This study aims to examine the kinship between the Sabu, Sumba, and Rote languages, which are regional languages spoken in East Nusa Tenggara, Indonesia. Geographically, these three languages are spoken in different areas, originating from three distinct islands, with each having its own unique linguistic characteristics. Based on linguistic classification, the Rote and Sabu languages belong to the Ambon–Timor subgroup, while the Sumba language is classified under the Bima–Sumbawa subgroup. Despite these differences, there are noticeable signs of linguistic kinship, including cultural elements such as similarities in the clan naming system, which suggests a potential historical connection among these languages. To investigate this further, the research gathered data from native speakers of the three languages, who provided verbal samples that were transcribed phonetically. Lexicostatistics was then applied to analyze the vocabulary and determine the percentage of kinship between the languages. This method involves comparing common words in each language and quantifying the level of similarity. The findings of this study are expected to contribute to a clearer understanding of the linguistic relationships between Sabu, Sumba, and Rote. The results will offer insights into whether these languages share a common ancestral root or if their similarities are due to cultural exchange and contact over time. This research also aims to highlight the importance of preserving these regional languages, as understanding their kinship could play a role in the revitalization of linguistic heritage in East Nusa Tenggara. The study's results are anticipated to enrich the field of comparative linguistics, particularly in relation to the Austronesian language family, and provide valuable information for future studies on language development in Indonesia.

English language learning in vocational schools aims to provide students with language skills that can maximally support the competence of the specific field of expertise that students have. However, English teaching in many vocational schools, such as the Bali Medika Health Vocational School, is not designed as English for Specific Purposes (ESP), thus found to be insufficient to equip students to communicate using English in their target career. In addition, the teachers at this school revealed that it is difficult to find the kind of activities that can be organized to make learning English interesting and to choose material that is suitable to the needs of students as a future nurse assistant. Therefore, an innovative learning activity is needed to assist teachers in delivering teaching material that is suitable and relevant to the student’s target career. Learning through games such as word grouping and whispering was organized in the class to teach students the specialized nursing vocabulary. At the evaluation, students reported that learning nursing vocabulary through word-grouping and whispering activities was fun, and they could understand the material well. The learning activities helped them enrich their nursing vocabularies and they were very satisfied with the English learning in this program. Keywords: ESP, games, nursing vocabulary, word-grouping, whispering.

This study aims to improve Arabic vocabulary acquisition in lower grade students through a food knowledge-based approach at Srimuda Guidance Centre, Kuala Lumpur. Arabic as the language of the Qur'an is very important to learn from an early age, but its learning is often considered difficult by children due to non-contextualised methods. To overcome this, this research uses a qualitative approach with a case study type. Data were collected through participatory observation, semi-structured interviews, and documentation during the learning activities that took place in three sessions. Each session involved the introduction of food vocabulary in Arabic through activities such as matching pictures, drawing favourite foods, role-playing as sellers and buyers, to simple quizzes. The results showed that students were more enthusiastic and able to remember and mention at least five food vocabulary words in Arabic correctly. The use of real media and interactive activities is proven to make children understand and absorb new vocabulary faster because it is in accordance with their cognitive development stage. This study concludes that learning Arabic vocabulary with a food theme approach can be an effective, fun and contextualised method for early childhood. The implication of this study can be used as a reference in developing Arabic language teaching methods in non-formal and formal educational institutions at the early age level.

Corruption and the rule of law are two things that are not foreign in the order of national, state and social life. Corruption seems to be a vocabulary that is experiencing inflation because it is most often used in almost all news reports. However, in corruption cases, judges are often less observant in paying attention to the facts presented in the trial so that often defendants in corruption cases are not punished commensurate with their actions, some even end in acquittals. The research method used by the author is normative legal research, by reviewing or examining laws and court decisions related to the legal problems faced. The sources of legal materials used are primary legal materials, secondary legal materials, and tertiary legal materials which are then analyzed descriptively qualitatively. The results of this study indicate that The basis for the Supreme Court's consideration in rejecting the public prosecutor's cassation application regarding the acquittal in corruption (Case Study of Supreme Court Decision Number: 2205 K/Pid.Sus/2022) is by considering the legal and non-legal aspects. Regarding the effectiveness of the decision in providing a deterrent effect for perpetrators of corruption in the future, judges in considering a decision should pay close attention to the facts in the trial so that the defendant's actions can be subject to sanctions and in the future can provide a deterrent effect on perpetrators of corruption in the future. The judge's consideration in imposing a sentence after the examination process in court must pay maximum attention to the sense of justice of the actions that have been committed by the defendant so that the verdict can provide a deterrent effect for perpetrators of corruption in the future.
