Critical competence plays an important role in students' ability to solve a problem that occurs. Through PBL, students are trained to develop ideas, or ideas that can facilitate them in problem solving and learning activities at school. By using the Problem-Based Learning paradigm to achieve learning objectives in elementary schools, students' critical competencies are developed. This form of learning looks at the relationship between critical thinking and student learning outcomes by using a qualitative approach with literature study as a source of in-depth analysis. A suitable approach to help students build critical thinking skills is a problem-based learning strategy. Students are encouraged to actively participate in solving problems that arise when using the Problem-Based Learning paradigm, according to the learning outcomes. By using this problem-based learning approach, students are encouraged to investigate a problem in more detail and from a broader perspective. Students can come up with original ideas in this situation or ideas for problem solving. By developing students' critical thinking skills and highlighting the important role that teachers play in fostering an enjoyable learning environment and acting as facilitators in the teaching and learning process, the Problem Based Learning model has been proven to improve the quality of teaching and student learning outcomes in educational settings.

Hypertension is defined as persistent blood pressure with a systolic pressure ≥140/90 mmHg. Hypertension is one of the risk factors that most influences the incidence of heart disease, blood vessels and stroke. Hypertension often shows no symptoms, so it is only realized when it has caused organ disorders such as heart dysfunction or stroke. One of the causes of hypertension is unhealthy lifestyle factors, one of which is a lack of vegetable consumption which has the risk of causing hypertension. Based on Field Learning Practice (PBL) 1 activities, namely community diagnosis in Citangkolo Hamlet, Kujangsari Village, Langensari District, Banjar City, in 2023, a priority health problem was found, namely hypertension, with the number of sufferers reaching a percentage of 54% of the total 231 people. This is due to the lack of vegetable consumption in the community. Based on this problem, PBL 2 activities were carried out, by carrying out innovative intervention activities for the SI ELNINO program (Alternative Intervention for Citangkolo Hypertension Reducing Plants) which was carried out so that people would pay more attention to consumption patterns by planting pak choy and celery vegetables as a form of control, namely reducing the blood pressure of hypertension sufferers. . This activity is carried out in the form of counseling and providing education, Training of Trainers, and planting by empowering the Women Farmers Group (KWT) with a vegetable planting movement. This activity was attended by posbindu cadres, KWT, and the Citangkolo hamlet community. Through outreach activities there is a significant increase in public knowledge regarding hypertension as proven by the results of the pretest and posttest with a p-value <0.001. So this activity has succeeded in increasing the knowledge of the Citangkolo hamlet community regarding hypertension.

This research was conducted as a response to students' low interest in learning in English subjects at Al Amin Islamic Middle School, North Cikarang, Bekasi Regency. Several factors that cause this low interest include the lack of attractiveness of the material, monotonous teaching methods, and the lack of connection between English language material and students' daily lives. The impact is a decrease in students' interest in these subjects, which can affect their interest in learning. In an effort to increase students' interest in learning, the Problem Based Learning (PBL) learning model is used, where the teacher gives students ample opportunities to determine problem topics that are relevant to the learning material, even though the teacher has prepared the material that will be discussed in the lesson. The learning process is focused on students' abilities to solve problems systematically and logistically. This research uses a qualitative approach with descriptive methods. Through observation, interviews and documentation, the research results show that the application of the PBL learning model at Al Amin Islamic Middle School, North Cikarang, Bekasi Regency can increase students' interest in learning. English teachers who use the PBL model get good responses from students, where students are active in the teaching and learning process, ask questions actively, and are able to answer questions well and appropriately during discussions. The PBL learning model also encourages students to be more diligent in doing their assignments and provides high motivation to learn. Students find it easier to solve problems and are able to apply the knowledge they have.

This study aims to determine whether there is an influence of the problem-based learning model (PBL) with a STEM approach on the mathematical problem solving ability of grade VIII students of SMP Negeri 17 Medan. This research was conducted at SMP N 17 Medan T.A 2023/2024. The research method used is a quasi-experimental method. The sample of this study consisted of two classes, namely class VIII-3 as an experimental class taught with a PBL model with a STEM approach and class VIII-4 as a control class taught with conventional models. Based on descriptive statistics and categorization of research results, it was found that the mathematical problem solving ability of experimental class students was 67,74% of students in the high category, 32.26% of other students in the medium category, and no students in the low category. Meanwhile, in the control class, 15,63% of students were in the high level of problem solving ability, 53,13% were in the medium level and 31,24% of students were in the category low category. Thus it can be seen that the mathematical problem solving ability of grade students taught with PBL with a STEM approach is better than conventional learning models. Furthermore, with inferential statistical analysis for the t test, calculated t value = 2,42 and ttable = 1,999623, thus t calculated > t table means that the problem-solving ability of students taught with PBL with a STEM approach is not the same as students who use the learning  conventional model. With further analysis, Fcalculated = 5,6847 and F table = 3,998494482, then  calculated F > F table so it can be concluded that problem-based learning models with a STEM approach have a significant effect on students' mathematical problem solving abilities.
