The integration of video games into education has garnered attention for its potential to enhance learning experiences, particularly in fostering engagement and autonomous skill development. This qualitative study investigates EFL (English as a Foreign Language) learners' perceptions of using Disco Elysium, a narrative-driven role-playing game, as a supplementary tool for language learning. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews and thematic analysis, focusing on the experiences of EFL learners who engaged with the game's complex linguistic and narrative content. The findings reveal that participants perceive Disco Elysium as a unique and immersive learning medium, aiding in vocabulary acquisition, reading comprehension, and critical thinking. However, challenges such as the game's advanced vocabulary, cultural references, and morally complex themes were also identified. By centering on learner perspectives, this study contributes to the limited research on the role of narrative-driven games in language learning. The results provide insights into how such games can be integrated into educational contexts to complement traditional EFL learning methods.

This study evaluates the effectiveness of a hybrid citizen–AI legal monitoring system in enhancing urban environmental governance. The hybrid system integrates citizen-driven reporting platforms with AI-powered legal monitoring tools to address the challenges of weak public oversight in urban environmental management. By implementing the system in three metropolitan areas, the study explores how real-time data collection through citizen reports, combined with AI-driven analysis, can improve the accuracy, speed, and responsiveness of identifying environmental violations. The results showed a 45% improvement in oversight effectiveness, demonstrating the potential of hybrid systems to enhance monitoring capabilities beyond traditional methods. The AI system, capable of analyzing large datasets and providing timely insights, enabled quicker identification and categorization of violations such as pollution and waste management issues. The integration of citizen involvement through digital platforms allowed for more inclusive data collection, enhancing the quality and volume of information available for decision-making. This synergy between human participation and AI-driven analysis improved the speed of response to urban environmental challenges, making the system more adaptive and efficient. However, challenges such as data reliability and variable citizen participation rates were identified, suggesting the need for strategies to encourage consistent engagement and ensure the accuracy of reported data. The study concludes that hybrid citizen–AI systems can significantly improve urban governance by enhancing transparency, accountability, and responsiveness, offering a promising solution for cities seeking to address environmental issues more effectively.

The rapid advancement of technology in the digital era has emphasized the need for optimizing learning processes through digital media, particularly in elementary education. Despite the proven benefits of digital tools in enhancing student engagement and comprehension, many educators, including those at SDIT AUM, face challenges due to limited understanding and skills in utilizing such technologies. Specific issues include low proficiency in using digital platforms, minimal creativity in designing interactive learning materials, and inadequate adoption of Artificial Intelligence (AI)-based tools. Previous studies have highlighted the effectiveness of practical training programs in improving teachers' competencies in using digital media, emphasizing the importance of integrating theoretical knowledge, hands-on practice, and continuous evaluation. This community engagement program addressed these challenges through a structured approach, including training on digital platforms like Canva, Gamma, and Zoom, combined with direct practice and interactive discussions. The results revealed significant improvements, with educators demonstrating increased understanding of digital media (from 45% to 85%), enhanced skills in creating interactive materials (from 40% to 80%), and greater motivation to adopt AI-based tools (from 50% to 90%). These findings affirm the effectiveness of the program in empowering teachers to create innovative and engaging learning experiences, with the potential to serve as a replicable model for other schools striving to bridge the gap between traditional teaching methods and digital transformation.
