Diaconal ministry is one form of church service that embodies the love of Christ in serving others. However, in practice, this ministry is often carried out in a charitable manner and has yet to fully address comprehensive and sustainable empowerment of the congregation. This study is driven by the urgent need to develop a diaconal service that not only provides temporary assistance but also effectively enhances the socio-economic independence of the congregation, particularly within the context of Gereja Isa Almasih Pringgading, where some Christian members face economic challenges due to limited access, resources, and institutional church support. The objective of this study is to analyze and describe the role of the Church Council in developing reformative and sustainable empowerment-based diaconal ministry. A qualitative descriptive method was employed, with data collected through in-depth interviews with Church Council members and service recipients, direct observations of diaconal activities, and documentation of church archives and social service reports. Data were analyzed thematically to identify patterns of service, empowerment strategies, and socio-economic impacts on the congregation. The study's findings reveal that the Church Council plays a strategic role in transforming diaconal ministry from mere charitable assistance into a structured empowerment program. Successfully implemented programs include entrepreneurial skills training, micro-business mentoring for congregation members, internal church cooperative development, and the establishment of local economic partnership networks. The impacts of these programs are reflected in increased household incomes, improved economic independence for some members, and strengthened social solidarity within the congregation. This study produces a conceptual model of empowerment-based diaconal ministry that can be replicated by other local churches to sustainably enhance congregational welfare.

This study analyzes the differences between the neoliberal and social democratic paradigms in poverty alleviation policies in Indonesia, by adding an Islamic Economic perspective as an alternative. The neoliberal paradigm focuses on free market mechanisms, deregulation, and minimizing the role of the state, but often exacerbates social inequality. In contrast, the social democratic paradigm balances the role of the market and state intervention through resource redistribution and protection of vulnerable groups through sustainable social programs. Islamic economics offers a complementary approach oriented towards the principles of distributive justice, balance, and solidarity, by integrating spiritual values into socio-economic policies. A qualitative approach is used in this study, with policy analysis of programs such as the Family Hope Program (PKH) and the National Health Insurance (JKN). The results show that the social democratic paradigm is more effective in reducing poverty systemically than neoliberalism, especially through increasing access to education, health, and social protection. However, budget constraints, corruption, and infrastructure gaps remain significant challenges. The Islamic Economic perspective emphasizes the importance of zakat, waqf, and infaq as instruments of wealth redistribution that have the potential to strengthen inclusive and sustainable poverty alleviation policies. This study recommends strengthening the synergy between the paradigm of social democracy and the values of Islamic Economics to create policies that are more effective, equitable, and oriented towards the welfare of society holistically.

This study examines the impact of the use of gadgets and the internet in modern society and how the Catholic Church can provide guidance to its members in addressing the challenges of the digital world. The three research questions addressed are: (1) the impact of gadgets and the internet on behavior and the search for true happiness, (2) the Catholic faith's perspective on the deviant behavior of technology users, and (3) the Church's role in assisting its members in navigating digital challenges. The findings indicate that while the use of gadgets and the internet facilitates communication and entertainment, it can also lead to social disconnection and an unfulfilled search for happiness. The Church, through Catholic teaching, provides moral guidance to mitigate these negative impacts by emphasizing the importance of harmonizing technological advancements with fundamental human values. In the digital realm, the Church plays a strategic role in fostering solidarity and offering a space for authentic spiritual experiences, particularly for the younger generation that is highly dependent on technology, which can be referred to as the "New Emmaus." This study concludes that the Church can reach more believers by creatively utilizing digital platforms and guiding them toward a deeper search for faith amidst the challenges of the digital culture.

From the perspective of Islamic Religious Education (PAI), culture is seen as a strategic means to internalize Islamic values that support the creation of social and spiritual harmony. PAI plays a role in combining religious values with local cultural elements to build a society with character, ethics, and justice. In this context, culture is not only a heritage, but also a learning medium to strengthen solidarity, increase awareness of the importance of diversity, and maintain social stability. Thus, the synergy between culture and Islamic Religious Education is able to create a society that is based on noble values and resistant to the challenges of the times.

The Gospel of Luke portrays Jesus as a universal Saviour who brings salvation to all people, regardless of race, social status, or culture. Through a narrative that emphasises love, inclusivity, and social justice, Luke shows that Jesus' mission is to save the lost, as written in Luke 19:10. Salvation in this gospel includes not only spiritual liberation from sin, but also social and physical transformation. In parables such as the Good Samaritan and the Prodigal Son, as well as His interaction with Zacchaeus, Jesus showed special concern for the poor, marginalised groups, and sinners. Jesus' inclusive approach transcends ethnic and cultural boundaries, affirming that salvation is available to all nations, as expressed in Luke 2:30-32 and Luke 1:50-55. Salvation in Luke includes life transformation that affects the heart, behaviour and social relationships. The gospel also emphasises that God's universal love drives the Church to be an inclusive community that serves all, regardless of background. Thus, Luke conveys a broad idea of salvation, which not only restores people's relationship with God, but also transforms the way we live together through love, justice and solidarity.
