This article discusses the tradition of sea alms in Cilacap Regency and how this tradition is acculturated with Islamic teachings. Sedekah laut is a traditional ceremony performed by coastal communities as a form of gratitude for sustenance from the sea. This tradition originally contained elements that were considered deviant from Islamic teachings, such as offerings to the sea spirit Kanjeng Ratu Kidul. However, through acculturation, these elements have been adapted to Islamic values, so that they now involve prayers and alms to Allah SWT. The sea alms tradition also plays a role in strengthening the spirit of mutual cooperation and awareness of cultural preservation among coastal communities. This research uses a descriptive qualitative method with a literature study to examine the relationship between customary law and Islamic law in this tradition. The results show that customary law and Islamic law can interact harmoniously without dominating each other, each having a role in preserving local traditions that enrich Indonesia's cultural heritage.

This study explores the intersection of Islamic education and democratic principles, focusing on their historical context and core tenets. Historically, Islamic education has emphasized knowledge, ethics, and community welfare, aligning with many democratic ideals such as equality and civic engagement. This research examines the compatibility between Islamic values and democratic principles, arguing that both systems advocate for justice, participation, and the common good. However, integrating these frameworks presents challenges, including criticisms regarding potential conflicts between religious doctrines and democratic freedoms. Despite these challenges, the benefits of harmonizing Islamic education with democracy are significant. Such integration can foster a more inclusive, ethically grounded civic society, enhancing mutual respect and cooperation. This study aims to contribute to the ongoing discourse on how educational practices rooted in Islamic teachings can enrich democratic processes, ultimately promoting a balanced approach to faith and civic responsibility.

Collaborative learning strategies are approaches that emphasize pressure, cooperation and active involvement between students in a learning community. In Islamic Religious Education learning, implementing this strategy allows students to support each other, share knowledge, and solve problems together, in accordance with the values of mutual assistance contained in Islamic teachings. On the other hand, competitive learning methods place more emphasis on individual efforts to achieve goals, which may not maximize social interaction and collaboration between students. Therefore, the use of collaborative strategies in PAI learning is thought to be more effective in increasing understanding of the material and building students’ cooperation skills and tolerance for other people’s opinions.
