The Evolution of Strategic Management in Business School: From Traditional Approaches to Adaptive Approaches

Abstract
This research aims to explore the evolution of strategic management in business schools, with a focus on the shift from traditional approaches to adaptive approaches. The approach used is qualitative research with a case study design, where the analysis unit includes several business schools in Indonesia that have implemented changes in their managerial practices. Data sources were obtained through interviews with education program managers, lecturers, and students, as well as analysis of policy and curriculum documents. Data collection techniques were carried out through semi-structured interviews, observations, and document studies, while data analysis used thematic analysis methods to identify key patterns in shifting managerial approaches. The research findings show that many business schools are beginning to adopt adaptive approaches to address the challenges of an ever-changing world, which involves the utilisation of technology and curriculum flexibility. The contribution of this research is to provide insights into how strategic management in business schools evolved from a more rigid and traditional approach to one that is more dynamic and responsive to changing environments.
