The Pantai Indah Pohe tourist area in Pohe Village, Gorontalo City, holds significant potential as a premier coastal tourism destination. However, challenges such as a lack of adequate location markers and insufficient visual promotion strategies hinder its development. To address these issues, a community service initiative was carried out by the D4 Architecture and Building Construction (ABG) Program at Gorontalo State University. The initiative aimed to enhance the visual image of the area and foster greater community involvement in promoting local tourism. The project adopted a participatory approach, actively engaging the village government, tourism awareness groups, and residents of various age groups. The activities involved creating and installing a new signage system for the "Pantai Indah Pohe" area, which serves as a crucial element for enhancing the visibility of the tourist spot. In addition, community engagement was facilitated through events such as coloring contests and sack races, aimed at promoting a sense of unity and local pride. The outcomes of this initiative revealed an increase in community awareness regarding the importance of visual promotion for tourism. It also fostered stronger social connections between local residents and academics, contributing to the community’s sense of ownership and pride in their local resources. Furthermore, the initiative provided tangible contributions to the strengthening of the local identity, with community members actively participating in the improvement process. The project aligns with Community-Based Tourism (CBT) principles and placemaking theory, which emphasize the importance of community involvement in shaping tourist destinations. This community service activity serves as an exemplary model of integrating architectural design, education, and sustainable tourism development, showcasing how academic and community collaboration can drive positive changes in local tourism promotion.

Thailand, a developing country in Southeast Asia, is striving to enhance its value and position on the world stage through the tourism industry. A country with a majority Buddhist population, Thailand is developing Halal Tourism as a new strategy to attract Muslim travelers. The development of halal tourism in Thailand is driven not only by economic motives but also non-economic considerations. Economically, the Thai government aims to open new destinations and expand the market to meet Muslim tourists' needs. A unique aspect is that Thailand has a minority Muslim population with a history of tension, especially in the Southern region. The government involves Southern Thai communities in halal tourism development, demonstrating efforts to create an inclusive society. This strategy is expected to ease political tensions that have existed due to economic disparities. By involving minority groups in tourism development, the Thai government hopes to achieve long-term peace and improve the country's positive image. The approach represents a strategic attempt to transform potential conflict zones into economic opportunities, using tourism as a tool for social integration and economic development.

This research examines the bottom-up approach to maritime tourism policy in South Sulawesi, primarily focusing on collaboration and policy integration. This method involves the local community as the primary stakeholder who can determine the potential and needs of maritime tourism in their area. Data was collected through interviews with the South Sulawesi Provincial Culture and Tourism Office and analysis of relevant documents. The research results indicate that policy collaboration is carried out through cooperation between the government, namely the South Sulawesi Provincial Culture and Tourism Office, local actors, and the private sector. Furthermore, integrating inter-sectoral policies ensures that the development of tourism proceeds synergistically by considering several aspects, such as economic, social, and environmental factors. The bottom-up approach also supports the sustainability of maritime tourism through several empowerment initiatives for local communities. They should also be involved in the management of maritime tourism destinations and the promotion of local products. It can be concluded that a bottom-up approach involving inter-sectoral cooperation and policy integration encourages the development of sustainable maritime tourism while still paying attention to several aspects, such as local economic empowerment, social welfare, and environmental preservation.

This research aims to find out the impact of owning coastal areas which are used as tourist attractions. This research is empirical research because it places primary data in the community as the main data which is analyzed descriptively qualitatively. The results of the research show that the impact of ownership of coastal areas that are used as tourist attractions triggers violations because this control is linked to the control of coastal areas of indigenous communities, and is then recognized by law. This then results in a conflict of interest because coastal people tend to carry out activities and work at sea, and utilize these aquatic resources as a target to fulfill their daily needs. The economic activities of residents on the coast who tend to work as fishermen and farmers are certainly not used to other activities. Meanwhile, tourism development in villages that have the potential for beautiful marine and coastal resources generally aims to introduce and utilize, even improve the quality of natural objects and attractions. This then also causes losses to the government and local communities because apart from having an impact on the physical environment which experiences a decline due to human activity at the tourist location itself, all income and benefits are also received in full by the business owner. In this condition, the village government does not get any share, because tourist attractions are recognized as private property.

The promotion and marketing efforts by the Tourism Office of Karimun Regency aim to introduce and effectively promote local tourist destinations to both domestic and international visitors. According to a previous study by Andriani (2020), the development of tourist sites in Karimun Regency has not yet been fully realized by the local government. This research aims to reexamine and optimize Karimun's tourism potential through programs implemented by the Tourism Office, supporting local economic changes. This study uses a descriptive method with a qualitative approach, gathering data through interviews with informants, field notes, and relevant official documents. It focuses on examining the promotion strategies carried out by the Tourism Office to increase tourist visits. Based on Kooten's theory, there are four strategic indicators: organizational strategy, program organization, resource support strategy, and institutional strategy. The research results show that all strategic indicators have been implemented well in accordance with funding from the center, providing a positive impact on the development of tourist destinations and increasing the number of tourists who come to visit tourist attractions in Karimun district. However, if funding is not in accordance with the annual plan, the program that has been prepared by the marketing and promotion division will have an impact, hampering efforts to increase tourist visits from both inside and outside Karimun Regency.
