This study examines the role of halal tourism in enhancing destination competitiveness and strengthening the Islamic economy within the tourism sector. This research employs a systematic literature review to synthesize findings from relevant academic sources. The results indicate that halal tourism contributes significantly to destination competitiveness by increasing tourist arrivals and encouraging product diversification. In addition, it supports the development of micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) and promotes local economic growth through a multiplier effect. Halal tourism also fosters ethical business practices and sustainable tourism development aligned with Islamic principles. However, its implementation faces key challenges, including limited infrastructure, complex halal certification procedures, and perceptions of exclusivity among non-Muslim tourists. Therefore, strategic efforts are required to improve Muslim-friendly infrastructure, streamline certification processes, strengthen MSME capacity through training and digitalization, and adopt inclusive branding strategies. These measures are expected to enhance the competitiveness, resilience, and sustainability of halal tourism destinations in the global market.

This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of Law Number 10 of 2009 on Tourism in relation to tourism actors in Indonesia. The enactment of this law is intended to provide legal certainty, protection, and development opportunities for business actors, tourists, and the community in supporting sustainable tourism development. The research employs a normative-empirical legal method with statutory and conceptual approaches. Data were collected through literature review and field observation to assess the extent to which the legal norms contained in the Tourism Law are implemented in practice. The findings reveal that the law has provided an important normative framework for the recognition of rights, capacity building, and protection of tourism actors. Sustainable tourism aims to maximize the potential of travel destinations while maintaining a careful balance between social, economic, and environmental factors, and coastal tourism such as that found at Mutun Beach in Lampung illustrates both the promise and the urgency of this approach. Coastal tourism is one of the fastest-growing segments of the global travel industry, offering visitors natural beauty, recreational activities, and cultural experiences that generate significant income for local economies. In Indonesia, beaches are major attractions that can boost regional development through job creation, small business opportunities, and improved infrastructure. Mutun Beach, a well-known coastal destination on the southern coast of Sumatra, contributes greatly to the Regional Original Income (PAD) of Lampung Province and provides livelihoods for surrounding communities. Yet despite its popularity, the area continues to face persistent problems such as weak administrative management, limited community participation, inadequate facilities, and signs of environmental degradation, all of which threaten its long-term sustainability. This service project therefore focuses on designing a comprehensive plan for sustainable tourism growth at Mutun Beach for the 2025–2030 period. A participatory strategy is employed through Focus Group Discussions (FGD) involving local government, tourism stakeholders, community members, academics, and potential investors to ensure inclusive decision-making. The resulting five-stage roadmap emphasizes strengthening tourism regulations, constructing eco-friendly infrastructure, empowering residents with training and entrepreneurial opportunities, creating tourism products that highlight environmental and cultural values, and adopting digital marketing to reach broader audiences. Success indicators include increased regional revenue, rising visitor numbers, higher tourist satisfaction, and measurable improvements in coastal environmental health. Implementing this roadmap is urgent because coastal tourism directly supports economic growth, provides steady employment, and safeguards natural resources, ensuring that Mutun Beach remains both competitive and environmentally resilient for generations to come.

This study examines the social, economic, and tourism impacts on the lives of the community in Penglipuran Tourism Village. The research highlights that the growth of tourism significantly increases local income by approximately 150–300%, fosters the creation of new business opportunities, and contributes to the preservation of Balinese culture and traditions. Tourism development not only strengthens the village’s cultural identity but also enhances social cohesion through community-based tourism initiatives. In addition, the adoption of digital technologies, such as cashless payment systems and electronic ticketing, has improved transaction efficiency, transparency, and market expansion, while also providing better services for visitors. Despite these benefits, several challenges have emerged, including growing environmental pressures, waste management issues, and the potential widening of economic inequality between residents directly involved in tourism and those who are not. These challenges indicate that tourism development can also create socio-economic gaps and place strains on the village’s natural resources if not managed carefully. Therefore, sustainable tourism management becomes crucial in balancing cultural preservation, economic equity, and environmental protection. This study suggests that policies integrating community participation, equitable economic distribution, and environmental sustainability are essential to ensure long-term positive impacts. Ultimately, Penglipuran Tourism Village can serve as a model for sustainable rural tourism development in Indonesia and beyond.

Young generations in the digital era face serious challenges in maintaining their Islamic identity due to the rapid flow of globalization, the penetration of popular culture, and the influence of social media, which often contradict Islamic values. This condition has led some adolescents and youth to experience moral degradation, a decline in interest toward religious studies, and a tendency to be more attracted to instant entertainment content. Conventional religious studies that are monotonous are often less appealing to Millennials and Gen Z, thus requiring innovative models of religious education that are relevant, engaging, and suitable for the characteristics of the digital generation. This Community Service Program (KKN) carried the theme “Strengthening Islamic Character of Young Generations through Interactive Multimedia-Based Studies at the Youth, Sports, and Tourism Office of Central Lampung Regency.” The main objective was to improve the understanding, internalization, and practice of Islamic values through creative, participatory, and enjoyable approaches. The program was implemented over one month with eight face-to-face sessions. The methods included interactive lectures, motivational video screenings, Islamic animation, group discussions, digital quizzes, and the establishment of an online discussion group via WhatsApp to maintain continuity of learning. Evaluation was carried out through field observation, pre-test and post-test, as well as in-depth interviews with participants and partners. The results showed an increase in religious understanding from an average of 58% to 82%, with active participation reaching 87%. Moreover, a youth community named Forum Pemuda Islami Lampung Tengah (FOPILTENG) was established, which is committed to continuing monthly studies independently. Technical obstacles such as limited multimedia facilities were successfully overcome by facilitators’ creativity, including utilizing simple devices and free digital platforms. Overall, the interactive multimedia-based approach proved to be effective in enhancing learning motivation, strengthening Islamic character, and fostering togetherness among youth. This model has the potential to be replicated in other regions as a strategic effort to nurture a religious, well-characterized, and competitive young generation in facing global challenges.

Tourism is a sector that contributes significantly to economic growth in Bangka Belitung. This article explores the level of visitor satisfaction as a key indicator in improving the competitiveness of the tourism sector in this region. This study applies a mixed approach, combining quantitative methods to gain in-depth insights into the factors that influence visitor satisfaction. Through a survey involving 100 respondents who visited various destinations in Bangka Belitung, the results show that service quality, natural beauty, and adequate facilities have a positive effect on tourist satisfaction. High satisfaction not only encourages tourists to return, but also increases word-of-mouth recommendations, which are very important in tourism marketing. In addition, with increased satisfaction, the competitiveness of tourism in this area is also raised, making it more attractive compared to other destinations. This study recommends that tourism managers focus on improving service quality, infrastructure development, and ongoing promotion to attract more tourists. Thus, tourist satisfaction is not only a goal, but also an important strategy in strengthening Bangka Belitung's position as a competitive tourist destination.
