Dairy goat farming holds significant economic potential as a rural enterprise alternative, driven by increasing market demand for goat milk, which is known for being low-allergen and highly nutritious. This article presents a case study on Okane Mochi Farm, a dairy goat farming unit located in Ngaglik Village, Gebang District, Purworejo Regency. This study aims to analyze the breeding management strategies, product innovation, and economic impacts generated by the farm. The method used is field observation and descriptive study of the farm's operations. Observations indicate that the success of Okane Mochi Farm is driven by three main factors: (1) Innovation in selecting superior breeds such as Anglo Nubian and Sapera for high milk productivity; (2) Implementation of strict housing management and hygiene standards to maintain milk quality; and (3) Product diversification through flavored pasteurized milk processing and the utilization of livestock waste into organic fertilizer (zero waste). The study concludes that the upstream-downstream integration model applied by Okane Mochi Farm can serve as a reference for sustainable rural economic empowerment models.

This community service program aims to utilize Balinese orange peel waste into marketable jelly candy in Battu Winangun Village, Lubuk Raja District, Ogan Komering Ulu Regency. The implementation method included socialization, 2-day practical training, and production mentoring involving 30 participants from women's farmer groups, PKK mothers, and youth youth organizations. The results of the activity showed an increase in participants' knowledge from 15% to 92% about the economic potential of Balinese orange peel waste, with 85% of participants successfully producing good-quality jelly candy that met the criteria of chewy texture, balanced sweet-sour taste, and attractive bright color. This program successfully processed orange peel waste rich in natural pectin (18-25%) into a functional low-calorie product with a shelf life of 2-4 weeks. The program's impacts included the formation of independent business groups, a 25-30% reduction in organic waste, and increased public awareness of a sustainable circular economy. The final evaluation showed a 90% level of participant satisfaction, with 87% of participants interested in continuing independent production. In conclusion, this program effectively increases the added value of local agricultural products, empowers the community's economy, and creates social transformation toward a self-sufficient and environmentally conscious village.

This study aims to identify and minimize waste in the process of procuring Food & Beverage raw materials at Hotel PXY Jasa Bali using the Lean Inventory Management approach. Observations over one month showed that the total procurement cost reached 47% of the total revenue, exceeding the ideal limit of 35%. One of the main causes is the inefficient and lack of synchronization between divisions in the Rhapsody platform, which causes waste in the form of defects, delays, over-processing, and transportation. This study uses the Value Stream Mapping (VSM) method to map actual conditions and Process Activity Mapping (PAM) to identify the type of activity based on the waste category. In addition, root cause analysis is carried out using the Root Cause Analysis (RCA) approach. The mapping results showed that out of the total lead time of 598.44 minutes, only 278.49 minutes or 46.54% were value-added activities. This finding indicates that the procurement process is not yet efficient and needs optimization. Several recommendations were given to minimize waste, such as clearer division of tasks, improved communication with vendors, and the procurement of supporting facilities to reduce physical movement between divisions. The implementation of this lean service is expected to be able to increase the efficiency of the logistics process and reduce the company's overall operational costs.

The main problem in Longko Village is the low utilization of coconut husk waste due to limited community knowledge and processing skills, resulting in the waste being discarded or burned without economic value. This Community Service Program aimed to empower the community through innovative processing of coconut husk into environmentally friendly and marketable broom products. The program employed a participatory approach consisting of observation, socialization, technical training, mentoring, and evaluation, involving six participants from farming households and housewives. Evaluation was conducted by assessing participants’ skills and the quality of the products produced. The results showed a significant improvement in participants’ technical competencies, as indicated by an increase in knowledge from 30% to 90% and practical skills from 25% to 80%. Most participants were able to independently produce at least one coconut husk broom with acceptable functional quality. Furthermore, the program enhanced participants’ understanding of the economic potential of coconut husk and created opportunities for sustainable household-based enterprises utilizing local resources.

Used cooking oil is a household waste that is often disposed of carelessly, potentially polluting the environment and endangering health. In Battu Winagun Village, the availability of used cooking oil from household activities and the abundant potential of lemongrass plants have not been optimally utilized. This community service activity aims to increase the community's knowledge and skills in processing used cooking oil and lemongrass plants into environmentally friendly products with economic value, namely natural aromatherapy candles. The implementation method includes socialization of the negative impacts of used cooking oil on the environment, training in the process of filtering and processing used cooking oil, extracting lemongrass aroma, and assistance in making and packaging aromatherapy candles. The results of the activity showed that the Battu Winagun Village community was able to understand the importance of managing used cooking oil waste and utilizing lemongrass plants as a natural additive. This activity has an impact on reducing environmental pollution and opening up creative business opportunities based on the village's local potential. Thus, the use of used cooking oil and lemongrass plants can be a sustainable solution in waste management while improving the economy of the Battu Winagun Village community.

Organic waste is one of the major environmental problems caused by household activities. Improper waste management leads to environmental pollution and health risks. This community service activity aimed to educate and train the community in processing organic waste into ecoenzymes as a multifunctional and environmentally friendly product. The method used included socialization, training, and direct assistance to the community in producing ecoenzymes from fruit and vegetable waste through fermentation. The results showed that the community was able to understand the benefits and production process of ecoenzymes and began implementing them in daily life and agriculture. Ecoenzymes can be used as natural cleaning agents, plant fertilizers, and pest repellents. This activity contributes to reducing organic waste and improving environmental awareness and sustainable agriculture practices.

Banana blossoms are often considered waste and rarely utilized by the community, even though this material is easily obtained, has nutritional value, and has the potential to be processed into economically valuable food products. This community service activity was carried out in Melati II Village, Pasar 6, Pala Hamlet, Perbaungan District, with the aim of providing assistance to the community in processing banana blossoms into chips as an alternative snack. The implementation method included a brief counseling on the potential and benefits of banana blossoms, training in processing techniques, hands-on practice in making chips, and a simple evaluation of the quality of the resulting product. The results of the activity showed that the community was able to process banana blossoms into chips with a crispy texture, acceptable taste, and an attractive appearance. In addition to improving community skills and creativity, this activity also helped reduce organic waste and opened up sustainable household-scale business opportunities for the local community.

The increasing consumption of plastic, particularly single-use packaging, has led to a significant rise in household plastic waste, which poses a potential threat to environmental sustainability. One type of waste that remains underutilized is metallic plastic packaging. This Community Service activity aimed to enhance community knowledge and skills in processing metallic plastic packaging waste into handicraft products with functional value and economic potential. The activity was conducted in collaboration with the Family Welfare and Empowerment Group (PKK) of Ngringo Village, Karanganyar, involving 15 participants. The methods employed included a preliminary survey, educational outreach, hands-on practical training, and continuous mentoring. The effectiveness of the program was evaluated using pre-test and post-test assessments analyzed through the normalized gain (N-gain) method. The results demonstrated an improvement in participants’ knowledge and skills following the training, with an average N-gain value of 0.68, which falls within the moderate-to-high category. These findings indicate that the metallic plastic packaging waste processing training was effective in enhancing community capacity. Furthermore, the activity not only contributed to reducing plastic waste generation but also promoted the implementation of circular economy principles.

Appropriate Technology Training (TTG) in Tambah Dadi Village, Purbolinggo Subdistrict aims to improve the community's understanding and ability to manage livestock waste more efficiently.  Often, livestock waste produced in this village is not utilized properly.  Training participants will be introduced to various waste management methods that can be used as sources of organic fertilizer and organic compost. The training includes awareness-raising, demonstrations, and hands-on practice in processing waste into useful products such as organic fertilizer. The results of the training show that participants are able to make organic fertilizer from livestock waste.  It is hoped that this activity will serve as an example for other villages to manage livestock waste in a more sustainable manner, which will improve agricultural and livestock yields in the area and increase the welfare of farmers in Tambah Dadi Village. The results of this activity show that the application of appropriate technology not only focuses on waste management, but also aims to improve the economic conditions of the community.

Current human activities are the cause of the accumulation of waste. Waste generated from community activities can come from households, agriculture, offices, industry, and so on. Based on previous research, waste that is not properly handled will cause environmental damage, produce odors, and risk the spread of diseases that are agents or sources of infection that cause stunting in children. The purpose of this community service is to provide education on waste management to prevent cases of stunting in children. The methods used in the educational activities are lectures and question and answer sessions. Composting training is conducted using a practical method. Educational media used leaflets and composting practice materials using household waste leftovers from the community service targets. The target community service was 20 housewives in the Caturharjo area. The results obtained are that the education and practice were implemented well and smoothly. The community provided a positive response to the material provided in the form of questions and answers after the educational material. There was a change in composting skills among the community members. The conclusion of this community service activity was an increase in knowledge and skills in processing household waste into composter.

Domestic wastewater management in densely populated areas remains challenging because conventional concrete/steel septic tanks can crack or corrode, increasing leakage risk and potentially degrading groundwater quality. This study aims to compare conventional septic tanks with Fiberglass Reinforced Plastic (FRP) septic tanks and to develop an FRP septic tank concept that improves durability, installation practicality, and treatment performance for residential use. A qualitative comparative approach was applied through purposive selection of households/public facilities, in-depth interviews (users, technicians, manufacturers), direct observations of tank conditions and maintenance, and documentation; findings were reduced, categorized (material, efficiency, cost, environmental impact), and thematically interpreted. The study produced an FRP septic tank design concept developed using an Objective Tree, Function Structure, and Morphology Chart, resulting in planning criteria and conceptual drawings. The FRP concept emphasizes lightweight strength, corrosion/chemical resistance, and shape stability under soil loads, while incorporating multi-partition internal processing and media (bioballs) to support staged treatment using gravity flow. The proposed design can reduce leakage risk, simplify installation and maintenance, extend service life, and support more sustainable domestic waste management in space-limited urban neighborhoods. The novelty lies in a residential FRP septic tank concept that integrates three partitions, bioballs, and gravity-based flow without relying on pumps/motors, supported by a structured product-engineering design framework.

The waste problem in Karanglewas Village, Kutasari District, Purbalingga Regency, continues to increase alongside agricultural, trade, and MSME activities, while the management system remains conventional, without sorting, resulting in environmental pollution and limited landfill capacity. This community service program aims to implement the Integrated Independent Waste Sorting and Processing Tool (PLASMA-T) as an innovative solution that processes organic waste into compost and melts plastic waste into paving blocks that are useful and economical. The activities are carried out in stages, including problem identification, socialization, technical training, operational trials, evaluation of results, and the handover of the equipment to the Mitra Sejahtera TPS, with ongoing assistance so that the community can operate the equipment independently. The expected outcomes include a reduction in waste volume at the TPS, increased community awareness and skills in waste management, and the creation of new business opportunities through compost and paving block products. Thus, this program not only addresses environmental issues but also strengthens the village's circular economy and has the potential to serve as a model for other regions.

Plastic waste is a form of solid waste originating from synthetic polymer materials that are difficult to decompose naturally and pose serious threats to environmental sustainability. Its accumulation continues to increase, causing pollution of soil, water, and ecosystems. In general, public attention is often limited to waste disposal and management activities without addressing preventive measures or innovative solutions at the source of the problem. This study aims to increase public awareness of plastic waste processing as an alternative approach to reducing the growing volume of plastic waste generated daily. One promising method explored in this research is the utilization of plastic waste as a raw material for producing environmentally friendly construction bricks. The study applied a simple descriptive experimental approach through direct practical activities, including the collection of plastic waste, processing and melting procedures, molding processes, and drying stages. The results demonstrate that plastic waste can be transformed into bricks with adequate physical strength and mechanical properties that comply with basic building standards. Therefore, this method has the potential to support sustainable waste management while providing alternative construction materials.

The digitalization of the creative economy has opened up significant opportunities for the community to create innovative products that have high sales value and are environmentally friendly. One interesting innovation is the use of used cooking oil as a raw material for making aromatherapy candles. Used cooking oil, which is usually discarded and pollutes the environment, can be reprocessed into products with economic value, thus supporting the principles of a circular economy. This study aims to examine the potential of processing used cooking oil into aromatherapy candles, analyze digital-based marketing strategies to increase product competitiveness in the market, and examine the meaning of transforming waste into innovative products from the perspective of Immanuel Kant's philosophy of reality. The research methods used were literature studies and field observations of used cooking oil processing practices by the community. The results show that used cooking oil-based aromatherapy candles have good business prospects, especially when combined with digital promotion through social media and marketplaces. Digitalization helps expand marketing reach, create brand identity, and attract consumers who care about environmental sustainability. From the perspective of Immanuel Kant's philosophy of reality, the transformation of used cooking oil into aromatherapy candles can be understood as a phenomenon, namely a reality that is visible in the practice of the digital creative economy. Meanwhile, the values ​​of sustainability, ethical awareness, and social meaning contained therein reflect noumena, namely the deepest reality that is not directly visible but provides direction and meaning for human actions.

This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of waste management in preventing fires at the Alak Landfill (TPA) in Kupang City using a qualitative case study approach. Data was collected through interviews, observations, and documentation involving officials from the Environmental and Sanitation Office, landfill workers, waste pickers, and surrounding communities. The findings indicate that the effectiveness of waste management remains low. In terms of input, financial resources, infrastructure, and human resources are insufficient to support optimal operations. During the process stage, waste collection and transportation are hindered by low public compliance, limited vehicles, and minimal waste segregation. Final waste processing still relies on the open dumping method, which increases waste accumulation, methane generation, and fire risks. In terms of output, various mitigation efforts have not successfully reduced the recurring fire incidents due to limited facilities, inadequate compaction, and the absence of gas monitoring systems. The results highlight the need for increased budget allocation, improved facilities, enhanced human resource capacity, and the implementation of safer and more sustainable waste management methods to reduce fire risks at the Alak Landfill.

This study aims to analyze the process of processing fruit peel waste from juice traders into eco-enzymes as an effort to reduce environmental pollution. The research uses qualitative descriptive methods through direct observation, documentation, and literature studies. Fruit peel waste is fermented at a ratio of 1:3:10 (molasses : fruit waste : water) for three months under anaerobic conditions. The fermentation results show good eco-enzyme characteristics, characterized by a pH of 3, a fresh sour aroma, and a brownish color as an indicator of fermentation success. These findings show that the process of processing eco-enzymes from fruit peel waste can be done simply, cheaply, and environmentally friendly. In addition, the use of eco-enzymes has the potential to reduce the volume of organic waste disposed of in landfills and reduce water and soil pollution. The resulting eco-enzyme also has potential applications as natural cleaners, liquid fertilizers, and odor controllers. Thus, the treatment of fruit peel waste not only supports sustainable environmental management practices, but also encourages the implementation of the circular economy as well as community empowerment ecologically and economically.

Processing plastic waste into fuel oil with pyrolysis technology. Research on plastic oil as an alternative fuel has been widely conducted. One of them is research on processing plastic bag waste into fuel oil with pyrolysis technology. In this study, a set of pyrolysis equipment was made by Lecturers and Students of UMNU Kebumen. The plastic waste used in this study was 1 kg of plastic bag. Meanwhile, the pyrolysis process used a temperature of 250oC-300oC. The fuel oil produced in the pyrolysis process of this study was approximately 400 ml. The average density of fuel oil from plastic bag waste was 0.733 gr/ml. The results of this density calculation are in the possibility of the density of gasoline, namely 0.710 gr/ml to 0.770 gr/ml. This pyrolysis process shows great potential for converting plastic waste into an environmentally friendly alternative energy source. Furthermore, the efficiency of this pyrolysis technology can be improved by adjusting the temperature and processing time, as well as by selecting a wider variety of plastic types. This technology has the potential to be applied more widely in plastic waste management within the community as a solution to reduce environmental pollution while generating renewable energy.

This community service program aims to empower the community of Ujung Tanah District, Makassar City in circular economy-based waste management. Ujung Tanah District as a coastal area with high population density faces complex waste problems, especially waste that ends up in the sea and disrupts the coastal ecosystem. The activities were conducted in four urban villages, namely Ujung Tanah, Tabaringan, Pattingalloang, and Pattingalloang Baru, involving 120 households as direct participants. The implementation methods included socialization and education, waste sorting and processing training, establishment of Waste Banks, mentoring for recycled product creation, and marketing system development. The results showed a significant improvement in community knowledge about waste management, with average scores increasing from 45.2 to 82.6. Four active Waste Bank units were established with a total of 320 household customers. The managed waste volume reached 2.4 tons per month with an economic value of IDR 8,500,000 per month. Recycled products include ecobrick crafts, bags from plastic packaging, and compost fertilizer. This program successfully changed the community paradigm from dumping waste into the sea to managing waste as a source of income.

Cooking oil is a staple food widely used in daily cooking. However, repeated use of cooking oil, resulting in its conversion into used cooking oil, can have negative impacts on both health and the environment. Used cooking oil that has changed color and quality is carcinogenic and has the potential to increase the risk of cardiovascular disease if consumed again. Furthermore, improper disposal of used cooking oil can cause environmental pollution because it is difficult to decompose. This study aims to examine the wise management of household waste, especially used cooking oil, by utilizing it into products with utility value. One form of utilization is processing used cooking oil into environmentally friendly soap for laundry purposes. This activity was carried out as a form of community service through training in making soap from used cooking oil with the addition of essential oils for aromatherapy for residents of Pasar Rawa Village, Gebang District, Langkat Regency. The research method used was qualitative, with observation and direct participation in the training activities. The results showed that participants, particularly housewives, demonstrated high enthusiasm and were actively involved in both the presentation and the soap-making practices. This activity not only raised public awareness of the importance of managing used cooking oil waste but also provided new skills that have the potential to support family economic growth.

This study aims to analyze the production process, marketing strategies, and environmental impacts of sugarcane brown sugar agroindustry at the household scale, using the Haeruddin enterprise located in Latellang Village, Patimpeng District, Bone Regency as a case study. A descriptive qualitative approach was employed, with data collected through in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and document analysis. The results show that the enterprise manages approximately 50 hectares of sugarcane land with productivity ranging from 30–60 tons per hectare, which is below the national average. The production capacity reaches 1–2 tons of sugarcane per day, producing approximately 1 ton of brown sugar daily, and involves local labor in cultivation and processing activities. Marketing is conducted through direct sales and local distributors, with prices ranging from IDR 8,000–10,000 per kilogram, without the use of digital promotion or modern retail channels. From an environmental perspective, the production process generates solid, liquid, and gaseous waste; however, solid waste in the form of bagasse is reused as fuel, while liquid waste and combustion residues are only partially managed. These findings indicate that while the enterprise contributes to employment and the local rural economy, improvements in production efficiency, marketing strategies, and environmental management are required to enhance competitiveness and sustainability. This study provides practical insights for the development of sustainable household-scale sugarcane brown sugar agroindustries in rural areas.
