This study aims to analyze the strategic role of the Information and Documentation Management Officer (PPID) of the General Elections Commission (KPU) of Palangka Raya City in supporting the strengthening of democracy and public participation at the local level. This research uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive-analytical design through documentary studies on regulations, internal policies of KPU, PPID service reports, and public information request data, enriched with observations of the information service mechanisms both offline and online. The results show that, normatively and structurally, the PPID of Palangka Raya City KPU has carried out its functions in accordance with the provisions of Law No. 14 of 2008 and KPU Regulation No. 22 of 2023. The information service procedures, response time limits, and the use of the E-PPID system reflect the institutional commitment to the principle of transparency. However, the level of utilization of public information services is still relatively low and dominated by the academic community, particularly students. Additionally, there have been no recorded requests for information from disabled groups, despite the provision of disability-friendly facilities. These findings indicate a gap between administrative information openness and substantive public participation. This study concludes that strengthening the role of PPID in the future should be directed toward public communication strategies, political education, and inclusive approaches so that information openness does not stop at regulatory compliance but can make a tangible contribution to the consolidation of a participatory and just local democracy.

The 2024 simultaneous regional elections reaffirm the persistent underrepresentation of women in local politics, despite a gradual rise in female political participation. Amid the dominance of patriarchal political structures, the victory of Dilla Hich as Regent of Tanjung Jabung Timur emerges as a significant phenomenon that reflects a shift in local electoral dynamics while opening broader opportunities for women’s political representation. This study aims to analyze the political strategies employed by Dilla Hich and examine how her identity and social positioning as a woman contributed to her electoral success. Using a qualitative approach with a case study method, data were collected through in-depth interviews, field observations, and documentation from official sources. The findings indicate that Dilla Hich’s success was not solely rooted in her social capital and extensive political networks but also in the adaptive combination of offensive and defensive political strategies she implemented. Offensive strategies were reflected in the expansion of new voter bases and the strengthening of her personal image, while defensive strategies focused on maintaining loyal supporters and consolidating internal networks. Additionally, the strategic use of gender identity enhanced public acceptance of her leadership. This study concludes that Dilla Hich’s victory demonstrates how structured, inclusive, and adaptive political strategies can challenge patriarchal dominance and create greater opportunities for women in local electoral politics.

This study aims to analyze the role of the Election Supervisory Board (BAWASLU) in the implementation of the 2024 Regional Head Election (Pilkada) in Serang Regency, with a particular focus on the mechanisms for resolving electoral disputes during the election process. It also seeks to identify the types of electoral disputes and evaluate the effectiveness of BAWASLU in carrying out its supervisory and quasi-judicial functions at the local level. This research adopts a descriptive qualitative approach using a case study method. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with key stakeholders, direct field observations, and documentation analysis of official reports and BAWASLU decisions. The data were analyzed using the Miles and Huberman interactive model, involving data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. Data validity was ensured through triangulation and member checks. The findings reveal that BAWASLU Serang Regency plays a strategic role in safeguarding the integrity of the regional elections, yet it still faces challenges such as limited human resources, weak adjudication authority, and local political pressure. The disputes that occurred, including the case of the Repeat Voting (PSU), underscore the need for institutional reform. In conclusion, BAWASLU's role is crucial in electoral supervision and dispute resolution, but it requires strengthening in terms of regulations, institutional capacity, and public participation to ensure fair, democratic, and credible elections.

This study examines the capital market reaction at the sectoral level to the 2024 General Election in Indonesia, with the aim of providing deeper insight into how political events influence different industries. Using an event study methodology, the analysis is conducted over a 10-trading-day window surrounding February 14, 2024—the official election date—covering five days before and after the event. The research focuses on six major sectoral indices listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX), namely Energy, Consumer Cyclicals, Financials, Basic Materials, Industrials, and Technology.Market reaction is measured through two primary dimensions: (1) changes in price valuation, represented by abnormal returns (AR), and (2) shifts in investor activity, measured through Trading Volume Activity (TVA), operationalized as the turnover ratio. Abnormal returns capture the extent to which price changes deviate from expected normal performance, while TVA reflects the level of investor engagement in each sector during the event window. To evaluate differences in market reaction across sectors, the Kruskal–Wallis test is applied for abnormal returns due to non-normal data distribution, and Welch’s ANOVA is used for TVA to account for heterogeneity of variances. The results reveal no statistically significant differences in abnormal returns across the six sectors, suggesting that price adjustments to election-related information occur uniformly across the market, reflecting a degree of informational efficiency. However, the analysis of TVA shows a highly significant difference among sectors. A Games–Howell post-hoc test further indicates that the Energy and Consumer Cyclicals sectors experienced notably higher trading activity compared to other sectors, especially the Financials sector, which recorded the lowest investor engagement.

The purpose of this study was to determine the Role of the Election Supervisory Body in the Simultaneous Regional Head Elections in Tasikmalaya Regency in 2024. The method used in this study is a qualitative descriptive research method. This method includes observation, interviews and documentation. Data processing techniques in this study are data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of the study show that the role of the Election Supervisory Body (Bawaslu) has not been running optimally as seen from four dimensions. First, in the dimension of the role as an entrepreneur, Bawaslu experienced obstacles in understanding organizational issues and building relationships with the KPU, which was caused by miscommunication and weak supervision which led to a Revote. Second, in the dimension of the role as a disturbance handler, Bawaslu has not been effective in dealing with unexpected problems, hampered by the pros and cons of the community and the lack of formal and material evidence to follow up on reports of alleged violations. Third, in the dimension of the role as a resource allocator, the use of funding sources has not been optimal because the Revote resulted in the use of previous funds being inefficient. Finally, in terms of its role as a negotiator, Bawaslu has not been effective when participating in negotiations because it often takes a long time. The efforts that must be made are to strengthen communication and coordination between Bawaslu and the KPU, increase transparency and supervision during the election process, improve the system for collecting evidence of alleged violations and accelerate the negotiation process so that the decision-making process runs more efficiently. Based on the results of the study above, it can be concluded that the Role of the Election Supervisory Body in the Simultaneous Regional Head Elections in Tasikmalaya Regency in 2024, overall, is still not running optimally.

Political participation is a right and not an obligation for citizens. Political participation is the involvement of citizens in making general policies and determining government leaders. There are many types of political participation, from conventional to non-conventional. However, in developing countries including Indonesia, voting in general elections is the main political participation. After that, there is no more participation. In fact, participation should be carried out as long as politics and government exist. Especially for students who are classified as novice voters as agents of change and future political leaders.
