The development of the digital era has triggered a significant transformation in consumer shopping patterns, which have now shifted from conventional retail to Quick Commerce (Q-Commerce). This article analyzes the phenomenon of changing consumer behavior driven by preferences for speed, practicality, and time efficiency, with the COVID-19 pandemic as the main catalyst. The study highlights that the success of Q-Commerce is highly dependent on Logistics Service Quality (LSQ), particularly in terms of timeliness, courier interaction quality, and order condition. Despite offering convenience that disrupts physical retail, this business model faces serious sustainability challenges, including high last-mile operational costs, difficulty achieving profitability leading to the closure of several market players, and intense competition from hybrid retail models. In addition, traffic safety issues and increased carbon emissions are highlighted as social and environmental impacts. The objective is to analyze the competitiveness of modern retail through the integration of SWOT analysis as a basis for formulating more targeted strategies using qualitative descriptive methods. This paper identifies the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats that drive the performance of modern retail based on literature and empirical findings from various previous studies. The results of the analysis show that the main strengths of modern retail lie in product completeness, competitive prices, strategic locations, and operational efficiency. Meanwhile, weaknesses arise from suboptimal digitization, minimal online promotion, limited service innovation, and outdated inventory management. Meanwhile, opportunities arise from changes in digital-based shopping behavior, while threats emerge from the dominance of large retailers, e-commerce competition, and economic fluctuations. Based on the SWOT integration, a strategy is formulated that includes strengthening digitalization, optimizing online marketing, improving service quality, and modernizing operational systems to support long-term competitiveness.

This study seeks to investigate a consumer behavior model by evaluating the impact of interactive technology-driven digital innovation and perceived value on digital engagement, with customer behavior serving as a mediating variable within the retail sector in Jambi Province. A quantitative research design utilized a survey method with 150 retail consumers as participants. We used Structural Equation Modeling–Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS) to look at both the measurement and structural models. The findings of the measurement model show that all indicators match the requirements for convergent validity. The outer loading values are all over 0.70, which means that the construct is reliable and valid. The evaluation of the structural model indicates that perceived value exerts a positive and significant influence on both consumer behavior and digital engagement. Also, how people act as consumers has a big effect on how they contact with and participate in digital media. This means that people who think retail services are more valuable are more likely to interact with and participate in digital media. Nevertheless, interactive technology-driven digital innovation does not exhibit a substantial direct impact on customer behavior or digital engagement. These findings suggest that value perception is more influential than technology innovation in determining consumer responses inside digital retail environments. This research enhances the body of knowledge regarding consumer behavior and digital marketing by highlighting the strategic significance of perceived value in augmenting consumer involvement within digital retail contexts.

This research extends the previous work of Tsaqila, Winiarti, and Widaningrum (2024), who applied the Complex Proportional Assessment (COPRAS) method within a decision support system for supermarket branch location selection. Unlike the prior study, which focused on Ponorogo through a web-based framework, this study expands the implementation of COPRAS to the Medan Area, Medan Kota, Medan Polonia, dan Medan Maimun districts, adapting it to local urban, social, and economic characteristics. The main objective is to identify the most strategic site for a new supermarket by analyzing multiple criteria, including land cost, population density, accessibility, safety, cleanliness, and disaster risk. Data were collected from both field surveys and official government publications. The findings reveal that the COPRAS method provides reliable and objective assessments among the evaluated alternatives, with Medan Area emerging as the most suitable location for supermarket development. Overall, this study broadens the practical scope of the COPRAS method in a different regional context and reinforces its reliability and adaptability as a multi-criteria decision-making tool in the modern retail industry.

The development of social media has significant transformations in the communication strategies of retail companies, particularly in building relationships with customers digitally. In the context of increasingly intense competition, social media no longer functions merely as a promotional channel, but also an interactive space to shape engagement, brand perception, and long-term relationships with customers. TIP TOP Supermarket, as one of the modern retail players in Indonesia, utilizes Instagram as its primary digital communication channel to reach audiences, convey brand values, and build customer engagement. The majority of TIP TOP Supermarket’s customers do not yet possess high levels of digital awareness, resulting in limited engagement with TIP TOP’s activations on Instagram. TIP TOP has not yet implemented a strategic approach in managing its Instagram. This condition constitutes a challenge in Instagram management. This study aims to analyze the stages of research and diagnosis, objective, strategies, tactics, implementation, and reporting-evaluation carried out by TIP TOP Supermarket in building customer engagement. The research employs a descriptive qualitative approach within a positivist paradigm. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with seven key informants from the Marketing and Communications Division, observations, and online documentation. The findings indicate that the management of TIP TOP Supermarket’s Instagram has gone through all stages of the ROSTIR, although several aspects have not yet been fulfilled. The conclusion emphasizes the importance of building a brand identity with consistent characteristics. This study recommends the establishment of a digital community on Instagram and the adoption of a responsive approach toward customers.

The rise of financial technology (fintech) has significantly reshaped global investment over the last decade. Fintech innovations are increasingly applied in areas such as digital investment platforms, robo-advisors, blockchain-based assets, and cryptocurrency trading. The adoption of fintech in investment continues to grow due to the rising demand for accessibility, transparency, and efficiency in financial markets. Fintech has the potential to democratize investment by lowering entry barriers, expanding financial inclusion, and offering diverse investment instruments for retail investors. Therefore, research on fintech and investment has become an essential topic in recent years. This study uses a qualitative approach with data obtained from the Scopus database, which includes a total of 4,794 articles on fintech and investment published in the last decade (2020–2025). In addition, several software tools such as R Studio, VOSViewer, and Publish or Perish were used for data processing and bibliometric visualization. This study aims to analyze the development of research trends in fintech-driven investment, explore how technology is changing investor behavior, and provide insights for policymakers and practitioners in strengthening a sustainable and inclusive investment ecosystem.

Laskar Buah is a modern retail chain specializing in the sale of fresh fruit. At present, the company operates one hundred branches across ten regencies. One of its outlets, Laskar Buah Ngumpakdalem, ranks among the top three branches in terms of transaction volume; however, it has received a considerable number of customer complaints regarding the quality of service provided. This situation has prompted management to conduct a thorough evaluation of the store’s service quality.This study was conducted with the aim of analyzing and evaluating service quality using the Importance–Performance Analysis (IPA) method based on the Retail Service Quality Scale (RSQS). The results of the IPA analysis were subsequently used as a foundation for determining priority areas for service improvement.The findings reveal that four service attributes fall within Quadrant B, indicating that they should be prioritized for immediate improvement. These attributes include the cleanliness of the shopping area, store layout, employee product knowledge, and product quality. Additionally, twelve attributes fall under Quadrant C, where performance should be maintained due to their already strong results. On the other hand, eleven attributes fall into Quadrant A, meaning they are considered lower  priority, while one attribute is located in Quadrant D, suggesting that Laskar Buah Ngumpakdalem is providing excessive performance in that particular aspect.

In the investment world, stock returns are the leading indicator of a company’s performance and the basis for investor decision-making in the capital market. Fluctuations in stock returns reflect market expectations of the company’s prospects. The retail sector in Indonesia is facing significant pressure from post-pandemic shifts in consumer behavior and increased competition. This study aims to analyze the effect of financial distress, company size, liquidity, operating cash flow, and accounting profit on stock returns in retail sub-sector companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) during the period 2021 to 2023. This type of research is causally associated with a quantitative approach. The data used is secondary, in the form of financial statements from retail companies. The sampling technique used was purposive, yielding a total of 39 data points from 13 retail companies. Data testing was carried out using SPSS version 24. The results showed that partially, the variables of financial distress, company size, liquidity, and accounting profit had no significant effect on stock returns. Meanwhile, operating cash flow positively impacts stock returns. These findings indicate that fundamental indicators are not always the main determinants of stock returns. Therefore, investors are advised also to consider external factors such as market sentiment, macroeconomic conditions, and government policies that may have a greater influence on stock performance in the capital market.

This study aims to analyze the production process, marketing strategies, and environmental impacts of sugarcane brown sugar agroindustry at the household scale, using the Haeruddin enterprise located in Latellang Village, Patimpeng District, Bone Regency as a case study. A descriptive qualitative approach was employed, with data collected through in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and document analysis. The results show that the enterprise manages approximately 50 hectares of sugarcane land with productivity ranging from 30–60 tons per hectare, which is below the national average. The production capacity reaches 1–2 tons of sugarcane per day, producing approximately 1 ton of brown sugar daily, and involves local labor in cultivation and processing activities. Marketing is conducted through direct sales and local distributors, with prices ranging from IDR 8,000–10,000 per kilogram, without the use of digital promotion or modern retail channels. From an environmental perspective, the production process generates solid, liquid, and gaseous waste; however, solid waste in the form of bagasse is reused as fuel, while liquid waste and combustion residues are only partially managed. These findings indicate that while the enterprise contributes to employment and the local rural economy, improvements in production efficiency, marketing strategies, and environmental management are required to enhance competitiveness and sustainability. This study provides practical insights for the development of sustainable household-scale sugarcane brown sugar agroindustries in rural areas.

The effectiveness of a retail store layout plays a crucial role in supporting operational efficiency, service flow, and customer experience. Brother Parfume, a perfume refill retail store, currently applies a bar-service layout designed based on intuition and daily operational needs rather than systematic planning. This often results in inefficient movement patterns, limited space utilization, and suboptimal coordination among functional areas. This study aims to redesign the store layout by applying the Entity Relationship Chart (ERC) and Total Closeness Rating (TCR) methods to identify functional relationships and determine the ideal spatial arrangement. Data were collected through direct observation and semi-structured interviews with the store owner to understand the interaction between service areas, product displays, and storage sections. The ERC analysis shows that the service area, perfume display, and bottle display have the highest functional interdependence, while the storage area has the lowest necessity for proximity. TCR results confirm these findings, with the service area and perfume display each scoring 90, bottle display 21, and storage 3. Based on these results, two alternative layouts are proposed that integrate high-priority areas into a unified service zone and position storage separately to minimize unnecessary movement. The redesigned layout is expected to enhance service speed, optimize space utilization, support operational procedures, and strengthen the store’s servicescape. This research contributes practical insights into the application of ERC and TCR methods for small-scale retail operations, particularly in the perfume refill sector, where service efficiency and spatial constraints are critical.

This research goals to investigate and prove the impact of Price, Product Quality, and Location on Purchasing Interest in choosing Complete Supermarket as a place to shop for baby and household supplies. Purchasing interest is a crucial element that determines the accomplishment of a retail business, and is impactd by various marketing elements. This study employs a descriptive quantitative approach with a study framework. The population in the research is consumers of Complete Self-Utility. Sampling was carried out using certain techniques (for example, Purposive Sampling or Simple Random Sampling) with a total of 100 respondents. Data were collected through questionnaire deployment and looked over using multiple linear regression analysis. The outcome of the research are expected to reveal that: (1) Price has a positive and substantial effect on Purchasing Interest; (2) Product Quality has a positive and substantial effect on Purchasing Interest; (3) The location has a positive and substantial effect on the Purchasing Interest; and (4) Price, Product Quality, and Location simultaneously have a substantial effect on purchasing Interest.

The rapid growth of modern retail competition requires companies to understand key drivers of consumer purchasing behavior, particularly impulse buying. This study examines the influence of price perception on impulse buying, with positive emotion as the mediating variable. Data were collected from 100 Circle K customers in Denpasar City using a purposive sampling method. Responses were collected through questionnaires and analyzed using Path Analysis and Sobel Test. The findings show that price perception has a positive and significant effect on impulse buying and positive emotion, and positive emotion has a positive and significant effect on impulse buying. Further, positive emotion is a significant mediator in the relationship between price perception and impulse buying. These findings support Cognitive Appraisal Theory, suggesting that favorable price perceptions of sales promotions can evoke positive emotional responses, which in turn encourage impulse buying behavior among Circle K customers in Denpasar City.

In the fast-moving fashion retail industry, supply chain efficiency is a key factor in operational success. Heybeb Factory Outlet, as one of the retail business actors, faces challenges in managing the flow of goods from upstream to downstream, particularly in balancing demand between offline (physical stores) and online (e-commerce/marketplace) channels. This proposal aims to design and analyze the logistics workflow starting from goods ordering (restocking) from the central warehouse, the goods receiving process, rigorous Quality Control (QC) procedures, storage in a dedicated transit warehouse, and the stock distribution mechanism (stock split) for the two sales channels. The main issues identified include the risk of overselling in one channel while stock accumulation occurs in another, as well as the potential for defective items to pass through due to an unstructured QC process. This study employs a descriptive qualitative approach by mapping out an ideal Standard Operating Procedure (SOP). The expected outcome is the development of an integrated inventory management system capable of minimizing return rates caused by defective items and maximizing inventory turnover through accurate stock allocation between online and offline divisions.

The retail industry is highly influenced by the level of consumer spending, which experienced significant changes during the Covid-19 pandemic. PT Midi Utama Indonesia Tbk, as one of the leading retail companies, has sought to maintain its performance through service improvement, technological innovation, and financial management. This study aims to analyze the financial performance of PT Midi Utama Indonesia Tbk for the period 2020–2024 using profitability ratios, including Net Profit Margin (NPM), Return on Assets (ROA), and Return on Equity (ROE). The results show that both NPM and ROA recorded positive trends until 2023, with NPM peaking at 3.01% and ROA at 6.71%, although both remain below industry standards. Meanwhile, ROE reached its highest level in 2022 at 20.21% before declining in subsequent years. The simultaneous decrease in all ratios in 2024 indicates pressure on net income due to rising costs and imbalances between revenue, assets, and equity growth. Overall, PT Midi Utama Indonesia Tbk demonstrated gradual profitability improvement up to 2023; however, cost control, asset optimization, and balanced capital management strategies are required to sustain future growth.

Development financing systems in various developing countries, including Indonesia, have been tested by repeated global crises, such as the 2008 financial crisis, the COVID-19 pandemic, and geopolitical tensions since 2020. The economy is highly dependent on external funding, such as foreign loans and foreign direct investment (FDI), making it vulnerable to disruptions and uncertainty in capital flows. This article examines the strategic role of domestic savings as a stabilizer in maintaining the resilience of development financing using a desk study approach. The literature review shows that mobilizing domestic savings through conventional and Islamic financial institutions is crucial for encouraging long-term investment, reducing dependence on external financing, and strengthening national fiscal independence. In the Islamic economy, the rise of yield-based savings instruments, productive waqf, and retail sukuk has helped expand a stable and equitable domestic funding base. Furthermore, this article finds that digital transformation, fiscal incentive policies, and financial literacy are key to increasing public participation in productive savings. Therefore, increasing domestic savings is an economic tool and a national defense strategy in facing ongoing global crises.

The purposes of this study analyze financial distress of non-food retail companies registered on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) between 2021 to 2024, as impacted by profitability, liquidity, leverage, and firm size. The sample criteria were as follows: (1) companies operating in the non-food retail sector and listed on the IDX during the specified period; (2) companies that consistently presented complete annual financial statements for each year; and (3) companies whose financial statements indicated that they reported a profit in the current year. Purposive sampling was employed to select the sample, resulting in 25 companies with a total of 100 observations. This research employed a quantitative approach using secondary data. The data were analyzed using multiple linear regression in SPSS version 25. The results of the partial test (t-test) revealed that profitability (ROA) and liquidity (CR) had a significant positive effect on financial distress. This suggests that higher profitability and liquidity increase the Altman Z-Score, thereby reducing the risk of a company experiencing financial distress. In contrast, leverage (DAR) and firm size (LN) were found to have no significant effect. These results emphasize the dominant role of internal factors, particularly profitability and liquidity, in shaping the financial condition of non-food retail companies in Indonesia.

Research aims to explore the influence of robo-advisor usage, trust in artificial intelligence (AI), financial literacy, and risk tolerance on investment behavior and its impact on the portfolio performance of retail investors in Indonesia. This study applies a quantitative approach, collecting data from 100 respondents who use investment applications such as Bibit, Ajaib, and Bareksa through the distribution of structured questionnaires with a 5-point Likert scale. Data analysis was carried out using the Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) technique. The results indicate that the four independent variables robo-advisor usage, trust in AI, financial literacy, and risk tolerance significantly affect investment behavior, which in turn has a positive effect on portfolio performance. High trust in AI combined with strong financial literacy fosters more disciplined and rational investment behavior. These findings highlight the importance of effective AI technology integration, improving financial literacy, and managing risk preferences to enhance investment decision-making quality and financial well-being. The study contributes to behavioral finance literature and offers practical implications for fintech developers and policymakers in emerging markets.

This study aims to analyze cryptocurrency investments and the risks faced by beginner investors who own digital assets such as Bitcoin, Solana, XRP, and other coins that have been increasing in value over the past few years, especially among the general public and retail investors. Not only retail investors, but governments also now hold digital assets, as has already happened. However, the unstable price and lack of global legal oversight make investing in cryptocurrency highly risky, especially for those with less knowledge and experience. The methods used in this study include literature review, descriptive analysis of historical price data for cryptocurrency, case studies, and interviews with several beginner investors. The findings show that cryptocurrency can generate large profits in a short time, but the risk of losing capital is also very high. Therefore, having a good understanding of blockchain technology, risk management, and investment psychology before starting to invest is important. This study is hoped to serve as a reference for beginner investors when considering decisions to invest in cryptocurrency.

The financial sector plays an important role in promoting Indonesia's economic recovery. This study was conducted to determine the effect of credit to priority sectors on economic growth on the island of Sumatera. The data analysis technique used is dynamic panel data regression analysis with the system-GMM approach. The results of this study indicate that credit for the agricultural, forestry, and fishery sectors; manufacturing sector; the accommodation and food and drink provision sector can increase economic growth on the island of Sumatera, while the construction sector credit; wholesale and retail trade sector; and the transportation and warehousing sectors have a negative influence on economic growth. This shows that the credit of the banking sector has a positive and negative influence on economic growth on the island of Sumatera. Therefore, banks and the government are expected to increase financial literacy to the community and improve internet facilities, especially in rural areas.
