Religious tolerance is an essential value that should be introduced from an early age, especially in Indonesia as a multicultural country with diverse ethnic, cultural, and religious backgrounds. Early childhood education (ECE) has an important role in fostering tolerant attitudes through meaningful learning experiences. One effective medium is local wisdom-based storybooks, which integrate cultural values and social norms into narratives accessible to children. This study aims to analyze religious tolerance values contained in local wisdom storybooks and their relevance to multicultural education in ECE. The research uses a qualitative approach with content analysis. Data sources include Indonesian folktales such as Bawang Merah dan Bawang Putih, Malin Kundang, Si Pitung, Lutung Kasarung, and Timun Mas. Data were collected through documentation and systematic reading, then analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model involving data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings show that these storybooks contain values of respect for differences, empathy, solidarity, cooperation, and peaceful conflict resolution. These values support multicultural education in ECE through storytelling, discussions, role-playing, and culturally responsive learning activities. The study concludes that local wisdom storybooks are authentic and culturally relevant resources for developing children’s multicultural competence and religious tolerance from an early age.

This study aims to describe the religious habituation strategies implemented at PAUD Adz-Dzikra in developing religious and moral values among children aged 5–6 years, as well as to analyze the behavioral changes resulting from these practices. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, the research involved 50 children and 4 teachers. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, and were analyzed using data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that the habituation activities—such as Iqra reading practice, short surah memorization, Dhuha prayer, and the Friday Cleaning program—significantly contributed to the development of children’s religious and moral values. Children not only recognized basic religious teachings but were also able to apply them in real actions, including reading hijaiyah letters, performing simple worship, demonstrating politeness, honesty, helpfulness, and maintaining personal and environmental cleanliness. The religious habituation strategies applied at PAUD Adz-Dzikra proved effective in internalizing religious and moral values in accordance with the indicators of the Early Childhood Development Achievement Standards (STPPA) stated in the Ministry of Education and Culture Regulation No. 137 of 2014. This study confirms that consistent habituation is a fundamental approach to developing religious character in early childhood.

This community outreach activity was conducted at the Wahyu TPQ/RA Foundation, focusing on the implementation of religious character education through daily habituation activities for early childhood. The main issue behind this activity is the importance of instilling religious values from an early age to shape a generation with noble morals and Islamic character. The method used was a qualitative method with a participatory approach, through observation, interviews, and documentation during religious habituation activities such as prayers before and after studying, reading short surahs, practicing congregational prayers, and Friday Infaq activities. The results of the activity showed a significant increase in children's involvement in religious activities and their consistency in carrying out positive habits. Children became more accustomed to prayer, their manners improved, and an awareness of sharing emerged through infaq activities. These findings are in line with the theory of habituation (habit formation), which emphasizes repetition as a strategy for forming character. This activity contributes to the development of science in the field of early childhood education, particularly in the aspect of religious character education, and can be a model of good practice that can be replicated by similar educational institutions.

The literacy level of primary school-age children in Indonesia is still relatively low, which has an impact on children's academic ability and cognitive development. This study aims to identify and analyze the factors that influence the lack of literacy in primary school-age children. The method used was literature study and field observation with a qualitative approach. The results show that low literacy is caused by several main factors, namely the lack of reading habits at home, limited facilities and interesting reading materials, less varied learning methods, and the minimal role of teachers and parents in fostering interest in reading. In addition, the influence of technological developments also plays a role in diverting children's attention from reading activities. The conclusion of this study emphasizes the importance of collaboration between schools, families and communities in creating an environment that supports an early literacy culture.

Religious character is one aspect of character values related to an individual's relationship with God. Religious character is considered a key point that needs to be instilled and developed from an early age in children. This serves as the foundation of religious teachings in the lives of individuals and society as a whole. The aim of this research is to understand the formation of religious character among Islamic boarding school students through the programs of reading the Quran and performing the Dhuha prayer at PPTQ Al-Mustaqimiyyah. The research method used is qualitative, employing data collection techniques such as observation, interviews, and documentation. Data sources were obtained through interviews with administrators, teachers, and students. The results indicate that the Quran reading and Dhuha prayer program has a positive impact on shaping the religious character of the students. This is reflected in the improvement of Quran reading skills, awareness in worship, discipline, responsibility, honesty, and the cultivation of good morals, attitudes, and behavior. With these activities, it is expected that students will be motivated and enthusiastic to enhance their memorization of the Quran, not only by reading and memorizing but also by understanding the meaning of the sacred verses and applying them in community life. The improvement in worship is expected to help them distinguish between noble moral values and reprehensible behavior, forming good habits that are difficult to replace in the future.

Religious education and character education are two related concepts. In its application, Al-Quran teaching plays a very important role in shaping children's character through guidance, continuous education and advice to instill religious, independent and communicative qualities in them from an early age. The aim of this research is to develop the implementation of religious character in higher education religious activities. The research methodology used is qualitative. With religious education that teaches the art of reading the Koran and its translations, the role of Taman Al-Coran (TPQ) is very important in forming the character of babies from an early age. Apart from that, there are other religious practices, such as memorizing short poetry and daily prayers, which can indirectly provide Islamic life lessons. However, a child's character must also be shaped and guided by his family so that he grows into a good person.  The application of religious character in religious activities takes the form of participation in what are called "testimony and prayer activities" (Dhuha), direct direction of tahfidz, tilawati, and Friday blessing activities carried out in the context of santri activities. develop religious character. There is a positive correlation, meaning that there is a positive influence of religious activities on students' religious character. Religious activities are a useful means of developing and practicing religious character. Character development through positive habits will give birth to the habit of appreciating lessons, values, thoughts, ideology, or even doctrine, so that it becomes a belief and fosters a sense of self-awareness of reality or normative values that appear in actions and attitudes. With the aim of being applicable to all schools in Indonesia, this research has implications for the growth of religious character in education.
