This study aims to examine the historical legacy of the Sriwijaya and Majapahit Kingdoms in the context of the development of Southeast Asian civilization through a literature review approach. The study focuses on the contributions of both kingdoms in various aspects, including politics, economy, maritime activities, culture, education, and international diplomacy. Research data were obtained from primary and secondary sources, such as historical manuscripts, inscriptions, archaeological reports, and national and international scholarly publications. The findings indicate that the Sriwijaya Kingdom played a significant role as a major maritime power and an international center of Buddhist education that influenced intellectual networks across Asia. Meanwhile, the Majapahit Kingdom was prominent in developing systems of governance, law, and regional integration of the Nusantara through extensive political and trade networks. Both kingdoms not only shaped the social and cultural structures of their respective periods but also laid an important historical foundation for the formation of identity and regional dynamics in modern Southeast Asia. Therefore, the legacies of Sriwijaya and Majapahit remain highly relevant for understanding historical processes, regional integration, and the long-term development of Southeast Asian civilization.

This study aims to describe and analyze the transformation process from maritime empires to nation-states in Southeast Asia, as well as the factors that drove it and its impact on regional societies. The study uses a literature study method by collecting and analyzing data from various relevant primary and secondary sources. The results show that Southeast Asia has a long history of maritime empires such as Srivijaya, Majapahit, and Malacca, which became centers of trade, the spread of religion, and the formation of early social structures. The transformation to nation-states was influenced by the influx of European influence, the growth of nationalism, and changes in economic structures. The transformation process included changes in the formation of national borders, government systems, the development of state institutions, as well as changes in social structures, the spread of education, and shifts in cultural values. The impacts of the transformation included increased state sovereignty, economic development, and improvements in the quality of life for the people, but also brought challenges such as ethnic tensions, corruption, and socioeconomic inequality. This study concludes that the transformation process is a complex journey that shapes the characteristics of modern nation-states in Southeast Asia today.

This study aims to analyze the role of Gujarat, India, as a major hub in the dynamics of the Islamization of the Indonesian Archipelago (Nusantara) and its impact on the formation of a distinctive Southeast Asian Muslim identity. This research employs a library research method by examining various primary and secondary sources, including historical manuscripts, travel accounts, archaeological findings, and relevant scholarly books and journal articles. The findings indicate that the arrival and spread of Islam in the Nusantara around the thirteenth century were strongly influenced by Muslim traders from Gujarat, who functioned not only as economic agents but also as carriers of religious and cultural values. The process of Islamization occurred relatively peacefully through trade networks, intermarriage, Islamic education, and political alliances with local rulers. The dominance of Sufistic teachings, which were adaptive and accommodative to local cultural traditions, facilitated a process of cultural inculturation that enabled Islam to be accepted without significant social conflict. This interaction produced a moderate and syncretic form of Islam, reflected in religious practices, local traditions, and Islamic architectural forms across the region. The study concludes that the Islamization of the Nusantara was a continuous process of cultural dialogue that shaped a tolerant, contextual, and harmonious Muslim identity in Southeast Asia, distinguishing it from Middle Eastern Islamic traditions.

This study explores how Eric Carle’s children’s storybook The Very Hungry Caterpillar creates depth in its narrative through visual components and tactile elements despite its limited text. Using a multimodal analysis approach, this study highlights the texture of the collage, the use of symbolic colors, and the die-cut holes as elements that can be felt. The results of this study show that the physical design of this book is not merely decorative, but functions as a key narrative guide that helps children understand the concepts of growth and change independently. The die-cut holes have a specific role as a physical symbol of hunger, allowing young readers to interact directly with the story. The combination of the book’s materials and visual storytelling has proven to transcend language barriers, making it an effective literacy tool for beginner readers. This research confirms that visual storytelling intertwined with the physical form of a book can convey complex philosophical themes more effectively than narratives composed solely of dense text. The success of this book confirms that tactile and visual elements are important literary tools in the world of children’s literature.

This study examines the effectiveness of the THIEVES strategy in enhancing students’ critical reading comprehension in an English as a Foreign Language (EFL) context, particularly at the senior high school level. Employing a quasi-experimental research design, the study involved two groups: an experimental group taught using the THIEVES strategy and a control group that received conventional reading instruction commonly applied in the classroom. The participants consisted of tenth-grade students of SMA Muhammadiyah 8 Gresik who were selected to represent learners with similar academic backgrounds. Data were collected through pre-tests and post-tests that were specifically designed to measure students’ critical reading comprehension skills, including their ability to identify main ideas, infer meaning, and evaluate textual information. The findings revealed that students in the experimental group showed significantly higher improvement in post-test scores compared to those in the control group. Statistical analysis using paired-sample and independent-sample t-tests confirmed that the observed improvement was statistically significant and not due to chance. These results indicate that the THIEVES strategy effectively promotes active engagement, critical analysis, and deeper comprehension of reading texts. Therefore, the strategy is strongly recommended as an effective instructional approach for improving students’ critical reading skills in EFL classrooms.

This study examines the phenomenon of K-Pop slang usage among young generations and its influence on lifestyle and social identity formation. The research background reveals that K-Pop culture has significantly impacted language practices, particularly through the adoption of specific terms within fan communities. The objective is to analyze how K-Pop slang functions as a linguistic creativity tool and identity marker among Indonesian youth. Using a qualitative descriptive approach, data were collected from social media platform X (Twitter) through purposive sampling of posts containing K-Pop slang terms. Findings indicate that K-Pop slang encompasses semantic shifts, acronyms, abbreviations, and new terminology that strengthen community solidarity and collective identity. The implications suggest that while K-Pop slang serves as creative expression and social bonding mechanism, excessive usage may affect proper Indonesian language proficiency in academic contexts. This research contributes to understanding the balance between linguistic creativity, global cultural influence, and Indonesian language preservation.

The study titled “Designing a Web-Based E-Module for Empowering Tenth-Grade Students’ Writing Skills in Descriptive Text” aims to develop a digital learning medium to improve students’ descriptive writing abilities. The research applies a Design and Development (D&D) approach using the ADDIE model, consisting of analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation, supported by a descriptive quantitative method. The study addresses limitations of traditional, teacher-centered instruction that relies heavily on printed materials by integrating technology into the learning process. The research begins with an analysis of existing teaching practices and learning resources for descriptive text writing. Based on this analysis, a web-based e-module is designed to provide a more interactive and engaging learning experience. The module includes structured materials such as definitions, purposes, text structures, language features, examples, and practice exercises. The e-module is then implemented in a tenth-grade classroom setting, followed by an evaluation of its effectiveness using quantitative data. The results indicate that the web-based e-module effectively improves students’ descriptive writing skills. Interactive features, including multimedia content, self-paced activities, and immediate feedback, enhance students’ motivation and active participation. Teachers and students report positive perceptions regarding the practicality, accessibility, and usefulness of the e-module. Pre-test and post-test results also show a clear improvement in students’ writing performance. Overall, the study concludes that web-based e-modules are a promising instructional medium for enhancing writing skills and supporting student-centered, technology-integrated English language learning.

Contemporary churches face various crises ranging from declining congregation numbers, internal conflicts, to loss of societal relevance. Many church leaders struggle to mobilize congregations to actively participate in church restoration and growth. This research aims to identify Nehemiah's leadership principles in Nehemiah 2:17-18 relevant for mobilizing congregations facing crises and to formulate a Nehemiah-based leadership model applicable for church leaders. Using qualitative library research methods with exegetical approach and content analysis, this study found six main principles: dependence on God, clear vision, shared problem identification, inspirational communication, congregation empowerment, and perseverance in facing challenges. The formulated leadership model is holistic-integrative, encompassing spiritual, intellectual, social, and managerial dimensions with a fluid leadership approach adaptive to dynamic contexts. This model can help church leaders transform congregations from apathetic to motivated and actively participating in church restoration.

Sexual harassment is a criminal act carried out by two people by force with the intention of satisfying lust or an act of revenge. Sexual harassment in the church community is an act that violates Christian teachings where it is carried out outside the basis of marriage. Sexual harassment is carried out by force between men and women outside the husband and wife couple, namely between parents and children or between father and child. The Church has an important role in this. The Church seeks to heal, support, treat, and even accompany victims of sexual abuse through pastoral actions. Sexuality is no longer something taboo to talk about, therefore it is important for the church, government, and even families to discuss sexuality from an early age as an effort to prevent criminal acts or sexual violence. Society must have a sense of empathy and sympathy for victims of sexual violence, as an effort to heal and accept the reality experienced by victims. The church must really act in a real way in spiritual and psychological and social healing of victims.

Karakter : Jurnal Riset Ilmu Pendidikan Islam 2026 Asosiasi Riset Ilmu Pendidikan Agama dan Filsafat Indonesia

The challenges of modernity, including the secularization of knowledge, the fragmentation of values, and the increasingly pragmatic and utilitarian orientation of education, require a fundamental renewal of Islamic educational philosophy. In practice, Islamic education is often confined to normative and textualistic approaches that emphasize the transmission of doctrinal knowledge, which limits its responsiveness to social dynamics, scientific developments, and contemporary needs. This condition weakens the critical capacity of Islamic education in shaping individuals who are faithful, rational, and morally integrated. Accordingly, this study aims to examine Islamic educational philosophy from the perspective of critical thought reconstruction as an effort to address the challenges of modernity without shifting the fundamental principles of faith that serve as its normative foundation. This study employs a theoretical research approach through library research, using qualitative analysis of academic books, peer-reviewed journal articles, and relevant scholarly works on Islamic educational philosophy and critical thought. The analysis focuses on the ontological, epistemological, and axiological dimensions of Islamic education within the framework of critical reconstruction. The findings indicate that the reconstruction of Islamic educational philosophy is both an epistemological and practical necessity in responding to modern challenges. This reconstruction is not directed toward the domain of ʿaqīdah, which is qaṭʿī and normative in nature, but rather toward renewing modes of thinking, operational value systems, and educational practices. Consequently, Islamic education should function not merely at a normative level but as an effective instrument for individual and social transformation.

This study aims to analyze the factors influencing people's decisions to use a Home Ownership Credit (KPR) with a murabahah contract at a sharia bank in Tebing Tinggi City. The research method used is a descriptive qualitative approach, with data collection techniques through observation, in depth interviews, and documentation of people who have used the murabahah KPR product. Informants were selected purposively to obtain relevant and in depth data. The results show that people's decisions are influenced by several main factors, including compliance with sharia principles, price transparency, certainty of fixed installments, ease of financing processes, promotions conducted by the bank, housing location, and the brand image of the sharia bank. The murabahah contract is considered to provide clarity of profit margins from the start and stability of installment payments throughout the financing period, thereby increasing public security and trust. These findings indicate that consistent application of sharia principles and appropriate marketing strategies play a significant role in increasing public interest in sharia housing financing products.

Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) play a strategic role in the regional economy, including in Boyolali Regency. However, this contribution has not been fully matched by adequate human resources (HR). The main problem in this study is the still low capacity of MSMEs' human resources, particularly in aspects of managerial skills, digital literacy, and adaptability to changes in the business environment, which impact business performance. This study aims to analyze human resource development strategies implemented in the MSME context and examine the impact of these strategies on improving MSME performance in Boyolali Regency. The research method used is a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) with a content analysis approach to relevant scientific literature from the past five years. The research process includes determining inclusion and exclusion criteria, searching for literature sources, thematic coding, and synthesizing research findings. The results show that effective HR development strategies can be grouped into three main aspects: skills training, marketing digitalization, and cross-sector collaboration. These three strategies have been proven to contribute positively to improving MSME competency, operational efficiency, market expansion, and business competitiveness. Thus, human resource development is a key factor in driving sustainable improvement in MSME performance, particularly in facing the challenges of digital transformation and increasingly complex economic competition.
