Mastering kanji characters is a crucial aspect of learning the Japanese language, yet many beginner learners face challenges in memorizing their forms, meanings, and readings. To support independent learning, digital applications such as Japanese Kanji Study offer practical and flexible alternatives. This study aims to analyze the features of the Japanese Kanji Study application and evaluate its effectiveness as a learning medium. The research adopts an exploratory qualitative approach, involving a seven-day direct investigation of the application’s core features, along with user reflection and comparison with two similar applications. The results indicate that Japanese Kanji Study provides a user-friendly interface, content organized by JLPT levels, and features that facilitate understanding of meanings, readings, and stroke order of kanji. Over the exploration period, the author successfully learned 35 N5-level kanji characters. User reflections show that the application is effective in improving kanji comprehension, although further development is needed in terms of interactivity and learning motivation. In conclusion, Japanese Kanji Study serves as a valuable self-learning tool for kanji, particularly for beginner learners.

This study aims to identify and describe the most effective teaching strategies in improving level 3 fluent reading skills in lower grade elementary school students. Level 3 fluent reading skills include the ability to read at an appropriate speed, expressive intonation, and good comprehension of reading content. Through a descriptive qualitative approach, this study explores and analyzes various learning techniques that have been proven to support the improvement of reading fluency in early childhood. The research findings reveal that the application of explicit teaching methods, repetition in reading exercises, the use of paired reading techniques, the use of reading texts with levels of difficulty, and active involvement from parents, can synergistically encourage the development of students' reading skills significantly. This study provides important contributions both theoretically and practically, especially for educators, in designing systematic, comprehensive, and sustainable reading learning programs to improve students' literacy competencies from an early age.

This study aims to analyze the role of the Institute for the Development of Qur'anic Recitation (LPTQ) in enhancing the achievements of qari and qariah. LPTQ plays a crucial role as an institution not only responsible for organizing the Musabaqah Tilawatil Qur'an (MTQ) but also in supporting the continuous development of qari and qariah in various aspects, including recitation techniques, understanding of tajwid, and building confidence. This study uses a qualitative approach with a case study method, collecting data through in-depth interviews, observations, and document analysis. The role of LPTQ in enhancing the achievements of qari and qariah includes organizing the Musabaqah Tilawatil Qur’an, improving the quality of Qur'an reading, writing, and interpretation, holding selection/STQ events, and conducting Training Centers (TC). These findings indicate that LPTQ contributes significantly to improving the quality and achievements of qari and qariah in MTQ competitions. However, there are still obstacles that LPTQ Kerinci faces in increasing the achievements of qari and qariah, such as limited funds and resources, a shortage of qualified trainers, insufficient training facilities, limited training time, lack of government support, and a lack of tiered training programs. Recommendations from this study include increasing budget allocations, providing professional trainers, and developing sustainable programs to ensure the quality and continuity of LPTQ coaching.

This study was motivated by the need to understand the impact of changing the education curriculum on elementary school students. Curriculum changes often pose challenges in their implementation, especially in terms of literacy in elementary school students. In addition, there are factors that influence student literacy such as the change from the 2013 curriculum to the independent curriculum, lack of support and attention from parents to students, and support from student schools. The purpose of this study was to identify the impact of changing the education curriculum on elementary school students. The research method used is qualitative descriptive with a literature study design. The literature review was conducted by examining information collected from primary and secondary data sources, including citing relevant references. The results of the study indicate that the implementation of the independent curriculum also raises concerns about students' basic skills, especially in terms of reading because many students in Indonesia have difficulty reading, which can have a negative impact on their learning achievement in the future. Therefore, the results of this study are expected to contribute to the understanding and implementation of the independent curriculum in children's literacy

The low interest in reading among children in Indonesia is a serious challenge in developing quality human resources in the future. A culture of literacy that has not been formed since early childhood has an impact on the weakness of children's critical thinking, analytical skills, and imagination. This article aims to examine various approaches to child empowerment in increasing interest in reading and literacy through literature studies. Several strategies analyzed include reading corners, school literacy movements, family-based reading programs, and creative approaches such as storytelling methods and the use of digital media. The results of the review show that a participatory approach that actively involves families, schools, and communities has proven to be more effective in increasing children's interest in reading and fostering sustainable literacy habits. In addition, the provision of relevant, varied, and enjoyable reading media for children is an important factor in strengthening a reading culture. Cross-sector synergy is needed to create a conducive literacy ecosystem from an early age.

This study aims to analyze intensive reading skills among fifth-grade elementary school students. Intensive reading is a vital skill that supports information comprehension and serves as a foundation for mastering other subjects. The research employs a qualitative descriptive approach using a case study method. Data were collected through direct observation, audio recordings, and document analysis of previous reading assessment results. Evaluation involved cognitive tests with multiple-choice questions and psychomotor observations while students read texts independently. The findings reveal variations in intensive reading skills among students, particularly in understanding text content, organizing ideas, diction accuracy, sentence structure, spelling, and note-taking ability. Most students could grasp the main idea and identify the plot well; however, challenges remained in using appropriate diction, maintaining consistent sentence structure, and achieving accuracy in spelling and note-taking. These results highlight the need for more effective teaching strategies to improve students’ intensive reading skills. This study is expected to contribute positively to the development of Indonesian language learning methods at the elementary level, better preparing students to face increasingly complex academic challenges.
