According to BPS data, in 2024, the poverty rate in Siak Regency reached 5.08% of a total population of 487.67 thousand. Family poverty is a major challenge in Indone-sia’s social development. As the official institution managing zakat, BAZNAS plays a strategic role in alleviating poverty. However, the current zakat regulations do not ful-ly support a family-based approach to zakat distribution. This study aims to formu-late a legislative reconstruction model for BAZNAS based on the Maqasid Syariah, ensuring that zakat distribution is more equitable, effective, and has a systemic impact on the welfare of poor families. Employing a qualitative normative approach and Maqasid Syariah theory, the study finds that the restructuring of BAZNAS regula-tions should emphasize the dimensions of protection for religion (din), soul (nafs), intellect ('aql), lineage (nasl), and wealth (mal), with the family as the fundamental unit of society. Family poverty is not merely a matter of economic incapacity; it also encompasses the failure to meet basic needs related to education, health, and social protection. Religious institutions like BAZNAS possess a constitutional and reli-gious mandate to manage zakat professionally. However, the current management and legislation of zakat have not been holistically oriented towards the sustainable empowerment of poor families. Within the framework of Maqasid Syariah, zakat is not only an obligatory act of worship but also a socio-economic instrument designed to safeguard five essential components: religion, soul, intellect, lineage, and wealth. Therefore, it is imperative to reconstruct zakat regulations in a manner that is attuned to contemporary needs and capable of addressing the challenges of family-based poverty.

The church is not merely a place of worship; it is a community of believers who share a divine responsibility to help one another grow spiritually. In Indonesia, a nation rich in religious and cultural diversity, the church can serve as a strategic agent of both spiritual and social transformation. This paper explores the church’s holistic responsibility in fostering the spiritual growth of its members through intentional discipleship, character formation, biblical teaching, and mission-oriented leadership. Emphasis is placed on the importance of building a contextual and transformative discipleship model, especially in addressing current social challenges, particularly those related to the younger generation. A nurturing church will encourage its members to embody the values of Christ, becoming agents of change, sources of hope, and witnesses of God’s love among others. By fulfilling this calling, the church makes the Kingdom of God present in the world.

The development of contemporary church music, as part of the dynamic life of Christian worship, has sparked various responses—both as a relevant cultural expression and as a potential theological deviation. Music that adopts popular styles and emotionally expressive forms is often considered effective in engaging younger generations, yet it also raises concerns about shifting the focus of worship from God to human experience. This article aims to theologically examine the presence of contemporary church music in light of biblical principles of Christian worship. The method used is a descriptive qualitative literature study, drawing from theological works and research published within the last five years. The findings show that although contemporary music can serve as an effective means of fostering congregational spirituality, it must be theologically tested to ensure that musical expression does not obscure the Christ-centered essence of worship. Therefore, the church is called to integrate contemporary music into liturgy with discernment and theological responsibility.

Islamic education does not merely focus on the transfer of knowledge but also emphasizes the development of character, morality, and spiritual consciousness. Spiritual values are central in shaping learners who are not only intellectually capable but also faithful and pious. In this context, teachers serve not only as educators but also as spiritual mentors who instill values such as sincerity (ikhlas), trust in God (tawakkal), and divine awareness. This study aims to: 1) Explore the content and themes of the novel Imama Al-Hafidzh by Tri Lyagustina; and 2) Identify the Islamic spiritual values present in the novel and their relevance to contemporary life. This research employs a qualitative approach using library research methods, relying on both primary and secondary sources. Data analysis was conducted by collecting, comparing, and synthesizing information to produce a systematic and comprehensive study. The findings reveal that the novel tells the story of a young man who burns his own finger in a forest to resist temptation, symbolizing strong faith and self-control. The novel conveys messages such as steadfastness in principles, resisting worldly pleasures, not neglecting worship, and making the most of life to serve Allah. The spiritual values found in the novel include: faith, sincerity, patience, trust in God, gratitude, acceptance, repentance, Islamic brotherhood, asceticism, positive thinking, humility in worship, consistency, and love. These values, which are rooted in the Qur’an and Hadith, are highly relevant and can be integrated into Islamic religious education to strengthen students' character in the face of modern challenges.

Ahmad Rifa'i's thoughts which emphasize three main principles in Islamic education, namely the formation of strong faith, the development of noble morals (akhlaqul karimah), and the practice of Islamic law as a whole (kaffah). This concept not only emphasizes theoretical or cognitive aspects, but also focuses on the formation of real character and behavior in accordance with Islamic values in everyday life. The implementation of Islamic education in this teaching is carried out through various religious activities that are integrated with community life, such as regular religious studies in mosques, prayer rooms, or residents' homes, with the main material in the form of Javanese tarjumah books containing Islamic teachings in the form of nadham, including aqidah, worship, muamalah, and manners. In addition, the implementation of congregational worship such as the five daily prayers, dhuha prayers, and dhikr activities, are also effective educational media. This fact shows the harmony between teaching, habituation, and exemplary behavior, where Islamic values are not only taught, but are manifested in social interactions in society through joint religious activities, traditions of mutual assistance, concern for the environment, and efforts to maintain social harmony. Thus, Islamic education in the teachings of Tarjumah Jam’iyah Rifa’iyah has proven to be able to form a society that is religious, has character, and consistently practices Islamic teachings in everyday life. This study aims to examine the role of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) in the formation of students' character in the era of globalization which is full of value challenges due to technological developments and information flows. Globalization has had a significant impact on the morality of the younger generation, so that religious-based character education is becoming increasingly important. Using a qualitative research method based on literature studies, data were collected from various relevant scientific literature sources and analyzed thematically. The results of the study indicate that PAI plays a central role in instilling students' faith, morality, and social values through value-based learning, habituation of worship, and teacher role models. Islamic Religious Education (IRE) plays a strategic role in shaping students’ religious character, especially in a modern era filled with moral and spiritual challenges. IRE is not merely about delivering theoretical religious knowledge but is more focused on instilling Islamic values into students' daily lives. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of Islamic Religious Education in shaping the religious character of senior high school students in Tarakan City by exploring its contribution to developing students’ personalities rooted in faith, noble character, and social responsibility. This research employs a qualitative descriptive approach through literature review methods, with data collected from books, academic journals, and other relevant documents. The findings reveal that IRE plays a significant role in nurturing religious character, reflected in values such as honesty, discipline, tolerance, responsibility, worship obedience, and harmonious relationships between humans and God, fellow beings, and the environment. However, the effectiveness of IRE is influenced by both internal and external factors. Internal factors include student motivation and awareness, while external factors encompass teacher competence, curriculum design, family involvement, social environment, and the use of information technology. IRE teachers are expected not only to be knowledge transmitters but also to serve as moral and spiritual role models. A contextual and applicable curriculum is essential to address the needs of today’s learners. Furthermore, active student participation in extracurricular religious activities significantly contributes to the development of religious character. Cases of juvenile delinquency, deviant behaviors, and the lack of application of religious values outside classroom settings indicate the need for stronger and more comprehensive IRE practices. This study recommends strengthening the role of IRE teachers, developing responsive curricula aligned with contemporary needs, and enhancing collaboration between schools and families to optimize the formation of morally upright and religiously aware young generations.

The phenomenon of living Qur'an in the digital era, emphasizing the use of Al-Qur'an and prayer applications during the month of Ramadan during the COVID-19 pandemic. The pandemic situation has forced Muslims to switch to digital media as an alternative to carrying out worship due to limited access to physical places of worship. Using a qualitative approach and ethnographic methods, this study explores how digital applications of the Qur'an and prayers become a new medium in realizing Qur'anic values in everyday life, as well as how users interpret the sacred text through digital platforms. The results of the study show that digital applications not only support personal worship practices but also form online communities that strengthen spiritual bonds amid social restrictions. However, digitalization also raises challenges, such as shifts in religious authority, interpretation of texts, and issues of religious ethics. Therefore, this study emphasizes the importance of an interdisciplinary approach to understanding the transformation of religious practices in the digital era, as well as the need for a critical attitude in using technology so that Qur'anic values are maintained and authentic. The COVID-19 outbreak has caused significant changes in various aspects of life, including the way Muslims carry out worship during the month of Ramadan. The implementation of health protocols and social restrictions limit congregational worship activities in mosques, encouraging Muslims to find other ways to maintain their worship routines and spiritual closeness. In this condition, mobile-based Quran and prayer applications are an effective and appropriate solution. These applications provide easy access to digital Qurans, interpretations, translations, readings from famous reciters, daily dhikr, special prayers, and additional features such as prayer reminders and Qibla direction indicators. More than just a means of worship, these applications also function as a medium for religious learning through short lectures, studies, and Islamic articles. However, users need to be aware of interference such as notifications from other applications and dependence on internet connections. It is important to remember that the role of these applications is as a complement, not a substitute for direct interaction with the mushaf or attendance at the assembly of knowledge if conditions permit. If used wisely and consciously, Quran and prayer applications can be a very meaningful spiritual support for Muslims during Ramadan in the midst of a pandemic situation.

The thematic study of hadiths (maudhu'i) concerning nature and science is a significant approach to understanding Islam's contribution to environmental preservation and the development of modern scientific knowledge. This research aims to examine the hadiths of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ related to environmental conservation, natural phenomena, and their integration with contemporary scientific findings. The method used is qualitative research with a library research approach, where primary data were obtained from authentic hadith collections such as Sahih Bukhari and Sahih Muslim, and analyzed thematically. The results of the discussion indicate that the concept of environmental conservation in Islam is reflected in the principle of hima, as well as hadiths that encourage tree planting and the protection of living beings. Hadiths about natural phenomena such as the sea, rain, and wind contain both spiritual and educational messages that support ecological awareness. Furthermore, the integration of hadith with modern science, such as embryology, demonstrates that Islam supports scientific exploration as a form of worship and a means of understanding the greatness of Allah’s creation. In conclusion, thematic hadith studies not only enrich the understanding of the relationship between religion and science among Muslims but also provide an ethical foundation for building a faithful, knowledgeable, and environmentally responsible society that contributes to scientific advancement.

This article examines in depth the relationship between the outward form and the spiritual essence of the Church in the context of contemporary Christianity. The church is not only understood as a physical structure with buildings, organizational systems, and orderly worship, but also as a spiritual community that reflects the love of Christ, the presence of God, and a missiological calling in the world. An imbalance between external aspects and spiritual substance can lead to disorientation of church functions, both in the aspect of service and in the meaning of the faith of the people. Excessive focus on form can make the church spiritually dry, while neglect of order and form can lead to chaos in church life. Through a qualitative approach with a literature study method, this article examines the thoughts of several theological figures such as Miroslav Volf, who emphasizes the church as a reflection of the Trinitarian relationship; Lesslie Newbigin, who offers the perspective of the church as an institution, community of the word, and communion of the Spirit; and Stephen Suleeman, who highlights the role of the church as an agent of social and spiritual transformation in Indonesia. The research also considers contemporary challenges, such as the development of digital technology, shifting social values, and the declining interest of younger generations in formal religious institutions. Therefore, this article emphasizes the importance of maintaining a balance between the form and essence of the church in order to remain relevant, contextual, and faithful to the faith.

The development of information technology, particularly the internet and social media, has significantly impacted how the Church functions and interacts with its congregation. This transformation is not only technological but also touches upon fundamental theological aspects. This article aims to examine the changes in the meaning, function, and identity of the Church in the context of digitalization, with a focus on comparing the pre-internet and post-internet eras. Through a systematic theological approach, this analysis explores how the Church, as a community of faith and a spiritual organism, must re-understand its existence amidst the increasingly dominant presence of digital media in believers' lives. In the pre-internet era, church life revolved around physical gatherings, conventional liturgies, and direct spiritual authority. However, in the digital age, new forms of ministry have emerged, such as online worship services, virtual communities, and the dissemination of the Word through social media and other digital platforms. These changes offer opportunities to reach a broader audience but also pose serious challenges such as digital individualism, theological distortion, and a crisis of spiritual authority. This article concludes that the Church needs to develop adaptive ministry strategies while remaining faithful to the essence of Christian spirituality. By maintaining a balance between online and offline ministries and strengthening theological understanding amidst the rapid flow of information, the Church can remain relevant and effective in carrying out its mission.
