Language plays a crucial role in everyday life as a tool for communication, not only conveying information but also expressing deeper meanings, especially those that are implicit. One of the relevant fields of study to understand these implied meanings is pragmatics. In this context, the Gospel of Matthew, particularly the parable of the sower in Matthew 13:1-23, becomes an intriguing object of analysis because it contains spiritual and moral teachings that are relevant to modern life. This research adopts a qualitative approach with a literature study to explore the implicit meaning within this parable. Matthew 13:1-23 illustrates various human responses to God's word through the analogy of seed sowing, involving four types of soil as symbols of the condition of the human heart. This study also examines the parable of Jesus in the social and cultural context of His time, as well as its implications within pragmatics, which emphasizes the importance of context and the listener's attitude in understanding the message being conveyed. The research findings suggest that the parable of the sower not only portrays the spiritual condition of individuals but also reflects the challenges faced by society in accepting the teachings of Christ. Through a pragmatic analysis, a deeper meaning of this parable can be understood, offering insights for moral and spiritual life today. This study is expected to provide a more comprehensive understanding of Jesus' teachings and their relevance in contemporary life.

Pragmatics, a fundamental branch of linguistics, focuses on the implicit rules that govern human interaction. It delves into how meaning is constructed, conveyed, and interpreted in everyday communication beyond literal language. This study explores the mechanisms of pragmatics in daily life, particularly how context, shared knowledge, and social conventions influence interactions. Key areas examined include speech acts, implicature, and politeness strategies, which highlight the dynamic nature of meaning-making in various social contexts. Speech acts, such as requests, apologies, and promises, illustrate how utterances perform actions beyond their lexical content. Implicature examines how individuals infer meaning that is not explicitly stated, relying on context and shared assumptions. Politeness strategies, which vary across cultures, play a crucial role in managing interpersonal relationships and ensuring smooth communication by balancing social expectations and individual intentions. Understanding these unspoken rules is essential for effective communication, as they often dictate the success of social interactions. Misinterpretations in pragmatics can lead to misunderstandings, social faux pas, or conflicts, emphasizing the importance of cultural and contextual awareness. Pragmatic competence is crucial in multilingual and multicultural settings, where differing conventions and norms can create unique challenges. By synthesizing theoretical insights from existing literature, this study highlights the pervasive influence of pragmatics in shaping human interaction. It underscores the necessity of pragmatic awareness in fostering interpersonal understanding, enhancing communication skills, and navigating the complexities of social life effectively.

This study analyzes Surah Al-Baqarah verse 185 and Surah Al-A'raf verse 26 through the lens of balaghah, focusing on the concepts of al-istikhdam and al-istithrad. Istikhdam refers to the use of words with layered or interconnected meanings, while istithrad denotes the inclusion of supplementary explanations that appear tangential to the main theme but remain contextually relevant. The analysis of Surah Al-Baqarah verse 185 highlights the use of istikhdam in conveying meanings related to fasting, divine law, and guidance, encompassing both spiritual and legal dimensions, thereby emphasizing Ramadan as a month of guidance and forgiveness. In Surah Al-A'raf verse 26, istikhdam is evident in the mention of clothing as a symbol of both physical and moral protection, while istithrad elaborates on its connection to piety as a spiritual value transcending material aspects. Mura'ah an-Nadzir is a concept in badi' science which refers to the technique of combining harmonious and appropriate meanings in one expression without containing conflict. This technique plays an important role in creating rhetorical beauty and strengthening the delivery of the message. Through examples from the Qur'an, such as the combination of Allah's attributes in the sentence " وَهوَ السَّمِيعُ الْبَصِيرُ", it is explained how harmony between meanings can add depth and meaning to the message conveyed. Mura'ah an-Nadzir also has an aesthetic function, facilitating understanding, and emphasizing meaning in an educational context. In addition, this technique strengthens the moral message and evokes emotional interaction in the reader, making it an effective tool in spiritual communication. Thus, Mura'ah an-Nadzir not only functions as a linguistic technique, but also as a bridge to understanding and appreciating the beauty and depth of the Al-Qur'an as a holy book.
