Waste management has become a critical environmental issue at both global and national levels due to increasing population and changing consumption patterns. In Indonesia, waste generation exceeds 60 million tons annually, with a significant portion consisting of plastic waste that requires hundreds of years to decompose. One of the main challenges in addressing this issue is the low level of public awareness and understanding regarding waste types and their decomposition time. This community service program conducted by students of Universitas Negeri Padang aims to improve environmental awareness through environmental education and community empowerment using an innovative visual medium in the form of waste decomposition time educational boards. The activity was implemented in Pasar Hilir Hamlet, Lumindai Village, using a participatory approach involving observation, socialization, board design, production, and installation. The results indicate that the program successfully enhanced community knowledge regarding the differences between organic and inorganic waste and their environmental impacts. The educational boards, placed in strategic locations near waste disposal areas, function as effective visual tools that continuously deliver information and reinforce environmentally responsible behavior. In addition, this program contributes to improving environmental cleanliness, strengthening community participation, and increasing environmental literacy. Therefore, the innovation of waste decomposition time educational boards serves not only as an informative medium but also as a sustainable educational tool to promote long-term behavioral change toward environmental awareness.

The rapid growth of short-video-based social media platforms, particularly TikTok, has significantly influenced students learning behavior and productivity. This study aims to analyze the relationship between TikTok usage and students learning productivity. A qualitative literature review method was employed by examining relevant national and international scholarly articles published between 2021 and 2026. The data were analyzed using thematic synthesis to identify consistent patterns and key factors shaping learning productivity in the context of TikTok usage. The findings reveal a consistent pattern indicating that TikTok usage exerts an ambivalent impact on students learning productivity. Excessive and entertainment oriented use is associated with decreased concentration, increased academic procrastination, and poor time management. In contrast, purposeful use of TikTok through educational content and microlearning formats contributes to higher learning motivation, academic engagement, and creativity. These effects are strongly influenced by usage objectives, duration of consumption, and students self regulation abilities. This study concludes that TikTok is not a single determinant of learning productivity but functions as an amplifier of students learning behaviors. The findings contribute to the literature on social media and education by providing a conceptual foundation for developing digital literacy and time management strategies in higher education.

The rapid development of information technology has transformed social media into a digital space that plays a crucial role in shaping the mindset, behavior, and lifestyle of young generations. TikTok is one of the most dominant platforms used by Generation Z, particularly students, due to its ability to present algorithm-based content that aligns with user interests. This condition has the potential to cause psychological stress in the form of Fear of Missing Out (FOMO), which reflects social anxiety due to the perception of being late in keeping up with trends, information, or experiences that hold a dominant position in the social landscape. This research initiative aims to examine the influence of TikTok usage on the lifestyle configurations of Generation Z students, with FOMO serving as a determinant that strengthens this relationship. This study is designed within the quantitative tradition with a positivist epistemological orientation. The study population includes 250 students from the Faculty of Computer Science at the National Pasim University in Bandung, with a sample size of 72 respondents derived using Slovin's formula. The analysis results indicate that TikTok usage and the level of FOMO have a positive and significant impact on changes in students' lifestyles. The regression coefficient estimates are in the positive direction, with a significance value exceeding the critical threshold of 0.05, indicating a unidirectional relationship between the variables. The model determination estimate, at around 57.5%, confirms that TikTok and FOMO are able to explain a significant portion of the variation in students' lifestyles, while the remainder is influenced by factors outside the scope of this study. This finding confirms that TikTok functions not only as a medium of entertainment but also as an agent shaping lifestyles influenced by social and psychological pressures. Therefore, strengthening digital literacy is crucial so that students can use social media more rationally and responsibly.

This literature study examines the process of self-regulation in transforming compliance with school rules originating from external pressure into behavioral regularity emerging from personal awareness, and its impact on the effectiveness of student learning outcomes. Using a qualitative approach with content analysis method, this study synthesizes relevant literature to build a theoretical framework on how self-regulation facilitates the internalization of disciplinary values. The findings reveal that self-regulation occurs through a series of interconnected stages including goal setting, strategy planning, self-monitoring, evaluation, and adjustment. The success of this process is determined by internal motivation, appropriate environmental support, positive direct experiences, and healthy emotional management. Strong self-regulation directly impacts learning outcome effectiveness through improved cognitive strategies, strengthened intrinsic motivation, enhanced time and environment management, and developed capacity to constructively cope with failure. Learning outcomes achieved through self-regulation processes are characterized by lasting understanding, knowledge transfer ability, and the formation of lifelong learning dispositions. Schools and teachers play strategic roles in strengthening self-regulation through curriculum design that supports autonomy, formative feedback, role modeling, and collaboration with parents. This study contributes theoretically by positioning self-regulation as the central mechanism bridging external influences and internal disposition formation.

Drug abuse among adolescents has been increasing, including among youth in Papua. According to data from the National Narcotics Agency (BNN) of Papua Province, there was a 1.73% increase in 2023. One of the contributing factors to adolescent involvement in drug abuse is low self-control. This study aimed to provide self-control training to help prevent drug abuse among adolescents independently. The program involved 37 vocational high school students in Jayapura City and employed a one-group pretest–posttest experimental design without a control group. The intervention consisted of self-control training delivered through lectures, discussions, and a structured learning module. The results indicated a significant improvement in self-control before and after the intervention, as evidenced by a significance value of 0.000 (p < 0.05) using a paired sample t-test, with an increase in the mean pre-test score (M = 46; SD = 7) to the mean post-test score (M = 48; SD = 6). These findings suggest that students of SMK Negeri 9 Jayapura experienced an improvement in self-control after participating in the training. Practically, this study demonstrates that self-control training can serve as an effective psychological intervention to address drug abuse and harmful substance use among adolescents. This intervention not only helps reduce addictive behaviors but also has the potential to enhance students’ quality of life and academic achievement.

Online gambling is a form of addictive behavior that often begins with simple experimentation. Early wins tend to encourage individuals to continue gambling with increasingly larger stakes, driven by the belief that higher bets will lead to greater profits. Along with the rapid advancement of digital technology, online gambling has become more accessible to various groups, including university students, through convenient and flexible online platforms. Although it is often perceived as a form of entertainment, online gambling has significant negative impacts. This study aims to analyze the effects of online gambling on students’ mental health. The research uses a qualitative approach, with data collected through observations and interviews involving respondents who engage in online gambling activities. The findings reveal that online gambling has detrimental effects on students’ psychological well-being, including increased levels of stress, anxiety, depression, and sleep disturbances. Furthermore, it contributes to decreased concentration, reduced learning motivation, and declining academic performance. Truancy among high school students continues to be a serious concern that has negative effects on both academic outcomes and social development. This study seeks to analyze the application of reality therapy as an intervention to minimize truancy behavior. The research utilizes a literature review approach by evaluating six relevant scholarly articles published over the past decade. The findings suggest that truancy is caused by a combination of internal factors, such as lack of learning motivation and feelings of boredom, and external factors, including family environment and peer influence. Conventional approaches that rely heavily on punishment and external control are considered less effective in creating lasting behavioral improvements. On the other hand, reality therapy emphasizes personal responsibility, present actions, and self-assessment, allowing students to better understand their behavior and make more positive decisions. The results demonstrate that this approach enhances students’ self-awareness, responsibility, and decision-making abilities. Therefore, reality therapy can be regarded as an effective alternative counseling method to address truancy behavior in schools and to support long-term behavioral change.
