Reading plays an important role in building a literate generation that is able to improve academic skills, broaden horizons and maintain local cultural identity. However, the low interest in reading in Indonesia, especially among students, is a big challenge. Internal factors, such as student motivation, and external factors, such as family and school support, are highly influential. Strategies such as reading for pleasure, edutainment and the School Literacy Movement are effective in fostering a reading culture as well as shaping students' characters, such as honesty, empathy and critical thinking. Challenges in implementation include limited reading materials, teacher training, technology support and collaboration with the community. Strategic steps, such as enrichment of reading materials, intensive teacher training and community involvement, are needed to overcome them. With good literacy, students can think critically, have character and contribute positively. This research uses a qualitative approach through a literature study to examine the importance of literacy culture.

This study examines the roles of architectural design in enhancing the quality of adaptive literacy spaces, focusing on functionality, social interaction, energy efficiency, and sustainability. The research method used is qualitative descriptive through literature study analysis. The findings suggest that the design of literacy spaces should consider zoning, activities, accessibility, the use of local elements, and sustainability. Literacy spaces should also encourage social interaction through inclusive and flexible spatial arrangements. Furthermore, the application of natural lighting and cross ventilation supports energy efficiency. Adaptive design allows spaces to meet the needs of users of various ages and backgrounds. A well-designed literacy space creates an inclusive, comfortable environment that supports a sustainable literacy culture, and also serves as a center for social interaction and effective education.

This article aims to examine the contribution of the Maktabah of the Indonesian Ulema Council of North Sumatra in facilitating scientific activities related to the Qur'an and interpretation through the provision of collection materials, services, and institutional assistance. This research applies a qualitative approach with a literature study method equipped with a descriptive analysis of the function of maktabah as an Islamic reference center. Data were obtained from institutional documents, collection catalogs, and supporting literature relevant to the development of Qur'an studies. The findings of the study revealed that maktabah functions as a forum for scientific documentation, a channel for the dissemination of interpretive knowledge, and a tool to increase Qur'an literacy for academics and the wider community. The method used included participatory and adaptive approaches, applying the concept of a "mobile literacy corner" adapted to the limitations of local space and resources. The program was carried out over 45 days, covering preparation, implementation, and evaluation phases. The results showed a significant increase in students' reading interest, with a 68% rise in the frequency of visits to the literacy corner. Pre-test and post-test evaluations indicated an average increase in students' literacy skills of 27%, particularly in reading comprehension and vocabulary mastery. Participatory observation revealed the formation of a stronger literacy culture in the school environment, characterized by student-initiated literacy discussions and increased use of references in academic tasks. The program also successfully developed an adaptive and contextual model for implementing literacy corners, which has the potential to be replicated in other remote areas of Indonesia.

This article aims to implement a culture of literacy to children starting from an early age. This is due to the rise of the digital era which makes people, especially children, choose to spend more time playing gadgets. Therefore, at this time there is a lot of degradation of insight and knowledge due to lack of motivation to familiarize themselves with reading literacy. If a culture of literacy is not applied from an early age, this will cause the possibility of interest in reading and writing for the next generation to be minimal or reduced. Therefore, an understanding of literacy culture from an early age needs to be instilled because at that age, the age of the child is stepping on the "golden age" or golden period, which ranges from when the child is 1 to 6.5 years old. At that time, children experience the development of growth and grow rapidly, so that to apply the culture of literacy methods, interest in reading or writing is easy to apply and easier to get used to.
