Student engagement plays a pivotal role in determining the effectiveness of Islamic Religious Education (IRE), particularly in moral education that seeks to internalize ethical values and shape students’ character. However, empirical evidence from elementary school contexts indicates that low levels of engagement often hinder meaningful learning outcomes. This study examines the issue of limited student engagement in IRE learning on Morality in Daily Social Interaction and its implications for students’ conceptual understanding. Employing a descriptive qualitative approach, data were collected through classroom observations, semi-structured interviews, and document analysis at SDN 38 Bonto Perak, Pangkep Regency. The findings reveal that low student engagement is primarily associated with teacher-centered instructional practices, limited use of learning media, and insufficient variation in instructional stimuli, resulting in superficial understanding of moral concepts. To address these challenges, this study proposes two integrated instructional strategies. The first is a constructivist approach through the implementation of the Jigsaw Cooperative Learning model, which facilitates active participation, peer interaction, and collaborative knowledge construction. The second is a behaviorist approach through the application of positive reinforcement and varied instructional stimuli, including verbal praise, simple rewards, visual media, and context-based narratives relevant to students’ daily experiences. These strategies are expected to enhance students’ cognitive, affective, and behavioral engagement, thereby strengthening conceptual understanding and supporting the internalization of moral values in IRE learning. This study contributes to pedagogical discourse by offering a contextual instructional framework for improving student engagement in elementary-level moral education

Parenting communication literacy is a fundamental competence that influences children’s growth in cognitive, emotional, and social domains. Initial findings at Posyandu Teratai, South Tangerang, revealed that many mothers still relied on authoritarian and less dialogical communication, which limited children’s confidence and engagement. In response, the Community Service (PKM) team of Universitas Pamulang implemented a program entitled Optimizing Parenting Communication Literacy through Digital Media. The activities were designed using participatory strategies such as lectures, interactive group discussions, simulation exercises, and the dissemination of digital learning materials in the form of modules and videos. The program outcomes demonstrated considerable improvement in mothers’ knowledge and attitudes toward positive communication practices, including the ability to listen actively, provide encouragement, and employ digital platforms as continuous learning resources. Furthermore, the integration of digital tools enabled mothers to access and exchange information beyond formal training sessions. The broader impact of the program was the establishment of a collaborative learning community at Posyandu, which not only supported families in applying positive parenting approaches but also reinforced community-level awareness of effective communication in child-rearing.

Learning assessment is a crucial element in the educational process that aims to measure how well students understand the material taught. The tools chosen for measurement have a significant influence on the validity and accuracy of the assessment results. At MAN 2 Bantul, educators generally use two types of measurement tools, namely multiple-choice tests and essay tests. This study aims to assess the effectiveness of essay tests in comparison with multiple-choice tests in assessing student learning achievement at MAN 2 Bantul, using the direct interview method. This study was conducted to gain insight into the views of teachers and students regarding the effectiveness of both types of tests in the educational evaluation process. Data were collected through direct interviews with teachers and students who had experience in using both types of measurement tools. Data analysis was obtained using a descriptive qualitative approach to explore their views and experiences regarding the accuracy and appropriateness of tests in assessing learning outcomes. The findings from the interviews showed that multiple-choice tests were considered more effective and practical in measuring student learning outcomes because they used the JMD (Jogja Madrasah Digital) application, which immediately displayed the scores. However, the teachers also agreed that essay tests provided a more comprehensive analysis of learning outcomes because they encouraged students to think critically. This study recommends the implementation of a combination of both types of exams to make learning evaluation more efficient.
