This study aims to explore structuration within the gatekeeping process of the Patroli news program in an episode reporting a case sexual violence aired on Indosiar. The research adopts a qualitative approach using the case study method. Data were collected through in-depth interviews and content analysis of the episode covering a case sexual assault committed by a resident doctor at Dr. Hasan Sadikin hospital, Bandung. The key informant in this study was the executive producer of the Patroli news program. This research employs two theoretical frameworks: Anthony Giddens’ structuration theory and Joseph A Devitto’s gatekeeping theory. The findings reveal that the Patroli news team enforces strict editorial control to avoid regulatory sanctions or public complaints. The program complies with the national journalistic standards, specifically the P3SPS broadcasting guidelines and the journalistic code of ethics. The Study concludes that Giddens’ three dimension of social structure signification, domination and legimitation are evident in the gatekeeping process, these structure, alongside the concept of gatekeeping as the filtering of news content, play significant role in shaping how sensitive criminal cares are selected and presentend to the public.

This study examines the phenomenon of hoax news dissemination through the social media platform TikTok and its impact on Generation Z in Tanjung Pinang. The background of this research is based on the increasing intensity of TikTok usage among young people, making the platform not only a source of entertainment but also an alternative channel of information. The research employed a descriptive qualitative method, using in-depth interviews with ten respondents selected through purposive sampling. The findings reveal that although most members of Generation Z are aware of hoaxes, their ability to verify information remains limited, making them easily influenced by provocative viral content. The most common hoaxes encountered are related to political, health, and social issues, which may lead to public unrest and shape public perception. This study highlights the importance of digital literacy as the main defense against the flood of information in the new media era, as well as the need for collaboration among government, educational institutions, and society to strengthen critical awareness in the use of social media.

This study aims to analyze the use of chronological conjunctions and conjunctions of causality in the news text in TribunJatim.com February 2025 edition. Chronological conjunctions are used to express the sequence of time in an event, while the conjunction of causality connects the causal relationship in sentences. The analysis was carried out by qualitative descriptive method, with data collection techniques in the form of news text documentation published during that period. The results showed that the use of chronological conjunctions was more dominant in narrative news, while causality conjunctions were found in many news and opinion news. This finding is expected to be a reference in learning Indonesian, especially in understanding the role of conjunctions in written discourse. The method used is qualitative descriptive, with data collection through documentation of news texts published during the specified period. The analysis involves identifying the types of conjunctions, their functions, and the accuracy of their usage within the context of the news. The results show that chronological conjunctions are more dominantly found in narrative news that tells a sequence of events in order, while causal conjunctions are more frequently used in analytical and opinion news that emphasize cause-and-effect relationships. These findings provide a clear empirical overview of the patterns of conjunction usage in online news texts. This study is expected to serve as an important reference in Indonesian language learning, especially in understanding the role and function of conjunctions in constructing cohesive and communicative written discourse.

This study aims to determine the effect of the Reciprocal Teaching learning model on the reading comprehension ability of news texts among seventh-grade students at SMP Negeri 2 Hiliduho. The research employed a quasi-experimental method with a Nonequivalent Control Group Design. The pretest results showed that the initial abilities of students in the experimental and control classes were comparable, with average scores of 64.57 and 65.87, respectively. After the treatment, the experimental class showed a significant increase, achieving a posttest average of 81.52, while the control class only reached 74.35. The Reciprocal Teaching model proved effective in creating a collaborative learning environment, encouraging students to think critically, engage in discussions, and teach one another. In contrast, the control class, which used the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model, demonstrated lower participation and higher dependence on the teacher. The hypothesis test showed a significance value of 0.001 < 0.05, indicating that the alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted and the null hypothesis (Ho) was rejected. These results indicate a significant effect of the Reciprocal Teaching model on students’ ability to comprehend news texts. Therefore, this model is recommended as an effective teaching strategy to enhance students’ reading comprehension, particularly in news text material at the junior high school level.

This study aims to analyze the power of sentence structures in constructing conflict narratives in news reports about a foreign national (WNA) causing a disturbance in Kalibata City. Through a syntactic analysis approach, this research examines how sentence structures, lexical choices, and information hierarchies influence public perception of the incident. The data is analyzed using modern syntactic theory and critical discourse analysis, referencing the works of Fairclough (2020) and Halliday (2021), which emphasize the relationship between language structures and media power. The findings reveal that the use of passive constructions, subordinate clauses, and repetition of conflict-related elements intensify the dramatization and tension within the narrative. Thus, syntactic power in news texts does not merely convey information but also constructs a social perception of the reported conflict. These findings contribute to critical linguistic studies and media literacy.

This study focuses on the analysis of news lead styles in the Radar Banten daily newspaper editions 263-264, dated April 30 and May 2, 2025. The lead, or news angle, serves as the initial contact for readers with the news, impacting public perception based on its presentation. There are two main types of news leads: direct and indirect. Direct leads deliver critical information concisely, addressing the core elements of who, what, when, where, why, and how (5W+1H), whereas indirect leads entice readers into the story, offering hints about the content. External and internal factors, including editorial policies and media characteristics, influence the writing style. Radar Banten, a significant local newspaper in Banten, demonstrates flexibility in utilizing both types of leads, catering to its audience's informational needs. The research employs a qualitative descriptive approach, analyzing selected news pieces to understand their structure and writing techniques, ultimately highlighting the effective composition necessary for engaging reporting.

Social media has become one of the main channels for disseminating information, including local news relevant to people’s daily lives. This study aims to analyze the reception of followers of the Instagram account @radarbogor.id in consuming local news. The research used a qualitative approach with a reception analysis method based on Stuart Hall’s theory, which classifies audience responses into dominant-hegemonic, negotiated, and oppositional positions. Data collection was conducted through in-depth interviews with three informants who actively follow the account. The results show that the followers tend to interpret the content from dominant-hegemonic and negotiated positions. They consider the @radarbogor.id account to be a reliable and up-to-date news source, though some still independently verify the information. Factors that influence positive reception include the informative nature of the content, visually appealing design, and simple language. However, criticism was noted regarding the poor audio quality in video uploads, which can affect audience engagement. This study concludes that social media followers are not passive consumers but active interpreters of media messages who critically evaluate the information they receive.
