Konstanta : Jurnal Matematika dan Ilmu Pengetahuan Alam 2024 International Forum of Researchers and Lecturers

Mathematics is part of the curriculum in Indonesia and has a very important role at every level of education. So that mathematics learning is expected to produce an important contribution in shaping students' character. Mathematics learning should be well designed by inserting character values in learning planning so that the goal of building student character can be achieved. The author will examine one example of realistic mathematics learning. The aim of realistic mathematics learning is to ensure that students not only achieve success in the cognitive aspect, but also experience positive changes in their attitudes and character.

This research is based on the importance of learning realistic mathematics in mathematics. The purpose of this study is to determine the implementation of learning by using realistic mathematics learning models in improving the mathematical understanding of students of class VI MIN 2 Mataram City. PMR is a learning approach to mathematics that involves the reality and experience of students. In mathematics learning students are required to be more active in finding and finding solutions to a problem, so that learning that occurs will be centered on students. The research method used is a qualiative method for collecting data through observation, interviews and documents. The results showed that the application of realistic mathematics learning was effective in increasing students' mathematical understanding in the discovery of mathematical concepts through contextual learning and relevant to daily life. Thus, this research provides a significant involvement in understanding the role of PMR in increasing the mathematical understanding of students as well as part of an effective mathematical learning approach.

This research aims to examine students' abilities in describing mathematical concepts through Realistic Mathematics learning methods that adopt Ethnomathematics principles. This method encourages students to understand mathematical concepts through real-world situations that are relevant to their culture and context. The research was conducted using qualitative and quantitative approaches in a secondary school in Indonesia. Data was collected through classroom observations, interviews with teachers and students, as well as analysis of test results and student assignments. The research results show that the use of Realistic Mathematics Learning Methods that integrate Ethnomathematics principles can significantly improve students' abilities in describing and applying mathematical concepts in the context of everyday life related to their culture. The implication of this research is the importance of integrating cultural aspects in mathematics learning to increase student engagement and understanding of the subject.

The purpose of this study is to describe the results of the analysis of improving students' mathematical communication skills with Realistic Mathematics Education approach. The type of this research is descriptive qualitative research using the library research method. The subject of this research is the most published articles in published journals about mathematical communication skills through Realistic Mathematics Education approach to junior high school students. Based on the findings from 5 journals, it was found that students' mathematical communication improved better in students who studied with Realistic Mathematics Education approach compared to students who studied with conventional learning. Realistic Mathematics Education approach can improve students' ability to describe, understand, and represent mathematical ideas contained in pictures, tables or diagrams. So, Realistic Mathematics Education approach is one approach that can improve students' mathematical communication skills at the junior high school level with effect size score of 1,158 in the large effect category.
