Poetry, as a form of literary work, contains intrinsic elements that are interrelated and shape its meaning. In the poems Hujan Bulan Juni and Tentang Matahari by Sapardi Djoko Damono (1994; 1996), intrinsic elements such as physical and spiritual aspects play a significant role in conveying the message and meaning. Using the theories of Ivor Armstrong Richards (1947) and J.A. Richards (1929), this study examines elements such as line, stanza, rhyme, rhythm, figures of speech, and typography (physical elements), as well as theme, message, tone, and feeling (spiritual elements). This study aims to provide a deeper understanding of the role of these intrinsic elements in shaping the overall meaning of the poem. The research method used is descriptive analysis of the two poems. The findings suggest that these elements work together in delivering deep meaning through the structure and language used by the poet. Readers are encouraged to consider the relationship between form and meaning in understanding the message of the poems.

Poetry is a form of a variety of literature and language that is bound by rhythm, meter, rhyme, as well as the arrangement of lines and stanzas, and based on its types, poetry has several types of narrative, lyric, and descriptive. The relationship between types of poetry and writing poetry is that poetry is a literary work that contains the poet's responses and opinions about various things. Students prefer to rewrite poetry that has been presented in books, so research on the suitability of the title and content needs to be carried out to develop students' abilities. The poems written by students in this research were poetry compositions that they wrote themselves. What is related to cohesion in student poetry starts from diction. Choosing the right and appropriate words to express an idea or thought. Poetry is the result of a poet's interpretation of life. This is how. Using Indonesian, the words literature, susastra, literature and literature have different meanings. The word literature used to be written as literature, but as language developed it was later written as literature. The word literature comes from Sanskrit, namely from the root word cas and the addition -tra. The word cas means 'to teach', while the suffix -tra means 'tool'. So, castra means 'tool for teaching'.

This research also uses library-research (library research) trying to obtain complete information regarding the research topic, directing data issues and analysis sourced from library literature. The results of the research show that: First, there is a decline in the meaning of the idea of function contained in rhymes and dances. The message is not conveyed well, because the function of rhymes and dances has shifted from conveying symbolic messages to just being for entertainment. Likewise, the procession is complicated, long, and the additional costs are one of the reasons the Deli Malay community is starting to stop using this culture. In the past, rhymes that were advice in nature were sometimes made humorous, this shifted the sacred nature of rhymes. The openness of the Deli Malay community has adjusted to market tastes.
