This research was conducted to assess the effectiveness of using the Problem Based Learning (PBL) approach in teaching poetry writing in Indonesian language classes. This method was applied to assess the extent of students' mastery of the material and their response to problem-based learning. Based on the results of the questionnaire distributed, it was found that materials such as procedural texts, expository texts, negotiation texts, poetry, drama, and novels are materials that often use the PBL model. The results show that around 75%–80% of students understand learning with the PBL approach and show active and enthusiastic responses during the learning process. However, the implementation of PBL faces a number of obstacles, including limited time allocation and the level of readiness of students in digesting complex problems. Thus, periodic assessment and adaptation of the learning approach are key to optimising the effectiveness of this method.

Learning Indonesian language and literature in elementary schools plays an important role in shaping students' character through the integration of literary works based on local culture. Lampung poetry as a representation of local wisdom contains educational values, such as religiosity, respect for parents, polite language, mutual cooperation, and environmental awareness. This study aims to describe the educational values and local wisdom in Lampung poetry and their relevance to the character formation of elementary school students. The research method used is a literature review by analyzing references in the form of scientific articles, textbooks, Lampung poetry texts, and previous research results related to character education, regional literature, and local wisdom-based learning. The results of the study indicate that Lampung poetry is effective as a literary learning medium to instill character values, especially those in line with the dimensions of the Pancasila Student Profile, namely faith and piety, mutual cooperation, creativity, and global diversity. Practical implementation can be done through literary appreciation activities, reflective discussions on cultural values, and assignments to write poetry based on students' local experiences. The conclusion of this study confirms that systematically integrating Lampung poetry into Indonesian language learning has significant potential to strengthen students' character education while preserving local culture amidst the challenges of globalization.

This study aims to explain the level of student interest and various aspects that influence their interest in reading poetry among students of the Department of Indonesian Language and Literature Education, Lambung Mangkurat University (ULM) class of 2024. The research focuses on how students interpret poetry, factors that encourage and inhibit reading interest, and the role of the academic environment in shaping literary appreciation, especially poetry. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach through interviews and documentation to gain an in-depth understanding of students' experiences, views, and habits in reading poetry. The results show that students' interest in poetry is in the moderate category. Some students consider poetry to be beautiful and meaningful works, thus helping them to reflect on themselves and increase their interest in reading. However, others find it difficult to understand the implied meaning in poetry and consider poetry a complicated and less interesting genre. Factors that encourage interest in reading poetry include the active role of lecturers in presenting interesting poetry material, campus literary activities such as poetry readings and competitions, and the existence of student communities that focus on writing and literary appreciation. Meanwhile, obstacles found include limited literacy facilities such as reading rooms and poetry book collections, low student personal motivation, and the dominance of digital media which is more practical and entertaining than printed literary works. This research emphasizes the importance of creative learning strategies and support for campus activities to revitalize the culture of reading poetry so that literary appreciation can develop more optimally.

This study uses the Classroom Action Research (CAR) method which is carried out in two cycles, including the planning, implementation, observation, and reflection stages. The results show an increase in the average value of poetry writing skills from 61 in the pre-cycle (poor category), to 83 in the first cycle (good category), and increasing again to 90.3 in the second cycle (very good category). Poetry, as a form of literary work, contains intrinsic elements that are interrelated and shape its meaning. In the poems Hujan Bulan Juni and Tentang Matahari by Sapardi Djoko Damono (1994; 1996), intrinsic elements such as physical and spiritual aspects play a significant role in conveying the message and meaning. Using the theories of Ivor Armstrong Richards (1947) and J.A. Richards (1929), this study examines elements such as line, stanza, rhyme, rhythm, figures of speech, and typography (physical elements), as well as theme, message, tone, and feeling (spiritual elements). This study aims to provide a deeper understanding of the role of these intrinsic elements in shaping the overall meaning of the poem. The research method used is descriptive analysis of the two poems. The findings suggest that these elements work together in delivering deep meaning through the structure and language used by the poet. Readers are encouraged to consider the relationship between form and meaning in understanding the message of the poems.
