This study aims to examine how schools foster togetherness amid religious diversity through a dialogical approach. This research employed a qualitative method and was conducted at SMA Negeri 1 Sumbul. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, while the analysis used the interactive model of Miles and Huberman, which includes data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that three main religions Islam, Catholicism, and Protestantism coexist harmoniously within the school due to strong practices of tolerance. This is reflected in the implementation of religious worship conducted simultaneously at the same time but in different places according to each belief, as well as mutual respect during religious celebrations such as Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr, Easter, and Christmas. In addition, social interactions among students occur in an open, communicative, and non-discriminatory manner. These findings indicate that schools play a significant role in promoting unity through multicultural education, religious moderation, and dialogical approaches. Therefore, schools can serve as effective spaces for shaping students’ tolerant character and their ability to live harmoniously in a diverse society.

Religious  moderation emphasizes balance in understanding religious teachings, so that it can be a bridge in building harmony between Islamic preaching and civic education. This study aims to analyze how religious moderation can be a meeting point between Islamic preaching that is oriented towards strengthening Islamic values and civic education that focuses on the formation of national character. The research method used is a literature study with a descriptive qualitative approach. The results of the study indicate that religious moderation can integrate Islamic and national values through the principles of tawasuth (moderate), tawazun (balanced), i'tidal (fair), and tasamuh (tolerance). Moderation in Islamic preaching helps create an inclusive understanding of religion and respects diversity, while in civic education, religious moderation strengthens nationalist attitudes without eliminating religious identity. Thus, religious moderation plays an important role in building a harmonious, tolerant, and nationally characterized socicty.

In the era of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, the development of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) has transformed the way we understand and practice religion, including the spread of extremist religious ideologies. Religious moderation education has become an essential tool for strengthening national awareness by instilling values of tolerance, inclusivity, and love for the homeland. This education promotes a balanced and tolerant understanding of religion. However, a significant challenge arises from the overwhelming flow of information on the internet, which is not matched by adequate digital literacy. Therefore, religious moderation education serves as a filter to counter radicalization. This study uses a review research method with a qualitative approach to analyze the implementation of religious moderation education through formal, nonformal, and informal channels. The findings indicate that formal education is effective in instilling moderate character through a systematic structure. Nonformal institutions, such as Islamic boarding schools and study groups, also play a crucial role in spreading moderate Islamic values. Meanwhile, informal education within families provides a vital foundation for instilling these values from an early age. This study recommends strengthening the religious moderation curriculum, optimizing the role of nonformal institutions, and empowering families to enhance national awareness and address the potential for radicalization.

This research uses narrative analysis as part of a qualitative approach to find features, preaching messages and story elements. The main focus is how religious films help people better understand Islam by encouraging tolerance, inclusion and relevance to modern society. This study found that Indonesian religious films often depict social and spiritual conflicts that prevent Muslims from maintaining moderate values. Islamic education has a strategic role in shaping the character of students who are able to live harmoniously in a multicultural society. Islamic values such as tolerance, mutual respect and cooperation must be taught to promote harmony amidst cultural, ethnic and religious differences. Although Islamic teachings support inclusivity and respect for diversity, its practice is often faced with challenges. Therefore, an Islamic education approach with a multicultural perspective is needed to teach students to understand that differences are God's decree and must be seen as a social force. This educational concept needs to prioritize human values, moderation and openness, as well as integrating diversity in learning. Through education that emphasizes multiculturalism, it is hoped that a generation that not only adheres to religion but is also able to maintain social harmony can be formed. This research also identifies challenges in implementing multicultural education in Islamic schools and offers strategies to overcome these obstacles.

This study aims to develop an Islamic Religious Education (PAI) curriculum that incorporates multicultural values to foster religious moderation among students. The proposed curriculum integrates principles of cultural diversity and tolerance into PAI learning materials, allowing students to comprehend Islamic teachings while also appreciating and interacting harmoniously with adherents of other religions. Utilizing a qualitative research method with a phenomenological approach, this study addresses multicultural education as a relatively new phenomenon in PAI courses, emphasized as an essential competency for both lecturers and students. The phenomenological approach seeks to understand the daily lives and intersubjective experiences of the participants, aiming to reveal the meaning of concepts and phenomena as perceived by individuals. Conducted in a natural setting, this approach permits unrestricted interpretation of the phenomenon, granting researchers the freedom to analyze the data comprehensively. The findings indicate that a multicultural PAI curriculum effectively promotes an understanding of religious moderation among students and heightens awareness of the importance of multicultural perspectives in religion. These results are intended to guide educators and policymakers in creating a more inclusive PAI curriculum, thereby supporting the development of a peaceful and harmonious society.
