This study aims to analyze the transformation of Don’s character in the film Jumbo using K.M. Weiland’s character arc framework. The research employs a qualitative method with a descriptive-interpretative approach. Data were collected through repeated viewing of selected scenes that represent character development, and analyzed based on narrative structure, including exposition, inciting incident, rising conflict, climax, and resolution, as well as supported by visual elements such as facial expressions, gestures, and cinematic composition. The findings reveal that Don’s character undergoes a dynamic and gradual transformation. Initially, he is driven by a strong need for social validation, which develops into a negative change arc as he reinforces false beliefs and exhibits increasingly egoistic behavior. At the climax, Don reaches a critical turning point that triggers self-reflection. Ultimately, he transitions into a positive change arc, demonstrated through empathy, responsibility, and concern for others. This study highlights that character development in film is constructed through the interplay of conflict, social relationships, and a structured narrative process.

The development of audiovisual media in the digital era provides a significant opportunity for conveying information, particularly regarding social and cultural issues. One interesting phenomenon is the acculturation of Peranakan Chinese cuisine in Indonesia, which is currently becoming less well-known among the younger generation. This study aims to represent this acculturation process through a documentary film entitled "Jejak Rasa" (Traces of Taste), using a naturalistic visual approach. The method used is a qualitative approach with field observation, interviews, and documentation strategies, integrated with a community organizing process. The research subjects included Peranakan Chinese culinary practitioners in Bandung, such as culinary business owners and museum guides. The production process consisted of three main stages: pre-production, production, and post-production. The naturalistic approach was implemented through the use of predominantly eye-level camera angles, minimal camera movement, and the use of natural lighting to produce authentic visuals. The results of the study indicate that documentary films can be an effective medium for representing cultural values, history, and culinary identity as part of the acculturation process. Thus, this work serves not only as a medium of information but also as an effort to preserve culture relevant to the development of modern media.

This study aims to examine the application of an expository approach in the scriptwriting of the documentary film "Jejak Rasa," which highlights Southern Chinese cuisine in Bandung as a representation of cultural acculturation. The background of this research is based on the declining interest of the younger generation in traditional culinary arts due to the influence of globalization and social media trends. The methods used included literature research, field observations, and interviews with relevant sources, such as culinary entrepreneurs and museum officials. The results show that the expository approach is effective in conveying information systematically, factually, and easily understood through the use of voice-over narration as the main direction of the story. Furthermore, the use of an implied first-person perspective creates an emotional connection between the audience and the material presented. This documentary serves not only as an information medium but also as a means of education and preservation of Peranakan Chinese culinary culture. By combining visual elements, narrative, and interviews, this documentary comprehensively presents historical, social, and cultural values. Therefore, this work is expected to raise public awareness of the importance of preserving culinary cultural heritage amidst modern developments.

The development of documentary films in Indonesia has encouraged the need for presenting reality in an informative manner while maintaining strong visual quality. Documentary films were no longer viewed merely as a medium for recording facts, but also as a creative medium capable of delivering social messages through a cinematic approach. Cinematography became an important element because it played a role in constructing meaning, atmosphere, and viewing experience through well-directed visual management. This study discussed the management of cinematographic elements by the Director of Photography in the documentary film “Mindful Sip: Matcha Beyond The Trend”, which raised the phenomenon of increasing matcha consumption as part of the lifestyle trend among young people. The method used was a creative approach based on expository documentary through the stages of pre-production, production, and post-production. The entire creation process was focused on concept planning, image capturing, and visual as well as narrative refinement so that the documentary message could be conveyed effectively. The results showed that matcha had developed into a symbol of a healthy, productive, and aesthetic lifestyle, yet awareness of responsible consumption was often neglected. The management of camera angle, camera movement, type of shot, and composition was proven to strengthen visual representation and help audiences understand the phenomenon more critically. Therefore, cinematography played an important role not only in producing attractive visuals, but also in clarifying the documentary’s message regarding the relationship between consumption trends and bodily experience.

Documentary film scriptwriting is a crucial element in structuring and delivering information coherently to audiences. This article examines the application of expository narrative in the scriptwriting of the documentary film Mindful Sip: Matcha Beyond the Trend, which addresses the social phenomenon of matcha consumption among Generation Z in Indonesia. The creative process was conducted through pre-production, production, and post-production stages, with scriptwriting as the primary focus. The narrative is structured through three sequences aligned with the three-act framework: sequence orientation introduces the matcha phenomenon contextually and factually; sequence development elaborates the issue across social, scientific, and personal dimensions; and Sequence resolution synthesizes the overall exposition while offering a non-judgmental space for audience reflection. The findings indicate that expository narrative, applied through these three sequences, enables coherent, communicative, and critically reflective scriptwriting. This approach demonstrates how documentary scriptwriting can function not merely as a textual framework, but as the primary instrument in constructing meaningful narratives about contemporary social phenomena.

Strawberries are horticultural commodities that are highly susceptible to postharvest deterioration due to their high respiration rate, microbial activity, and oxidative degradation, resulting in a relatively short shelf life. This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of edible coatings in extending strawberry shelf life through a systematic literature review (SLR) approach. Literature was collected from several scientific databases using keywords related to edible coating, shelf life, and strawberry, covering publications from 2019–2026. From an initial 109 articles, a selection process based on inclusion and exclusion criteria resulted in 35 articles specifically discussing the application of edible coatings on strawberries. The synthesis results showed that all studies reported an extension of shelf life after edible coating application, although the effectiveness was influenced by the type of material, formulation, and storage conditions. Chitosan was the most widely used coating material due to its natural antimicrobial activity and excellent film-forming ability. The incorporation of bioactive compounds such as essential oils, plant extracts, and phenolic compounds was proven to enhance antifungal and antioxidant activities. In addition, nanotechnology-based systems demonstrated better preservation performance compared to conventional systems. However, methodological standardization and industrial-scale validation are still required to support commercial implementation.

Indonesia, as a tropical country, is exposed to high levels of ultraviolet (UV) radiation, increasing the risk of skin damage. Sunscreen is widely used as a protective measure indicated by the Sun Protection Factor (SPF) value. This study aimed to evaluate the effect of active ingredient variations on SPF values and other influencing factors. A literature review with a descriptive-comparative approach was conducted using research articles published between 2021 and 2026 from Google Scholar, PubMed, ScienceDirect, and Elsevier. A total of seven eligible articles were analyzed. The results showed that the type of active ingredients, concentration, combination of ingredients, and dosage form significantly influence SPF values. Natural ingredients generally produce low to moderate SPF values, while combinations of active ingredients result in significantly higher SPF due to synergistic effects. Increasing the concentration of active ingredients also leads to higher SPF values. Additionally, dosage forms such as creams, serums, sunscreen powder and foundations affect sunscreen effectiveness through their film-forming ability on the skin. In conclusion, the combination of active ingredients and higher concentrations provides more optimal protection against UV radiation.

Abstract: One of the most common harmful bacteria, particularly in hospitals, is Pseudomonasaeruginosa, which is also the most frequent cause of wound infections. Because it leads to antibioticresistance and persistent infections, one of the most significant virulence factors it produces isbiofilm. The goal of the current study is to prevent P. aeruginosa isolates from wound patients fromforming biofilms by using plantaricin, which is a peptide with broad-spectrum antibiotic generated byLactobacillus plantarum. In order to produce plantaricin, so that Lactobacillus plantarum isolates from rawbuffalo milk were screened. The plantaricin was then purified using ammonium salts and a gelfiltration column, with a final 40% recovery. The isolates of P. aeruginosa with more production tobiofilm from wound infections were tested for the inhibitory impact of pure plantaricin. The resultsshowed that the plantaricin reduced the development of biofilms in a dose-dependent manner, with alarger percentage of biofilm inhibition reaching 46–68% at 150 µg/ml.

The Bulusari Film Village Community possesses considerable potential as a community-based creative space, yet it continues to face limitations in technical film production skills and community management. This community engagement program aims to strengthen the community’s creative capacity and professionalism through training in scriptwriting, cinematography, production, and film editing, as well as reinforcing organizational management using the Participatory Community Appraisal (PCA) approach. The activities were implemented through five major stages, namely needs identification, formulation of alternative solutions, technical training, short film production mentoring, and strengthening of the community’s management system. The results demonstrate significant improvements in members’ technical competencies across all stages of film production, from pre-production to post-production. The community successfully produced a script and one short film with enhanced visual and narrative quality compared to their earlier works. In addition, the establishment of a new organizational structure, operational SOPs, and a simple administrative system effectively improved community governance. The program also broadened the community’s collaborative network with local government, educational institutions, and other creative groups. These findings indicate that PCA-based empowerment supports increased creativity, autonomy, and competitiveness among local creative communities in alignment with the SDGs, particularly SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), and SDG 11 (Sustainable Communities).

This study analyzes the process of construction and resistance to the double burden experienced by the character Kaluna in the film Home Sweet Loan (2024) through the perspective of Judith Butler's gender performativity. Using qualitative content analysis on 13 key scenes, it was found that Kaluna's double burden of office work and bearing the economic and domestic responsibilities of an extended family was constructed through stylized repetition of acts. The results show that Kaluna experiences a double burden of professional and domestic work shaped by social norms and family expectations. However, the film also depicts Kaluna's resistance to this construction through verbal and emotional actions and personal decisions that challenge the patriarchal structure. This study concludes that Home Sweet Loan not only represents the double burden of modern women, but also shows women's agency in resisting and negotiating their gender identity. These actions deconstruct oppressive gender identities and form a new, independent subjectivity. The film emphasizes that the double burden of women is not a natural law, but rather a social performance that can be resisted.

The rapid development of digital streaming platforms such as Netflix has generated a large volume of content data with diverse characteristics, thereby requiring effective analytical methods to understand emerging patterns and trends. This study aims to classify Netflix content into two main categories, namely movies and television shows, and to analyze genre trends and content characteristics using a data mining approach with the Naive Bayes algorithm. The dataset used in this study is the Netflix Shows dataset, consisting of 8,809 content entries, with the primary features analyzed including genre, rating, and country of production. The research process begins with data exploration and preprocessing stages, including data cleaning, handling missing values, and transforming categorical features to enable effective model construction. Subsequently, the dataset is divided into training and testing sets to objectively and systematically build and evaluate the Naive Bayes classification model. Model performance is evaluated using accuracy, precision, recall, and F1-score metrics to assess the model’s ability to accurately distinguish between Netflix content types. The experimental results demonstrate that the Naive Bayes algorithm is able to classify Netflix content into Movie and TV Show categories with accuracy, precision, recall, and F1-score values of 100%, respectively. The confusion matrix indicates that no misclassification occurred, suggesting that genre, rating, and country of production features provide a very clear separation between content classes. These findings indicate that the Naive Bayes algorithm can achieve exceptionally high classification performance with optimal evaluation results. The results further reveal distinct differences in characteristics between movies and television shows based on genre and production attributes. Therefore, this study is expected to contribute to the development of content recommendation systems and strategic content management within the streaming industry.
