This study examines youth slang (Jugendsprache) in the film Into the Beat (2020) through semantic and morphological approaches. The background of the research is based on the phenomenon of youth language development, which is dynamic, creative, and rich in socio-cultural meaning, yet often difficult for foreign speakers to understand. Youth language is chosen as the object of study because it reflects identity, group solidarity, and the communicative creativity of young people, and frequently appears in media, particularly films. The theoretical framework refers to experts’ perspectives on the characteristics of youth language, including the use of Anglicisms, abbreviations, metaphorization, and the formation of neologisms. The research method applied is descriptive qualitative, with data sources taken from the dialogues and subtitles of the film Into the Beat. The analysis is carried out based on Helmut Henne’s theory of youth language characteristics. The results reveal that youth slang in the film functions not only as a means of communication but also as a medium of emotional expression, lifestyle, and identity construction among German adolescents. Vocabulary such as alter, bro, krass, cool, and scheiße demonstrates creativity in morphological processes, including abbreviation, prefixation, and borrowing from foreign languages. The study concludes that youth slang plays an essential role in shaping characters, inter-character relationships, and the authenticity of the storyline. Furthermore, youth language reflects the evolving cultural and social dynamics of adolescents. This research is expected to contribute to linguistic studies, particularly semantics, and to serve as a valuable resource in German language learning by expanding vocabulary and fostering an understanding of authentic communication patterns among German teenagers.

The presence of colloquial expressions in public signage commonly referred to ba- hasa gaul has increasingly become a linguistic hallmark in various tourism and recreational ar- eas in Indonesia. This study investigates the use of informal language on public signage at Pantai Kelan, Bali, and analyzes such linguistic choices that reflect social dynamics, youth identity, and evolving modes of communication in public space. Grounded in sociolinguistic perspectives, the research highlights the role of signage as not only a medium of information, but also a space for constructing shared meaning and fostering engagement through culturally resonant expressions. This qualitative research employed observational and documentation methods. It focused on twelve public signs installed at Pantai Kelan. Data were collected through field observations, photographic documentation, and subsequent transcription and analysis of the linguistic forms. The analysis fo- cused on identifying dominant lexical patterns, stylistic choices, and communicative functions of the language used. The signs were then interpreted with reference to their potential cultural, social, and interactional implications within the broader framework of linguistic landscape studies. The findings indicate that the use of bahasa gaul in signage serves multiple purposes: capturing atten- tion, expressing local identity, evoking humor, and connecting with a predominantly young and digital-native audience. Rather than being perceived as informal or inappropriate, such language use contributes to the effectiveness of public communication in specific contexts. The study con- tributes to the growing body of literature on language in public space and emphasizes the impor- tance of cultural relevance and sociolinguistic awareness in designing public signage that is both meaningful and impactful

This study aims to identify the forms of implicature and language styles employed by netizens when commenting on the TikTok account @owner daviena skincare. Using a qualitative descriptive method with a pragmatic approach, this research explores the linguistic phenomena occurring in the comment section of selected posts. Data collection techniques include non-participant observation, attentive listening, note-taking, and documentation. The theoretical framework is based on the concept of implicature, which covers both conventional and non-conventional implicatures. The findings reveal that the comment section displays a variety of implicatures, with the dominant purposes being to offer advice, deliver criticism, and express support toward the content creator. Conventional implicatures appear when the meaning conveyed is closely tied to specific linguistic expressions, while non-conventional implicatures are identified in cases where the intended meaning relies on contextual interpretation. In terms of language style, the majority of comments utilize informal and conversational expressions, characterized by colloquial vocabulary, slang, and abbreviations that are common in online interactions. The analysis also highlights that the interplay between implicature and informal language style reflects the spontaneous and dynamic nature of digital communication on social media. Such interactions not only serve as a platform for engagement but also illustrate how language is adapted to suit the immediacy and brevity of online discourse. The study concludes that understanding implicature in social media contexts is essential for interpreting the underlying meanings beyond the literal content of user comments. Furthermore, the predominance of informal styles demonstrates the influence of digital culture on contemporary language use, particularly among netizens engaged in beauty and skincare communities.

Aspect-based sentiment Analysis (ABSA) is vital in capturing customer opinions on specific e-commerce products and service attributes. This study proposes a hybrid deep learning model integrating Bi-Directional Gated Recurrent Units (BiGRU) and Bi-Directional Attention Flow (BiDAF) to perform aspect-level sentiment classification. BiGRU captures sequential dependencies, while BiDAF enhances attention by focusing on sentiment-relevant segments. The model is trained on an Amazon review dataset with preprocessing steps, including emoji handling, slang normalization, and lemmatization. It achieves a peak training accuracy of 99.78% at epoch 138 with early stopping. The model delivers a strong performance on the Amazon test set across four key aspects: price, quality, service, and delivery, with F1 scores ranging from 0.90 to 0.92. The model was also evaluated on the SemEval 2014 ABSA dataset to assess generalizability. Results on the restaurant domain achieved an F1-score of 88.78% and 83.66% on the laptop domain, outperforming several state-of-the-art baselines. These findings confirm the effectiveness of the BiGRU-BiDAF architecture in modeling aspect-specific sentiment across diverse domains.

The waning enthusiasm for preserving the nation's wealth, one of which is regional languages, has become a serious problem that has occurred in recent years. However, only a few Indonesian people are aware of it. Regional languages, especially Serang Javanese, are on the verge of extinction. According to the data obtained, there are three million speakers of Serang Javanese, while the majority of Jaseng (Serang Javanese) speakers are in Cilegon, Serang and a small number in Tangerang, Banten Province. Unfortunately, Banten Javanese language users are starting to be eroded by the progress of the times, people are more in favor of slang communication, South Jakarta language, and the influence of other foreign languages. If the number of speakers decreases from before, it is possible that in the next few years the Jaseng language will experience extinction, which will result in the loss of the local wisdom of the people of Serang district. The good news is that the role of social media, which does not always have a negative impact on society, is actually one of the savior media in preventing the extinction of regional languages. One of them was proven by the owner of an influencer Instagram account from Serang who planned to create content that speaks the Serang Javanese language even though it is part of the code-mixing phenomenon. This research aims to reveal every content with the concept of the code-mixing phenomenon in Mang Aplen's Instagram account in detail, starting from the words, phrases and particles used in the communication. The method used in this research is a descriptive qualitative method which is carried out by analyzing data obtained from speech on Instagram content. The results obtained from this analysis are that there are several single words, phrases, affixes, word repetitions and particles of the Serang Javanese language, dialects and customary activities of the Serang Banten people in the context of entertainment, which are very popular with the community, which reflects the maintenance of the Serang Javanese language. and the local wisdom of the Serang Regency community, this is believed to be able to build community enthusiasm in maintaining the Jaseng language and the local wisdom of the Serang community so that it remains sustainable and strong.

This research aims to explore more deeply the phenomenon of slang use among UINSU Public Health students and its impact on social dynamics and the development of their identity. Through a qualitative approach involving in-depth interviews and participant observation, this research seeks to understand how slang plays a role in forming social bonds, creating a sense of belonging to a group, and influencing the way students interact with each other. Preliminary findings show that slang not only functions as a communication tool, but also as a symbol of identity and a means of expressing oneself. However, on the other hand, the use of slang that is too intense can blur the boundaries between formality and informality, thus potentially hampering the learning process and effective academic communication. Therefore, this research highlights the importance of balancing the use of slang with good and correct language rules, so that students can communicate effectively in various contexts without sacrificing their group identity.
