Inclusive education requires learning approaches that are not solely oriented toward academic achievement but are also capable of supporting the psychomotor and emotional development of students with special needs, including those with mild intellectual disabilities. Students with mild intellectual disabilities commonly experience limitations in motor coordination, emotional regulation, and attention focus, which necessitate adaptive, holistic, and experiential learning strategies. This study aims to describe the implementation of contemporary dance as an art therapy approach in supporting the psychomotor and emotional development of students with mild intellectual disabilities in an inclusive school setting. The study employed a quantitative approach using a Single Subject Research (SSR) method with an A–B–A design. The research subject was one ninth-grade student with mild intellectual disability at SMPN 1 Karangtengah. Data were collected through systematic observation during the baseline-1 (A-1), intervention (B), and baseline-2 (A-2) phases, using indicators of psychomotor and emotional development. The results showed improvements in motor coordination, movement fluency and balance, imitation ability, attention focus, and emotional expression during the intervention phase. In the baseline-2 phase, most of the acquired abilities were maintained despite the termination of the intervention, indicating stability in behavioral changes. These findings suggest that contemporary dance as an art therapy approach has the potential to serve as a relevant and effective pedagogical-therapeutic strategy in supporting the psychomotor and emotional development of students with mild intellectual disabilities. The implications of this study indicate that contemporary dance can be integrated into arts learning or Individualized Education Programs as a humanistic learning alternative oriented toward students’ developmental needs within inclusive education contexts.

This psychoeducation is motivated by the need for service support for students with special needs at SLB Negeri Pembina Yogyakarta. Some students with intellectual disabilities require assistance in recognizing and expressing their emotions. The purpose of this counseling activity is to provide appropriate media needed to support the development of students’ emotional expression in everyday social interactions. The counseling method employed was a play-based learning approach. The evaluation of the effectiveness of this method involved 10 students with intellectual disabilities, consisting of 7 male students and 3 female students in Grade VII of junior high school. Based on the results of the counseling activities, which were conducted in three stages—namely the opening stage, the emotion recognition stage, and the application of the emotion wheel—it was found that the use of the emotion wheel media strengthened the emotional expression abilities of students with intellectual disabilities. This improvement was evident from observable changes in the emotional behavior of some students.

Inclusive education plays a crucial role in achieving equal access and improving the quality of education for all students, including students with special needs. In the context of Physical Education, Sports, and Health (PJOK) learning, the implementation of inclusive education still faces significant challenges, both in terms of teaching strategies, teacher skills, and available supporting facilities and infrastructure. This study aims to describe the perceptions of PJOK teachers and classroom teachers regarding the implementation of inclusive learning for students with special needs in PJOK activities at the elementary school level. The method used in this study is a descriptive qualitative approach, with data collection techniques including semi-structured interviews and documentation. The research subjects consisted of PJOK teachers and classroom teachers who teach at SDN 2 Gobras. The results show that the teachers have a good understanding of the importance of creating a friendly, adaptive, and enjoyable learning environment for students with special needs. The teachers make adjustments in learning activities through modifying tools, implementing small group strategies, providing appropriate motivation, and close collaboration with homeroom teachers and parents. However, limitations in the training received and the support of existing facilities remain significant obstacles. The findings of this study provide important implications regarding the need for ongoing training and strengthened collaboration between teachers to support the creation of more effective and sustainable inclusive education. Therefore, this research is expected to make a positive contribution to the development of inclusive education in elementary schools and raise awareness of the importance of supporting students with special needs in the learning process.

This research aims to identify students with special needs (PDBK) with emotional barriers (tunalaras) in elementary schools. Tunalas is a disorder in managing emotions and behavior that has an impact on students' social interactions and learning processes. The method used in this research is descriptive quantitative, with data collection techniques through observation, interviews and documentation. The research results showed that of the 846 students, 11 students (1.30%) were identified as experiencing emotional obstacles. The main characteristics of students with hearing impairments include difficulties in controlling emotions, a tendency to act aggressively, and difficulties in building social relationships. Therefore, a more adaptive and emotional support-based learning approach is needed to help them participate more effectively in inclusive education. By understanding the characteristics of students with disabilities, schools can develop more appropriate learning strategies to improve their academic and social development.

The findings from this study indicate that educators have the potential to enhance the utilization of educational resources, objectives, tools, techniques, assessments, and learning atmospheres through the implementation of innovative teaching methods. Diverse instructional approaches, ranging from remedial and deductive to inductive and heuristic techniques, can be employed to accommodate elementary-level students with special needs. Collaborative learning, behavior modification, and other methods are also beneficial. Moreover, it is suggested that teachers explore alternative learning aids like puzzles to cater to the unique needs of these students.

The Covid-19 pandemic has forced the government to enforce a physical distancing policy which is the basis for implementing learning from home. This is also something that must be applied to students at SLB Negeri 2 Bantul. The use of information technology that applies suddenly, not infrequently, makes educators and students surprised and limping in its implementation. However, the learning process must continue so that teachers at SLB Negeri 2 Bantul are challenged to create a learning media that students with special needs can understand. The limited knowledge of teachers at SLB Negeri 2 Bantul in making learning media causes the need for training and mentoring of learning media. One of the technological developments that we can use for making learning media is an application for video editing. This application can help to make videos to improve the quality and effectiveness of learning. Application users are expected to support the activities of SLB Negeri 2 Bantul to participate in competitions and promotions as routine activities that must be done every year. The two needs of these teachers are what make them collaborate to implement training programs based on the required classes. The implementation uses the Classical method and Practices using video recording applications and equipment. Community service will be carried out at SLB Negeri 2 Bantul to support improving skills in using software from basic to advanced levels. The result of this training is that the participants can make their own video creations so that they are eligible to be included in competitions and make video advertisements more professional.
