This study aims to design a liquid dish soap made from lerak fruit (Sapindus rarak DC.) as an environmentally friendly alternative to synthetic chemical-based soaps. Lerak fruit was selected due to its high saponin content, which functions as a natural surfactant capable of producing foam and removing grease. This research integrates three courses: Product Design and Development using the Quality Function Deployment (QFD) method with House of Quality (HOQ) to identify consumer needs; Work Measurement Analysis using Operation Process Charts (OPC) to design the production process; and Cost Estimation Analysis using the full costing method to calculate production costs and determine the selling price. Results show that the best product concepts are Concept 4 and Concept 8, characterized by natural lerak surfactant, active ingredient concentration above 15%, pH of approximately 6, citrus/lemon scent, and pump bottle packaging. The production process consists of preparation, mixing, boiling, addition of thickener, cooling, pressing, filtering, and packaging, with a total production time of 142.05 minutes for two 500 ml products. Total production cost is Rp65,184, with a cost of goods sold (COGS) of Rp32,592 per unit and a selling price of Rp34,000 per unit.

Plastic waste, particularly bottle caps, poses a significant environmental challenge due to its slow degradation rate. This study aims to design a functional shoe rack utilizing plastic bottle cap waste to support Sustainable Development Goals (SDG 12: Responsible Consumption and Production). The product development process employed the Quality Function Deployment (QFD) method to translate consumer needs into measurable technical specifications. Concept selection was evaluated using the Pugh Matrix, while financial feasibility was analyzed through the Break Even Point (BEP) approach. The research resulted in an optimal shoe rack design measuring 53x32x37 cm, weighing 1.5 kg, and featuring additional side hangers for socks. The production process involves shredding, molding with resin, cutting, and assembling, with a total duration of 367.03 minutes. Financial analysis indicates that the business reaches the break-even point at a minimum production of 2 units or a total sales value of Rp227,272. This research demonstrates that integrating industrial engineering methods into plastic waste management can produce functional, durable, and economically viable products.

TPS 3R is a community-based waste management approach aimed at reducing waste generation through reduce, reuse, and recycle activities. However, the operational sustainability of TPS 3R still faces several challenges,including  waste processing effectiveness, and community participation. This study aims to analyze the community’s Willingness to Pay (WTP) for waste management fees and to formulate priority recommendations for improving the performance of TPS 3R Banjar Sugihan using the Quality Function Deployment (QFD) method. The research was conducted in Banjar Sugihan Village, Tandes District, Surabaya City, involving 563 household respondents. WTP analysis was carried out using the bidding game method, while QFD analysis was conducted through the preparation of the House of Quality (HoQ). The results showed that the community’s WTP ranged from IDR 16,000 to IDR 19,000 per month. If applied to all 3,758 households in Banjar Sugihan Village, the potential retribution revenue is estimated to reach IDR 60,128,000–IDR 71,402,000 per month. The QFD analysis indicated that the priority strategies for improving TPS 3R performance include enhancing infrastructure facilities, optimizing waste sorting and processing, increasing waste processing capacity, strengthening human resource capacity, and implementing a WTP-based retribution system. Therefore, the implementation of a WTP-based retribution system and priority strategies derived from QFD analysis are expected to support the sustainability of waste management at TPS 3R Banjar Sugihan.

This study aims to improve the quality of gallon water products and strengthen the competitiveness of CV. Anugerah Gemilang through the implementation of Quality Function Deployment (QFD) using the House of Quality (HoQ). The QFD approach is employed to translate the Voice of Customer (VoC) into technical product characteristics as well as service quality attributes that influence customer satisfaction. The research method applied is quantitative-descriptive with the support of qualitative data. Quantitative data were collected through questionnaires distributed to customers to measure the importance and satisfaction levels regarding product and service attributes, while qualitative data were obtained through in-depth interviews to reinforce and validate the questionnaire results. Subsequently, the VoC data were analyzed using the HoQ matrix to determine quality improvement priorities based on customer importance weights. This study is expected to produce strategic recommendations in the form of prioritized product and service quality enhancements focused on customer satisfaction, thereby supporting the sustainable improvement of the company’s competitiveness.

At this time, technological development is something that cannot be avoided. This is because technological development goes hand in hand with the development of science. One of the technological developments that is growing rapidly at this time is the information system. The method used in this study uses the WebQual method, measuring based on the quality of the distribution function (quality function deployment) or commonly called QFD, which is a structured and disciplined process that provides a means to identify and bring customer aspirations through each stage of product and or service development and its implementation. WebQual 4.0 is a measurement to measure website quality based on research instruments that can be categorized into four variables, namely usability, information quality, interaction quality, and overall impression. The WebQual 4.0 method is widely used to show the quality of the website or application used. With many articles discussing the analysis of user experience using the webqual 4.0 method, it has proven effective in assessing usability, information quality, and service interaction quality of an application or website.

The growth of the snack food industry in Indonesia encourages MSME actors to innovate in improving product competitiveness, including through packaging development. UMKM Nambawang, as a producer of fried shallots, faces challenges in packaging design that lacks visual appeal and does not reflect the product’s identity, despite its superior taste quality. This study aims to design more functional, economical, and competitive fried shallot packaging by integrating the Quality Function Deployment (QFD) and Value Engineering (VE) methods. QFD is applied to translate consumer needs (voice of customer) into technical packaging attributes, while VE is used to evaluate the performance and cost-efficiency of design alternatives. The analysis results indicate that key attributes prioritized in packaging development include color aesthetics, product protection, ease of opening and resealing, clarity of product information, and storage convenience. These main attributes are translated into technical elements such as the use of standing pouches, zipper locks, full-print designs, added onion illustrations, and complete product information. The application of QFD and VE methods results in a mockup visually appealing, functional, and durable packaging design, enhancing the product’s added value based on consumer needs and increasing its competitiveness in the domestic market.

The 2024 National Financial Literacy and Inclusion Survey shows that many Indonesians still do not understand financial fundamentals. This condition contributes to difficulty in managing personal finances. Therefore, financial education from an early age is needed to help people develop healthy financial habits. One effective medium for delivering financial education is a children’s savings book. However, most available savings books are less attractive and do not align with children’s preferences. This study aims to develop a children’s savings book design by integrating educational elements, such as a temporary money storage, based on users’ preferences. The Quality Function Deployment (QFD) approach was used to translate customer needs into product visualization. Data were collected through expert discussion, interviews, and questionnaires distributed using purposive sampling. The results show that the highest-priority feature for further development is the temporary money storage integrated into the book’s cover. This element was then incorporated into the children’s savings book design, while considering both functional and educational aspects.

Palm oil is a strategic commodity in the Indonesian economy. Innovation in palm oil filtration is needed to improve the quality and sustainability of production. This article aims to provide insight into the mechanism of the Oil Purification tool based on the Quality Function Deployment (QFD) method and compare it with conventional methods. The method used is a literature review from secondary sources such as journals and scientific articles related to palm oil filtration technology. The results showed that conventional methods have disadvantages such as high oil loss, suboptimal FFA control, and large environmental impacts. In contrast, the Oil Purification tool with QFD and clean production approach offers efficiency, ease of maintenance, and healthier and environmentally friendly filtration results. This innovation is an adaptive and economical solution for small and medium-scale industries.

Max Cleaning, as one of the MSMEs engaged in shoe washing services, has gained the trust of the public thanks to the quality of the washing carried out. Not only does it offer Max Cleaning services, it also sells its products, namely cleaners. Max Cleaning needs to develop packaging for its shoe cleaning products because competition is tight and product packaging is increasingly attractive, useful and at low prices, so it is necessary to develop packaging design. The development of shoe packaging cleaning designs that focus on consumer satisfaction using the Quality Function Deployment (QFD) method lies in the need to understand and fulfill customer preferences and needs in depth. The research objective is to provide an improved design for shoe cleaning packaging products that suit customer needs. Data collection techniques used in research to obtain data from respondents using questionnaires. Based on 5 attributes that influence customer satisfaction, it has a high level of satisfaction and is needed by consumers, namely the unique shoe cleaner packaging product design influences the decision to buy" with a value of 3.39. Based on the analysis of raw weight, the attribute developed is an environmentally friendly packaging product. And packaging improvements have been added with detailed information on the ingredients, as well as how to use the shoe cleaner, adding to the value of the shoe cleaning product packaging. Added to this, the striking color of the logo design gives brightness and a unique impression to the packaging. Changing the material from previously 50% alcohol to 10% alcohol content, this is more effective and safe for the user's health and does not damage the shoe material.

CV Cahaya Setia Mulia is a company engaged in the service and production of sports gloves. June-October 2024 production data, the demand for gloves increased significantly, from 3,850 pcs in May to more than 5,000 pcs, so tailor workers are expected to produce products quickly and do repetitive work for a long time. The chairs used by workers are plastic chairs without backrests. This research uses the Nordic Body Map questionnaire, Anthropometric method, and Quality Function Deployment (QFD) approach. Based on the results of the NBM questionnaire, the complaints felt by 16 workers were obtained, namely that the average worker had the highest complaints in low back pain with an average of 2.1 pain in the right shoulder, pain in the right thigh, pain in the right knee, pain in the right ankle, pain in the right foot with an average value of 1.9, pain in the left knee and pain in the bronze with an average value of 1.8. A QFD approach was applied to ensure the chair design met customer needs. As a result, four key attributes were identified: the chair has a backrest, foam on the backrest and seat, neutral color, and quality material from mahogany wood. Based on Anthropometric calculations from 5 tailor workers, the seat size for the seat width is 49.8 cm, seat height is 35 cm, seat length is 44.2 cm, seat back length is 60.9 and seat elbow base height is 26.9 cm. Sewing chair design using Autodesk Fusion software.

The portable electric canting innovation has been developed to enhance the productivity of batik artisans in Pekalongan by considering Quality Function Deployment (QFD). This research aims to address the challenges faced in the traditional batik-making process, which is often time-consuming and labor-intensive. The research method employed includes identifying user needs, developing questionnaires, and analyzing data to evaluate user satisfaction with the electric canting. The results indicate that the portable electric canting can improve efficiency and comfort in the batik-making process while meeting users' needs for a practical and high-quality tool. Thus, this innovation is expected to contribute to the preservation of batik art in Indonesia.

Sebuah usaha di Yogyakarta yang bergerak di bidang makanan atau minuman cepat saji adalah Restoran cepat saji X.Tujuan dari pemeriksaan tersebut adalah untuk mendapatkan kesenjangan antara harapan dan persepsi. selanjutnyamendapatkan kualitas yang diinginkan pelanggan. Dalam penelitian ini, strategi Service Quality memanfaatkan kreditaspek kualitas administrasi, khususnya tanglibel, reability, responsiveness, assurance, dan empaty terhadap survei. Daripemeriksaan gap 5 yang mempunyai nilai negatif sebagai ciri bahwa pembeli perlu melakukan perbaikan ke VoC (Voiceof customer), untuk dimanfaatkan dalam kerangka kebutuhan pembeli di HoQ yang merupakan kebutuhan QFD. Hasilpengujian menunjukkan bahwa sifat substansial yaitu kualitas kenyamanan dalam berbagai media dapat berfungsi denganbaik, untuk kemajuan dengan nilai 1,8 pada tingkat persepsi, 4,08 pada tingkat asumsi, sehingga diperoleh nilai negatifterbesar khususnya ( - 2.22).

This study examines the application of Quality Engineering methods to Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) through a community service program. Using a qualitative approach based on literature studies conducted via a webinar at Universitas Sehati Indonesia (USINDO), the research explores how systematic quality improvement strategies can be introduced and adapted for MSMEs to enhance product quality and competitiveness, this study analyzed scientific publications, community service reports, and quality improvement program documentation from 2019-2024. The findings demonstrate that Quality Engineering principles-including Quality Function Deployment (QFD), Seven Basic Tools of Quality, and Statistical Process Control (SPC)-significantly enhance product quality when adapted to SMEs' specific contexts. Case studies reveal improvements ranging from 29.5% to 97.92% across various aspects including customer satisfaction, food safety, and production efficiency. The research identifies key challenges in implementation, including technical knowledge limitations, resource constraints, and difficulties in maintaining long-term changes. The successful integration of Quality Engineering methods depends on active participation from SME stakeholders, approaches tailored to local contexts, and continuous post-program mentoring. This study contributes to developing an integrative framework that combines Quality Engineering principles with practical SME needs, supporting sustainable quality culture development in the SME sector.

This study aims to analyze the service quality of PDAM Tirta Danau Tempe in Wajo Regency using the Quality Function Deployment (QFD) method with the House of Quality (HoQ) approach. The research methods used include qualitative data collection through interviews and observations, and quantitative data through questionnaires filled out by 30 respondents from 650 PDAM customers. Validity and reliability tests were conducted to ensure data consistency, while HoQ analysis was used to link customer desires with the quality of service provided. The results show that the most important service attributes for customers are the PDAM's good reputation, timely office operation time, and effective communication by staff. However, some aspects such as the company's compliance with service promises and the availability of a comfortable waiting room need to be improved. The conclusion of this study is that there is a need to improve service quality through a thorough evaluation of these attributes to increase customer satisfaction and strengthen their loyalty. Technical recommendations include improving employee work ethics, handling customer complaints, and more appropriate employee placement to improve PDAM service performance.

Persaingan didunia industri semakin ketat, sehingga kualitas menjadi faktor penting guna memenuhi kebutuhan konsumen. PT. XYZ merupakan perusahaan maklon untuk obat tradisional dan kosmetik. Produk yang dihasilkan antara lain adalah produk herbal. Kemasan menjadi salah satu bagian penting dari produk herbal, namun pada bagian ini ditemukan defect yang tinggi. Metode six sigma dengan pendekatan DMAIC (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, Control) dapat digunakan untuk mengetahui jenis defect, dan memperbaiki proses guna meningkatkan kualitas produk. Sedangkan Quality Function Deployment (QFD) digunakan untuk mengetahui aspek penting konsumen dalam membeli produk serta memperhatikan aspek teknis guna meningkatkan kualitas produk. Responden berjumlah 60 orang pengguna produk tersebut. Pengamatan dilakukan pada bulan Januari sd Desember tahun 2022. Temuan penelitian menunjukkan bahwa temuan Six Sigma sejalan dengan temuan QFD. Temuan Six Sigma menunjukkan reject tertinggi adalah tutup bocor dan perbaikan proses yang perlu diperhatikan adalah avaibility mesin dan skill operator. Temuan QFD menunjukkan atribut penting bagi konsumen adalah mudah menyimpan dan desain kemasan tidak mudah rusak. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa perbaikan tutup bocor dapat dilakukan dengan membuat kemasan tidak mudah rusak sehingga mudah menyimpan. PT. X adalah Manufaktur Valve, Accuator dan Accessories. PT. X mengalami kesulitan dalam memenuhi pesanan pesanan karena proses setting produk Main Steam terlalu lama sehingga kapasitas produksinya rendah, sehingga perlu dilakukan perancangan Jig pada proses setting produk Main Steam agar dapat mengeliminasi waktu pengerjaan setting. Penelitian ini dilakukan pada bagian produksi dengan menggunakan metode analisis Quality Function Deployment. Tahapan dalam penelitian ini menggunakan Voice of Costumer yang berguna untuk mengetahui ketertarikan perusahaan, atribut produk dan respon teknis guna menghilangkan set up time yang lama sehingga tercapai kapasitas produksi. Setelah tahapan tersebut selesai, dilakukan analisis dengan menggunakan metode QFD. Identifikasi quality deployment function (QFD) sebagai salah satu alat yang dapat digunakan untuk mengidentifikasi kebutuhan pelanggan dan menghubungkan kebutuhan tersebut dengan desain produk. PT. X berhasil memangkas waktu setting dengan metode QFD untuk meningkatkan hasil produksi.

Study table is one of the supporting learning activities but the current study table design is not in accordance with consumer needs, especially for children. The development of this study table product is expected to answer the needs of custumers or consumers and produce an ergonomic study table. This multifunctional learning folding table product uses the parameter measurement of the Quality Function Deployment (QFD). The result obtained based on the customer show that there are 7 attributes (customer requitment) and 4 technical parameters ( technical response). In this regard, the product development of a multifuntional folding study table uses the Quality Function Deployment (QFD) method using teak wood. This table also has several features, namely a reading light feature, a glass holder, a storange feature, equipped with a simple design, attaractive practical colors and ideal dimensions so as to increase comfort inusing the folding study table product.
