Participatory village development planning is often treated as a technical-administrative routine. In practice, however, planning is inseparable from political dynamics that shape who participates, whose interests prevail, and how scarce resources are allocated. This community empowerment program (PKM) in Kedung Udi Village, Trawas District, Mojokerto Regency, East Java, aimed to strengthen village governance by enhancing the capacity of village officials and community representatives to design and facilitate participatory planning while explicitly addressing the political dimension of planning. The main intervention was a workshop conducted on 22 August 2025, preceded by coordination and situational observation. Workshop modules emphasized: (1) planning as a political decision; (2) navigating dual arenas: formal (Musdes/Musrenbang and RPJMDes, RKPDes, APBDes) and informal (elite networks and gatekeeping); (3) multi-level contestation and policy alignment; and (4) practical tools, including power–interest mapping, programmatic agreements, program tagging for alignment with district planning documents, and transparency/anti elite capture mechanisms. The program resulted in improved participant literacy regarding power relations in planning and produced a follow-up action plan oriented toward institutional advocacy, continuous social control, and routine capacity reinforcement through a university and village partnership.

This study examines how integrating local ecological wisdom and eco-literacy education fosters environmental awareness, behavioral transformation, and health outcomes among Indonesian primary school students. The research responds to the ecological paradox of rapid technological growth amid worsening environmental degradation, where youth eco-literacy remains below 45%, indicating a gap between environmental knowledge and sustainable action. The study aims to develop a culturally responsive model of sustainability education that connects environmental ethics, cultural identity, and public health. Using a qualitative case study design, the research was conducted at SD Islam Kreatif Mutiara Anak Sholeh, Sidoarjo, East Java, from July to August 2025, involving 60 students and six teachers. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews, observations, and document analysis. Four major themes emerged: (1) cultural narratives as catalysts for environmental awareness, (2) eco-literacy as experiential and behavioral transformation, (3) collaborative learning as collective environmental agency, and (4) eco-health as psychosocial and physical well-being. Findings show that integrating Majapahit-era ecological values and local storytelling into eco-brick and composting projects enhanced students’ responsibility, cooperation, and emotional balance. The study synthesizes Eco-pedagogy, Constructivism, and Eco-health frameworks into a Culturally Responsive Eco-Health Pedagogy, demonstrating that sustainability learning rooted in culture and participation promotes both environmental and health outcomes. This model contributes to the global Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) 2030 agenda by linking culture, ecology, and well-being in primary education.

Karangtalun Village, located in Kalidawir District, Tulungagung Regency, East Java, has significant potential for developing Family Medicinal Plants (TOGA) to support community-based health practices. However, the utilization of TOGA in daily health care remains limited due to a lack of knowledge and practical skills among residents. At the same time, the community faces a growing social challenge—digital exposure among young children, which negatively affects their physical, psychological, and social well-being. To address these issues, a capacity-building program was implemented for women involved in the Integrated Guidance Post (Posbindu) through training on TOGA cultivation and digital literacy education using the Community-Based Participatory Research (CBPR) approach. This participatory model actively engaged community members in the planning, implementation, and evaluation stages. The program results showed an increase in participants’ understanding of TOGA as an alternative for self-care and traditional medicine, greater awareness of the adverse effects of excessive gadget use among children, and positive behavioral changes in parenting, such as setting screen-time limits and replacing gadget use with creative family activities. These findings demonstrate that integrating local wisdom–based education with digital literacy can effectively strengthen family resilience and promote sustainable well-being in the digital era.

In the era of digital transformation, modern, systematic, and integrated archive management has become a crucial element in creating effective, efficient, and accountable education governance. Office Management and Business Services (MPLB) teachers in East Java still face obstacles in implementing technology-based archive management due to limited digital literacy, lack of supporting facilities, and minimal ongoing training relevant to 21st-century needs. This Community Service (PKM) activity aims to improve the professional competence of MPLB teachers in modern archive management through interactive workshop-based training, intensive mentoring, and direct simulation of the use of digital archiving applications. The implementation methods included participant needs analysis, problem-solving-based module development, digital archive management practice using a cloud system, and pre-test and post-test-based evaluation to measure competency improvement. The results of the activity showed an average increase in participant understanding of 42%, a 58% increase in operational skills in using archiving applications, and a 35% increase in archive management time efficiency. In addition, teachers are able to implement an electronic file classification system in schools and build a database of digitized documents. These activities strengthen transparent and sustainable educational administration, as well as supporting the realization of inclusive and globally competitive education in line with the Asta Cita vision towards Indonesia Emas 2030.

A safe and healthy environment is crucial to minimizing accidents and occupational diseases, and this is where Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) comes in. Workers in the informal sector, such as online drivers, are more likely to experience musculoskeletal problems, especially low back pain (LBP), because they frequently lack proper occupational protection and health services. LBP is a complaint of lower back pain that can be brought on by extended periods of static sitting, bad posture, and personal characteristics like body mass index, smoking, and length of service. The purpose of this program is to educate online drivers in Malang City, East Java, and help them avoid LBP. The risk of LBP can be decreased in part by promoting physical activity and education. One recommended intervention is the William Flexion Exercise (WFE), an exercise aimed at improving posture, increasing muscle strength and flexibility, and reducing lower back pain. Implementing WFE education and training for online car drivers is anticipated to strengthen OHS awareness and reduce the incidence of LBP among informal sector workers.

Mental toughness training is an important requirement for young Petanque athletes, given that this sport demands high concentration, emotional stability, and the ability to respond quickly and appropriately to competitive pressure. This community service program aims to improve the psychological abilities of young athletes through training focused on anxiety management, strengthening focus, developing a positive mindset, and increasing self-confidence. The training method was conducted classically through the delivery of material and direct practice designed according to the psychological needs of FOPI East Java athletes.
