This study aims to explore issues faced by students and the contribution of guidance and counseling (BK) services in addressing various challenges at MTSN Cirebon. The issues studied include low levels of discipline, school withdrawal behavior, lack of learning motivation, and smoking habits among students. This study employed a qualitative, descriptive approach. Participants in the study consisted of BK teachers, students, and student organizations (OSIM and MPK) selected using a purposive sampling technique. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation. Data analysis was conducted using an interactive model involving data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. Its validity was tested through triangulation of sources and techniques. The findings of this study indicate that the issues faced by students are influenced by internal and external factors, such as lack of self-awareness, low learning motivation, environmental impacts, and excessive use of social media. BK services play a vital role in addressing these issues through preventive and curative approaches, as well as collaboration between teachers, students, parents, and school organizations. In addition, consistent discipline, engaging learning methods, and monitoring of student behavior are also crucial elements in problem-solving efforts. This research confirms that resolving student issues requires a comprehensive and collaborative approach across all parties within the school environment. Guidance and counseling services play a strategic role in supporting students in overcoming challenges and developing their full potential.

The number of students arriving late often disrupts the classroom atmosphere and disrupts adherence to school rules. This study aims to assess the effectiveness of the behavioral contract technique in changing this habit. Using a qualitative approach focused on literature review, this study found that internal factors within students and environmental factors are the main causes of their tardiness. Behavioral counseling can help change behavior through reinforcement and habit training, while the behavioral contract technique provides clear rules and agreements that make students more responsible. Behavioral changes occur gradually and are more effective if students are involved and there is a balance between rewards and punishments. Therefore, this technique is suitable for use as a practical way to train student discipline in the school environment.

This is a worrying issue in the digital age and has been shown to significantly contribute to low student academic achievement. This research aims to examine the role of Guidance and Counseling (BK) services in addressing social media addiction in students with low academic achievement. The method used in this research is library research with a qualitative approach through content analysis and literature synthesis techniques sourced from various scientific references published between 2020 and 2025. The results show that students addicted to social media have low self-control, resulting in academic procrastination and a consistent decline in learning achievement. GC services have proven to play a strategic role through preventive, curative, and developmental functions implemented through classical guidance, individual counseling, and group counseling. The Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) approach and self-management technique have proven most effective in helping students reduce social media addiction and improve learning discipline. However, the effectiveness of GC services is still constrained by the non-ideal ratio of counseling teachers, the lack of digital literacy-based GC programs, and students' negative stigma toward counseling services. This study recommends developing GC programs specifically designed to address digital addiction by involving the entire school ecosystem consistently.

Academic procrastination is the behavior of deliberately delaying the completion of tasks even though individuals are aware of the negative consequences for their learning outcomes. This phenomenon is commonly found among students at various educational levels, ranging from secondary school to higher education, and often results in decreased academic achievement, lower quality of completed assignments, and increased levels of academic stress among students. This condition indicates that academic procrastination has become an important issue that requires attention within the educational process. This study aims to examine self-regulation as an indicator for the early detection of academic procrastination in the context of guidance and counseling services in educational settings. The method used in this study is a literature review by analyzing various scientific journal articles relevant to the research topic. The results of the review show a consistent negative relationship between self-regulation and academic procrastination. Students who possess a high level of self-regulation tend to be more capable of managing their time, emotions, and learning motivation effectively, enabling them to be more disciplined in completing academic tasks. Conversely, low levels of self-regulation contribute to an increased tendency to delay academic tasks. These findings confirm that self-regulation can serve as a strategic indicator for early detection as well as a target for preventive interventions through guidance and counseling services in schools.

Discipline is a fundamental characteristic that supports student learning success. However, at the UPT SMPN 2 Galesong Selatan, high rates of lateness and irregular student behavior are still found, so an in-depth study of the school's role in fostering such discipline is needed. This study aims to understand school dynamics, identify supporting and inhibiting factors, and formulate effective strategies for improving disciplined behavior. Using qualitative methods and an interpretive phenomenological approach, data were obtained through interviews, 14 days of observation, and documentation review. Then, they were analyzed using the Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña model. The research findings indicate that coordination between the principal, vice principal for student affairs, guidance counselor, and student council president has a significant contribution to fostering student discipline. The micro-skills-based counseling program and the “Discipline Challenge” activity initiated by the student council have proven effective in increasing student compliance. The main obstacles that still arise include low parental involvement and increased teacher fatigue during the final lesson period. Based on these results, the study concluded that the implementation of teacher rotation on duty, the use of digital behavioral contracts, and strengthening the role of the Student Council (OSIS) are relevant and sustainable strategies in efforts to improve student discipline.

Psychology is a scientific discipline that aims to understand human behavior. The differences in human behavior in response to the presence of stimulus have proven that every human being is unique and not the same, and their needs are different. No human being is the same psychologically even though their physical condition looks the same to the naked eye. This affects human abilities as well when faced with the source of the problem at hand. Every human being must constantly develop their competence, so as not to experience a mental crisis that can eventually lead to pathological disorders. Understanding human uniqueness especially in cognitive, affective, and psychomotor abilities will help in the smoothness of the counseling process. At SMAN 5 Tasikmalaya, the counseling process is not based on psychological theory alone, but depends on the student. How to approach students who have problems at this high school with one of the ways in each class there is 1 hour of counseling lessons a week, so that students do not have fear, but students become more courageous to consult the BK teacher.
