This community service activity aims to increase awareness and independence of elementary school students in maintaining hand hygiene through education on proper handwashing. The background to this activity stems from the low level of handwashing habits among school-age children, despite hand hygiene being a simple action that has a significant impact on preventing infectious diseases. Based on initial observations at Tamanbali 3 Public Elementary School, most students did not yet have the habit of washing their hands before eating or after playing, despite the availability of facilities. Therefore, a hand hygiene education program was implemented, designed to help students understand the importance of proper handwashing according to WHO guidelines. The activity methods included outreach through educational posters and videos, demonstrations of the seven steps of handwashing, mentoring in daily habits, and evaluation of behavioral changes. The results of the activity showed a significant improvement in students' hand hygiene behavior. Students began washing their hands independently before eating and after activities without being reminded by teachers. The school environment also became cleaner and healthier due to the growing awareness of personal hygiene among students. Teachers and the school are committed to continuing this habit as part of the daily classroom routine. This activity demonstrates that hand hygiene education delivered through interactive methods can shape character and hygiene habits from an early age.

In general, school students buy snacks in the school canteen or street vendors (PKL) around the school. 2 The types of food sold are varied, ranging from healthy snacks to unhealthy snacks so that they can attract students to consume school snacks. Healthy snacks are foods that have sufficient and balanced nutrition and do not contain (contaminated) elements that can harm or damage health. This community service activity aims to educate healthy eating patterns to prevent food and drinks containing microbial contamination at Mariana Catholic High School, Medan. The method used is an educational approach through health counseling, interactive discussions, and demonstrations of hygienic practices, especially correct handwashing techniques and the importance of maintaining personal hygiene and the school environment. This activity was attended by 40 students as participants. The evaluation of the activity focused on one main indicator, namely student participation in hygienic behavior practices as a form of direct application of the material that has been given. The results of the activity showed that all participants (100%) followed the demonstrated hygienic practices, which indicates a very high level of participation and enthusiasm. These findings indicate that educational methods accompanied by hands-on practice are effective in increasing understanding and encouraging the adoption of clean and healthy living behaviors. Community service activities at Mariana Catholic High School in Medan have been shown to increase students' knowledge about the dangers of microbial contamination and the development of hygienic behaviors in daily life. Structured and ongoing education is an effective preventive measure to create a healthy and clean school environment.

This study evaluates the Cageur Jasa Health Service Program at the Tanah Tinggi Public Health Center in Tangerang City, which was developed as an innovation to expand access to basic healthcare services through home visits. The program aims to improve service quality, strengthen family independence in maintaining health, and support the achievement of the 12 indicators of the Indonesia Healthy Program with a Family Approach (PIS-PK). The evaluation applies William N. Dunn’s six policy evaluation criteria effectiveness, efficiency, adequacy, equity, responsiveness, and appropriateness supported by theoretical frameworks from public administration, public policy, and health service innovation. This research employs a qualitative descriptive method, with data collected through observation, in-depth interviews with informants, and secondary data analysis. The findings indicate that the program’s implementation has not fully achieved its intended objectives, as evidenced by declining service coverage, several PIS-PK indicators remaining below 50%, increasing disease findings, and the persistence of maternal and infant mortality cases. Limitations in resources, coordination, infrastructure, and suboptimal promotive and preventive efforts further hinder the program’s effectiveness. Overall, the study concludes that although Cageur Jasa contributes to improving healthcare access, its implementation at the Tanah Tinggi Public Health Center remains suboptimal and requires continuous improvement.

Population density plays a critical role in shaping public health outcomes and environmental quality, particularly in rapidly urbanizing regions. This study aims to analyze the relationship between high population density and its impacts on sanitation conditions, air quality, access to clean water, and the incidence of various diseases in densely populated areas. The research adopts a qualitative descriptive approach by combining a comprehensive literature review with field observations conducted in several urban areas characterized by high population concentration. The findings reveal that increased population density is closely associated with environmental degradation, including inadequate sanitation systems, reduced air quality due to pollution, and limited availability of clean water. These environmental challenges contribute directly to a higher prevalence of health problems, such as respiratory infections, waterborne diseases, and other communicable illnesses. Overcrowded living conditions also intensify the spread of diseases, placing additional pressure on public health infrastructure. Furthermore, the study highlights that insufficient public facilities and poor environmental management exacerbate the negative effects of population density on both health and the environment. To address these challenges, effective strategies are required, including population growth control, improved urban planning, and enhanced investment in public health and environmental sanitation facilities. Strengthening community awareness and participation in maintaining environmental cleanliness is also essential. Overall, this study emphasizes the need for integrated policies that balance population management with sustainable environmental and public health development.

Global data shows that more than 60% of adolescents report experiencing moderate to severe stress due to academic and social demands. Physical activity plays an important role in maintaining adolescent mental health. Regular physical activity can stimulate the release of endorphins, improve cognitive function, reduce muscle tension, and reduce levels of cortisol, the main hormone associated with stress. One of the easiest, cheapest, safest, and most accessible forms of physical activity is walking. Walking is a moderate-intensity aerobic activity that has been proven to improve mood, improve sleep patterns, and reduce anxiety. The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of walking as a physical activity on stress disorders in adolescents. The research method used a quasi-experimental design with a pretest-posttest control group approach, involving 44 participants, comprising 22 intervention and 22 control subjects. The walking activity was conducted for three consecutive days, with a duration of 60 minutes, from 16:00 to 17:00 WIB, on 16-18 December 2024. The sample criteria were first-year nursing students in their first semester who performed walking activities continuously for three days. The results showed a significant difference in stress levels before and after the intervention, with a significance level of (Z=-3.557, p=0.000). This means that there was a significant difference in stress levels between before and after the physical activity intervention. The difference in stress levels before and after the intervention in the control group was significant (Z=-1.000, p=0.317). This means that there was no difference in stress levels in the control group. The difference in stress levels between the intervention group and the control group after treatment was significant (Z=-3.445, p=0.001). This indicates that there is a significant difference in stress levels between the intervention group and the control group after the physical activity intervention. Hypertension is one of the main risk factors that can cause damage to target organs, including the eyes. One of the complications that often occur in hypertensive patients is hypertensive retinopathy, which is damage to retinal blood vessels due to a persistent increase in blood pressure. This damage can be progressive and asymptomatic in the early stages, so it often goes undetected until severe visual disturbances appear. This study aims to identify and analyze the role of blood pressure control in the prevention of ocular complications in hypertensive patients through a literature review. The method used is literature review by selecting national and international research articles published in 2021–2025 from the PubMed, ScienceDirect, Google Scholar, and Cochrane Library databases. Inclusion criteria include full-text articles, relevant research designs, and discussing the relationship between blood pressure control and ocular complications. The results of the study showed that uncontrolled blood pressure increased the risk of retinal damage, decreased ocular perfusion, and microvascular changes detected through funduscopy and Optical Coherence Tomography Angiography (OCTA) examinations. Some studies have concluded that stable blood pressure control, not just the average value of blood pressure, has a significant effect in preventing the progression of hypertensive retinopathy. In addition, regular eye exams have been proven to be able to detect retinal changes early, so that preventive interventions can be carried out in a timely manner. Thus, optimal blood pressure control, therapy adherence, healthy lifestyle education, and regular retinal examinations are effective strategies in preventing ocular complications and maintaining vision quality in hypertensive patients.

Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a metabolic disease characterized by elevated blood glucose levels. This condition includes several types, such as type 1 and type 2 diabetes. It occurs when the body is unable to produce enough insulin, experiences impaired insulin function, or faces a combination of both. As a result, glucose cannot be effectively absorbed by the body’s cells and accumulates in the bloodstream, leading to high blood sugar or hyperglycemia. If this condition persists, the buildup of glucose can cause various disorders in different organs. Without proper management, diabetes may lead to severe and life-threatening complications. Chronic hyperglycemia in diabetic patients is associated with long-term damage, dysfunction, and even failure of vital organs such as the eyes, kidneys, nerves, heart, and blood vessels. In this activity, percentage-based methods and demonstrations of blood glucose testing were used as educational tools for students. The results showed that students’ awareness of the dangers of elevated blood sugar levels remains low. Many of them are still unfamiliar with the importance of regular blood glucose monitoring and maintaining a healthy lifestyle to prevent diabetes. Therefore, continuous efforts are needed to provide education and outreach on the prevention and early management of diabetes mellitus.

Elevated blood pressure above the normal range is a hallmark of a medical condition known as hypertension. It is estimated that as the population ages, the number of hypertension cases will also increase. If this condition is properly managed early, it can be controlled. Controlling daily eating habits is one of the most effective non-pharmacological methods for lowering blood pressure. Therefore, finding alternative food sources that can naturally lower blood pressure is crucial. Red dragon fruit (Hylocereus polyrhizus), which is high in fiber, potassium, and antioxidants such as vitamins B, C, and E, is one possible option. These nutrients are important for maintaining blood vessel flexibility and controlling hypertension. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of red dragon fruit juice consumption on blood pressure in the Paku Village Community Health Center (Puskesmas Pembantu) operational area. A single-group pre-experimental design was used in this study. A paired-sample t-test was used to assess the data. Based on the findings, the average systolic blood pressure was 184 mmHg before consuming red dragon fruit juice and decreased to 164 mmHg after the intervention. With a t-value of 23.4, a correlation of 0.96, and a p-value of 0.000 (p < 0.05), this decrease was statistically significant. Meanwhile, the average diastolic blood pressure dropped from 101 mmHg to 84 mmHg, with a correlation of 0.961, a t-value of 18.65, and a p-value of 0.000 (p < 0.05). These results indicate that consuming red dragon fruit juice significantly lowers blood pressure, with an average decrease in systolic pressure of 20 mmHg and diastolic pressure of 17 mmHg.
