In multilingual English as a Foreign Language (EFL) classrooms, students often draw on multiple linguistic resources to support comprehension and interaction during collaborative learning activities. However, translanguaging practices within structured cooperative learning techniques, such as the Jigsaw method, remain underexplored in Indonesian higher education contexts. This study investigates how students employ translanguaging during Jigsaw-based collaborative activities and how they perceive its role in supporting their participation and understanding in an Indonesian EFL classroom. The study adopted a qualitative classroom-based case study design conducted at a pesantren-based university in East Java, Indonesia. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews with five fifth-semester students who participated in Jigsaw learning activities across different English-related courses. The data were analyzed using thematic analysis to identify patterns in students’ language practices and perceptions. The findings reveal that translanguaging played several important roles in facilitating collaborative learning. First, students used translanguaging to clarify complex concepts and ensure shared understanding during group discussions. Second, translanguaging functioned as peer scaffolding, enabling students to assist classmates by explaining ideas and translating unfamiliar terms. Third, the flexible use of multiple languages helped reduce anxiety and encouraged more active participation in group interaction. Finally, students expressed positive perceptions toward translanguaging, viewing it as a helpful strategy that supported comprehension while still maintaining the importance of English for academic communication. These findings suggest that integrating translanguaging into cooperative learning strategies such as the Jigsaw technique can create more inclusive and interactive learning environments in multilingual EFL classrooms.

This study discusses the implementation of the Think Pair Share (TPS) strategy in Islamic Religious Education (PAI) learning in Grade VII of MTs Cerdas Murni, with a focus on its definition, steps, and advantages and disadvantages. This study uses a qualitative method with a phenomenological approach. The data used consist of primary data obtained through interviews and direct observation, as well as secondary data from books and journals. Data collection techniques include observation, interviews, and documentation, while data analysis is carried out through data reduction, data presentation, and verification. Data validity is tested using lingering techniques, triangulation, and negative cases. The results show that TPS is an effective cooperative learning strategy to increase student interaction and engagement. The steps in TPS include the stages of think, pair, and share. The advantage of this strategy is that it increases overall student participation, because each student is actively involved. However, the disadvantage is that it requires a relatively longer time to implement. Teachers have implemented TPS effectively, from greetings and prayers to build morals, to explaining prayer etiquette and dhikr, which enhance students' understanding, cooperation, and courage. TPS is suitable for material that requires in-depth understanding but needs to be adapted to the students' circumstances, such as using mixed methods for practical materials. Another advantage is increased student courage and critical thinking, despite challenges related to student readiness and facilities.

The era of globalization is an era of quality competition, where only thosebwith high competence will be able to compete in the free market. Therefore, developing high-quality human resources is something that cannot be compromised. Education that supports development in this era is education that can foster students’ potential’ enabling them toface and overcome life’s challenges. Thus, in the learning process, teachers should not only serve as models or sources of knowledge but also act as learning managers. As learning managers, teachers play an important role in creating a learning environment that allows students to learn confortably and effectively. Based on observations at SMA Negeri 2 Taniwel, it was found that students in class X-2 have low learning outcomes in sociology. The writer’s observation in class indicated that sociology learning was dominated by lecture methods, resulting in students being less active during the learning process. According to research conducted by Al Muchtar (1991), learning in social studies education does not sufficiently simulate students to be actively involved in the learning process. Furthermore, the teaching and learning process of social studies carried out bye teachers has not been able to faster a learning culture among students, wich in turn significantly affects their learning achievement and outcomes. To support active learning strategies, teachers can apply various relevant learning models. Therefore, the learning process will become more varied, innovative, and constructive, creating interaction between teachers and students, among students themselves, and between students and other learning resources.

This study aims to describe the application of the Jigsaw Learning method in Islamic Religious Education (PAI) learning at SMP 3 Sendana and to identify the advantages and obstacles encountered during the learning process. The research method used is descriptive qualitative, with data collection techniques through observation, interviews, and documentation. The results of the study indicate that the application of the Jigsaw Learning method can increase student activeness, strengthen group cooperation, and help understand the material more deeply and comprehensively. In this activity, students not only act as recipients of information from the teacher, but also as conveyors of material to their group mates. The process of sharing information between members encourages students to be more active in seeking out, understanding, and explaining the concepts being studied. In addition, this method also creates a collaborative and enjoyable learning atmosphere, due to the positive social interactions between students. This can increase a sense of responsibility and concern for the success of the group. However, in its implementation, several obstacles were found that require attention. Some of these include limited study time within the available lesson hours, inequality in contributions between group members which sometimes results in an uneven workload, and a lack of student readiness to understand the material independently before the group discussion process takes place. Despite the challenges, these obstacles can be minimized through effective classroom management, such as balanced group division, motivation, and intensive teacher support throughout the learning process. With the right strategy, Jigsaw Learning remains an effective and relevant method for Islamic Religious Education (PAI) learning, as it encourages the achievement of learning objectives in a participatory, active, and enjoyable manner. Therefore, this method is a worthy alternative to cooperative learning that can improve the quality of religious education at the junior high school level.
