice, namely before and after the implementation of the "Literacy Symbol" program. As for the implementation of reading training, the team used the learning by playing method. In the first treatment, team UNNES GIAT 9 Lambangan team provided reading teaching) with a focus on recognizing letters and sounds. In the second treatment the focus was on developing students' ability to read and write simple words. In the third treatment, the focus of training shifted to the ability to read simple sentences and understand text. Students' reading ability has improved quite well with this program. Based on a comparison of the results of the first and second EGRA (Early Grade Reading Assessment) tests, students' reading abilities have increased quite significantly.
