This research delves into the intricate realm of maritime education, focusing on the academic and professional preparedness of Semester 3 cadets at the Maritime Institute Jakarta (STIP Jakarta). Anchored in a qualitative descriptive approach, the study synthesizes document analysis and cadet surveys to unravel the multifaceted dynamics shaping the educational landscape. The document analysis reveals a curriculum at STIP Jakarta that aligns commendably with international standards, supported by comprehensive lecturer training programmes. However, the nuanced cadet perspectives spotlight a need for refined emphasis on the practical application of English proficiency in real-world maritime scenarios. Cadet self-assessment underscores both confidence in academic intelligence and an identified need for additional language support, calling for targeted interventions. Exploring professional competences uncovers a disparity between technical proficiency and English Maritime communication, highlighting the importance of a holistic approach to bridge this gap. Cadet motivations vary from a genuine passion for maritime activities to the allure of lucrative career prospects and international recognition. Recognizing this diversity urges the need for personalised career guidance and mentorship programmes. The research also sheds light on English Maritime and Literacy proficiency, differentiating between basic skills and the ability to handle complex communication scenarios. Recommendations include integrating advanced language modules and tailored language support initiatives within the curriculum, ensuring a seamless development of linguistic skills alongside technical competences. In conclusion, this research offers a comprehensive understanding of maritime education at STIP Jakarta, unveiling challenges and opportunities that resonate globally. The synthesis of findings and recommendations forms a compass for refining pedagogical approaches, fostering linguistic and technical adeptness in future maritime professionals. This voyage towards enhancement is not merely a localized pursuit but a contribution to the broader discourse on cultivating global competence in maritime education.

The research method used in this study is descriptive qualitative method. Data collection techniques used observation, interview and documentation techniques. The results showed that the implementation of the School Literacy Movement program at SMPK St Mikhael Brai-Watugong has been running in accordance with the guidelines for the School Literacy Movement set by the Ministry of Education and Culture (Kemendikbud) which consists of three stages, namely the habituation stage where students start reading habits for 15 minutes before the learning process begins, the development stage where students keep a daily literacy journal to prove that students have carried out literacy activities, and the learning stage where students read not only with books from the library but also from other media such as magazines, newspapers, and the internet. The supporting factors for the implementation of the School Literacy Movement program at SMPK St Mikhael Brai-Watugong are cooperation between school members, supervision of literacy activities, and facilities and infrastructure. Meanwhile, the inhibiting factors for the implementation of the School Literacy Movement program are the lack of students' interest in reading and the lack of reading books available at school.

This research explores the meaning of messages in digital communication on social media through a hermeneutic approach. The findings show that message interpretation is strongly influenced by users' personal and social contexts, including cultural backgrounds, life experiences, and individual values. Algorithms that personalize content create 'filter bubbles' that narrow views and reinforce biases, while homogeneous online communities reinforce the meaning of certain messages in 'echo chambers'. Intercultural digital communication often suffers from misunderstandings due to differences in cultural norms and context, but users who frequently interact with other cultures show better adaptation. Emotion and empathy in digital communication often lack depth, with anonymity increasing negative behaviors such as cyberbullying. Social media enables the construction of digital identities and personal narratives that influence the meaning of messages. The implications of this research highlight the importance of digital literacy education, the development of fair algorithms, programs that support intercultural communication, and policies to address cyberbullying. This hermeneutic approach provides important insights for creating a more inclusive, empathetic and effective social media environment.

In compiling this article, a pedescriptive type of research was carried out using a qualitative approach, to obtain an overview of the implementation of basic literacy in elementary schools. Based on the results of interviews conducted by group 6 with school principals, teachers and students at SDN 138 and SDN 190 Pekanbaru, regarding how the implementation of basic literacy is implemented in elementary schools and how programs are implemented to improve basic literacy in two schools, namely Public Elementary School 138 and Public Elementary School 193 Pekanbaru, found similarities and differences in the implementation of basic literacy in these two schools. As for the explanation of the stages of the school literacy movement, the first is the habituation stage. At this stage it can be done by getting used to reading for approximately 15 minutes before learning. To support this activity, of course, schools are expected to be able to provide books other than textbooks and other reading materials so that students are interested in reading. Second, is the development stage, which is the next stage after reading habits begin to form, the development of students' literacy skills can be carried out through various literacy activities.
