Arabic holds an important position in Islamic education as the language of the Qur'an and Hadith. However, the teaching of Arabic in Islamic educational institutions often focuses only on linguistic aspects, thus not fully achieving the goals of comprehensive Islamic education. This study aims to analyze the strengthening of Arabic language education objectives from the perspective of Islamic Tarbiyah. The method used in this study is qualitative, with a literature study and descriptive analysis approach. The analysis was conducted on relevant sources. The findings indicate that Arabic education within the framework of Islamic Tarbiyah not only emphasizes mastery of language skills but also the importance of shaping students' faith, morals, and Islamic character. The integration of tarbawi values into the objectives, materials, methods, and evaluation of learning becomes a key element in creating Arabic language education that is valuable and aligned with the goals of Islamic education. Its implications are expected to serve as a reference for curriculum development, teacher competence improvement, as well as the formulation of contextual, integrative, and sustainable Arabic language learning policies in national Islamic educational institutions.

Education in Islam plays a vital role in developing human potential holistically, where knowledge serves as the primary indicator of an individual's quality. This study aims to examine the virtue of knowledgeable people from the Quranic perspective, focusing on the theological and pedagogical analysis of Surah Al-Mujadalah verse 11. The method employed is descriptive qualitative through library research with a thematic exegesis (tafsir) approach. The results indicate that QS. Al-Mujadalah verse 11 establishes a hierarchy of human dignity based on the integration of faith and knowledge, rather than social or material status. These findings confirm that the elevation of rank encompasses a worldly dimension in the form of moral authority and an otherworldly dimension in the form of high positions before Allah. The implications of this research for contemporary Islamic education emphasize the importance of eliminating the dichotomy between religious and general sciences to cultivate the insan kamil (perfect human), who possesses a balance of intellectual intelligence, spiritual depth, and social responsibility. The study concludes that the virtue of knowledge in Islam is always grounded in transcendental values that bridge theory, faith, and practical deeds.

The development of the Industrial Revolution 4.0 to the Society 5.0 era presents new challenges for education, including Islamic Religious Education (PAI). PAI is required not only to transfer religious knowledge but also to shape character, morality, and 21st-century competencies. This study aims to examine the philosophical foundations, characteristics, and application of PAI learning models to ensure their relevance in modern education. The research employed a qualitative approach with a library research design, involving the exploration of primary and secondary literature, critical reading, systematic note-taking, and content analysis validated through triangulation of classical and contemporary sources. The findings indicate that PAI learning models are conceptual, theoretical, systematic, and rooted in religious, philosophical, psychological, and sociological foundations. Four main models behavioristic, information processing, social, and humanistic each have strengths and limitations, yet their integration is relevant to forming insan kamil, a holistic human being balanced in cognitive, affective, psychomotor, spiritual, and social aspects. Therefore, developing PAI learning models based on Islamic philosophy and adaptive to technological advancements is a strategic necessity to face global challenges.

In this study, we will discuss the concept of Islamic education from Buya Hamka's perspective. Buya Hamka was an Indonesian Muslim cleric and scholar with a profound perspective on the relationship between knowledge, faith, and morality. The purpose of this study is to analyze aspects of Islamic education according to Buya Hamka and their relevance to the modern education system. This research was conducted using a qualitative descriptive approach, drawing on relevant academic literature such as journals, books, and articles. This research concludes that Buya Hamka views Islamic education as an effort to shape a holistic human being, balancing spiritual, intellectual, moral, and social aspects. Hamka emphasized that education is not only intended to cultivate the intellect but also to purify the heart and develop noble character. According to Hamka, Islamic education must be grounded in monotheism, direct educators as role models of morality, and integrate religious and intellectual knowledge for the benefit of the community. Buya Hamka's perspective is sufficient to address the challenges of modern education, which tends to focus on academic values without considering the instilling of moral and spiritual values.

Humans, as creations of Allah SWT, are entrusted with the mandate to prosper the earth; therefore, divine revelations were sent down, culminating in the Qur’an as the ultimate guide for life. Islam, as a universal religion, emphasizes education as a means to achieve a complete and meaningful life. Islamic education, as defined by scholars such as al-Syaebani, Zakiah Drajat, and Muhaimin, is a process of transforming human behavior in personal, social, and environmental contexts based on Islamic values. This study employs a library research method with a thematic tafsir (maudhu’i) approach to examine the Qur’anic foundations of Islamic education. The findings indicate that verses such as QS. Al-‘Alaq [96]:1–5 highlight the importance of literacy as the starting point of education, QS. Al-Mujadalah [58]:11 affirms the elevated status of the learned, QS. An-Nahl [16]:78 emphasizes human innate potential, QS. Luqman [31]:12–19 stresses character education, and QS. Ali Imran [3]:190–191 underscores the integration of spirituality and intellect. Thus, the Qur’anic foundation provides theological, philosophical, and practical bases for the development of Islamic education aimed at forming insan kamil—individuals who are knowledgeable, faithful, and morally upright. QS. Luqman: 13–19 highlights education based on monotheism and morals, where Luqman advises his children to have faith, do good deeds and be patient. QS. Al-Māidah: 67 emphasizes trust and courage in conveying knowledge, as Allah commanded the Prophet to convey revelation without fear

This study aims to analyze the application of Think-Pair-Share (TPS) and Group Investigation (GI) cooperative learning strategies as pedagogical innovations in strengthening Islamic values and student learning independence in Islamic Religious Education (IRE) subjects. This study uses a library research method by examining various relevant scientific sources, including cooperative learning theory, the concept of independent learning, and Islamic educational values. The results of the study show that the integration of TPS and GI strategies can create an active, participatory, collaborative, and reflective learning process. Through paired discussions and investigative group work, students are trained to think critically, be responsible, and be able to work together harmoniously. In addition to improving academic understanding, the application of these two strategies also contributes to instilling Islamic values such as ukhuwah (brotherhood), amanah (trustworthiness), and mutual respect. Thus, this learning innovation is not only oriented towards cognitive aspects, but also towards character building and spirituality of students. The findings of this study are expected to be a reference for PAI teachers in developing effective, contextual, and Islamic character learning strategies.

Madhhab fanaticism in Islamic education, which appears in fiqh teaching practices that tend to absolutize a single madhhab, restrict dialogical space, and insufficiently appreciate the diversity of scholarly opinions. Such conditions may foster exclusive and intolerant religious attitudes among students. To respond to this problem, the study employs a qualitative approach with a library research design by critically examining books, journal articles, and documents related to fiqh madhhabs, Islamic education, religious moderation, and multicultural education. The data are analyzed using content analysis and descriptive–analytical techniques to map the forms of madhhab fanaticism in the learning process, the stages of transformation in madhhab understanding, and the pedagogical strategies that support the emergence of tolerant attitudes. The findings indicate that the transformation toward a more tolerant understanding of madhhabs is supported by curricula that accommodate comparative fiqh (multi-madhhab), inclusive learning materials, dialogical teaching methods, and teachers’ role modeling of moderate attitudes. Inhibiting factors include deeply rooted madhhab fanaticism, the dominance of conservative curricula, ideological bias in textbooks, and a weak culture of critical thinking. It is concluded that strengthening fiqh instructional design that consciously integrates religious moderation and multicultural education is essential for shifting madhhab understanding from patterns of fanaticism to patterns of tolerance within Islamic educational institutions.

The paradigm of Islamic education requires the integration of Western learning theories with an Islamic perspective to create a holistic approach to education. With the rapid development of psychological theories in education, such as behaviorism, cognition, humanism, and constructivism, it is essential to examine their relevance within the context of Islamic education. This article aims to analyze the integration of these theories in Islamic learning, with a focus on their connection to key Islamic concepts such as reward-punishment (pahala-dosa), reflection (tafakkur), self-actualization, mutual assistance (ta'awun), and consultation (syura). This study uses a literature review method with a qualitative approach. Articles were gathered through Google Scholar and Publish or Perish with keywords "Behaviorism in Islamic Education" AND "Cognitive Learning in Islam" AND "Humanistic Approach in Islamic Education" AND "Constructivism in Islamic Education." Of the initial 40 articles obtained, a screening process resulted in 5 articles that met the publication criteria (2020–2025), relevance to the topic, and open access. The review results show that integrating these theories into Islamic education can enrich the learning process by linking moral, social, and spiritual elements that are essential in Islamic teachings. This literature synthesis reveals the importance of integrating psychological theories with the principles of Islamic education to create a more comprehensive and holistic educational system. Further research should develop empirical methodologies and more detailed and practical application models in Islamic education practice.

Islamic character education faces dual challenges: declining moral values among students and conventional teaching methods inadequate for developing higher-order thinking skills. This study examines the implementation of a smart learning environment (SLE) model to enhance metacognitive understanding in Aqidah Akhlak (Islamic Creed and Ethics) instruction among eighth-grade students at MTs Salafiyah Merakurak. Employing a mixed-methods action research design, involved 16 eighth-grade students divided into two groups. Data collection utilized classroom observations, semi-structured interviews, and learning documentation. The SLE model integrated Google Classroom, interactive video content, WhatsApp Group discussions, and Google Forms assessments to create a technology-enhanced learning ecosystem. Findings revealed substantial improvements in students' metacognitive capacities: planning skills increased from 25% to 75%, monitoring abilities rose from 31% to 81%, and evaluation competencies grew from 19% to 69%. Students demonstrated enhanced learning autonomy, active participation in collaborative discussions, and improved self-reflection on content comprehension. The SLE approach successfully fostered engaging learning experiences while facilitating deeper internalization of Islamic ethical values. However, implementation encountered constraints including limited technological infrastructure and varied digital literacy levels among students. This research underscores the critical need for developing teachers' digital competencies and strengthening madrasah technological infrastructure to optimize technology-integrated Islamic education.

Contemporary developments in science, technology, and socio-cultural dynamics have given rise to various new fiqh issues (masailul al-fiqhiyyah al-mu‘ashirah) that were not explicitly discussed in classical Islamic jurisprudence. These contemporary fiqh issues demand contextual ijtihad that is responsive to current realities while remaining grounded in Islamic legal principles. This study aims to analyze contemporary fiqh issues and examine their implications for the moral formation of students in Islamic education. This research employs a qualitative library research approach by analyzing classical fiqh literature, contemporary fiqh studies, and relevant educational theories. The findings indicate that contemporary fiqh issues such as digital ethics, biomedical technology, and socio-economic practices carry significant moral dimensions that directly influence students’ attitudes and behavior. Integrating contemporary fiqh discourse into Islamic education encourages critical thinking, moral reasoning, and ethical awareness among learners. Therefore, contemporary fiqh learning not only functions as a legal reference but also as a strategic instrument for strengthening students’ moral character in accordance with Islamic values. The study implies that Islamic education institutions should contextualize fiqh instruction to address contemporary moral challenges faced by students.
