This study examines the politeness strategies used in interactions among sisters in Louisa May Alcott’s novel Little Women. Using Brown and Levinson’s (1987) politeness theory as an analytical framework, this study identifies and classifies the forms of politeness strategies that emerge in the conversations of the four main characters: Meg, Jo, Beth, and Amy March. The research data consists of dialogic utterances purposively selected from the novel’s text. The results indicate that all four politeness strategies on record, positive politeness, negative politeness, and off record are present in the interactions among the sisters, with positive politeness being the most dominant. The dominance of this strategy reflects the closeness of their relationship, solidarity, and mutual respect among the characters. Additionally, the choice of politeness strategies is also influenced by factors such as social distance, age differences, and situational context. This study contributes to the understanding of language use in a literary context, particularly in depicting the dynamics of family relationships through character interactions.

Sumbersari Village is one of the few places where child marriage is still a problem. Children's mental health, education, and future prospects are all negatively impacted by this practice. The KKN (Community Service Program) group organizes community service projects that teach fifth and sixth graders about the dangers of child marriage and give them the opportunity to socialize. One of the strategies used is a question and answer session with incentives to increase student engagement, as well as presenting material in simple language and facilitating interactive conversations. The results show that students' interest and knowledge about child marriage risks increases. This activity has limitations due to its limited reach, especially for elementary school children, and the relatively basic nature of the subject matter. Therefore, for initiatives to combat child marriage to be more successful and sustainable, follow-up programs involving parents, adolescents, and community leaders are essential. Collaboration with relevant parties is needed to create deeper policies, as well as increase awareness of the importance of women's education and empowerment in preventing child marriage.

This study employed a descriptive qualitative approach using a case study design to explore the psychological impacts of traffic accidents on victims. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews and direct observation, then analyzed using thematic analysis techniques. The findings indicate that the main trauma-related symptoms include intense negative thoughts or emotions, such as sudden fear, nausea, and mood changes characterized by increased sadness and irritability. Additionally, sleep disturbances were observed, including vivid nightmares, flashbacks when attempting to sleep, and physical reactions such as heart palpitations. Avoidance behaviors were also noted, such as avoiding the accident location, rarely leaving the house, and avoiding conversations related to the accident. Traffic accidents are sudden, unexpected events that can cause not only physical injuries but also profound psychological impacts, including fear, excessive anxiety, nightmares, and symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). If left untreated, these psychological disorders may interfere with daily functioning and significantly reduce the quality of life of the victims, making early intervention crucial for recovery.

Fifth grade students' consistently poor reading comprehension abilities, which impeded their overall academic development and participation in language acquisition, served as the driving force for this study. Using a comic assisted problem based learning (PBL) model, the study, which involved 39 students at SDN Purwamekar, aimed to improve learning activities in order to increase teacher and student participation and, eventually, improve fifth grade students' reading comprehension skills. By using comic strips to illustrate issues, this creative method made learning more engaging and accessible for younger students. In order to enable iterative improvements, the study was conducted over two cycles using classroom action research technique. Only 25% of students (eight people) successfully completed the learning objectives in the first cycle, according to preliminary findings, while 75% (24 students) failed, suggesting difficulties with student motivation and comprehension. This led to changes like improving comic material and fostering more cooperative conversations. Significant progress was seen by the second cycle, with 30 students meeting the completion criteria and only four falling short of the objectives, indicating improved engagement and skill growth. In conclusion, the comic assisted PBL model effectively boosted reading comprehension skills among fifth grade students. The research underscores the value of integrating visual aids and problem solving in education, offering practical insights for teachers to create more dynamic classrooms. Nonetheless, factors like time constraints and resource availability warrant further exploration to ensure sustainable implementation in diverse educational settings.

This community service activity was conducted in a Christian ministry institution located in Makassar City, South Sulawesi. The Student Creativity Program (PKM) was motivated by the reality that many people in Makassar have not yet known or believed in Isa Al-Masih (Jesus Christ )as Lord and Savior. As a city with a predominantly non-Christian population, evangelism in Makassar needs to be carried out contextually, wisely, and lovingly, without offending the beliefs of the surrounding community. The “PI 3 Saja” method (an acronym for Evangelism anytime, anywhere, and to anyone) serves as a relevant and effective strategy for reaching out to society. Through the 5P approach (Pertalian—Relationship, Peralihan—Transition, Penginsafan—Conviction, Pengabaran—Proclamation, and Penyelesaian—Commitment), this method emphasizes the importance of friendship, empathy, and naturally sharing the Gospel in everyday conversations. The purpose of this activity was to train participants in the institution to become contextual evangelists who can share the Good News without coercion, but rather through exemplary living and genuine friendship with others. The training and field practice results showed positive responses from the community, the formation of small discipleship groups (house churches), and an increased sense of courage and sensitivity among participants in sharing the Gospel in non-Christian environments. This activity demonstrates that evangelism can remain relevant and effective when it prioritizes love, relationships, and sensitivity to local culture.

This Community Service Program aims to strengthen the basic English language skills of children aged 5-12 in RW 03 Kalibaru, Cilincing, North Jakarta. Initial observations revealed low vocabulary mastery and a lack of confidence in communication among these children. With foreign language literacy rates for primary school-aged children in coastal North Jakarta at only 27.5%, non-formal educational intervention is crucial to support their school learning. As part of a university community service program (KKN), this initiative was carried out over three meetings with 30 children. The method used was Participatory Action Research (PAR), which emphasizes active collaboration between program facilitators and the community. The program's implementation included introducing basic materials such as the alphabet, numbers, colors, and vocabulary related to animals and family members, as well as practicing simple conversations like self-introductions and greetings. The learning methods applied were highly interactive, integrating educational games, songs, visualization, and role-playing. The evaluation, using pre-test and post-test instruments, showed a significant improvement in the participants' understanding. The average initial score increased sharply from 68.5 to 85.7, representing a 17.2-point or approximately 25% increase. This improvement proves the effectiveness of the interactive methods used in strengthening material mastery. Furthermore, the program successfully fostered an inclusive and enjoyable learning environment. A social change was observed in the form of increased self-confidence among the children when using English, a willingness to speak in front of their friends, and positive interactions among participants. Overall, this program not only succeeded in enhancing basic English skills but also fostered social transformation through increased confidence and positive interaction. Although challenges such as varying levels of understanding and limited learning media were encountered.

Language contact that occurs in a multilingual society causes various linguistic events. One of these linguistic events is the language shift that occurs among children in Bantik Sumoit Village. This study aims to describe how the Bantik language shift occurs, the factors causing the Bantik language shift, and efforts to overcome the Bantik language shift among children in Bantik Sumoit Village, Bolaang Timur District. This study uses a qualitative descriptive research type located in Bantik Sumoit Village, Bolaang Timur District. The data collection technique used is by listening to direct conversations from children while recording and noting important things during the interaction process. Then data analysis is carried out by transcribing, reading, selecting data, identifying data, grouping/classifying, and making conclusions. The results of the study show that the use of the Bantik language has experienced a significant shift which is marked by indicators such as the replacement of traditional languages by other languages and the emergence of an imbalance in its use. This indicator indicates that language shift occurs when the use of the first and second languages becomes unbalanced. If this balance is lost, there are two possibilities that can occur. First, the first language persists despite the influence of the second language. Second, the first language is replaced by the second language until it is no longer used. This is influenced by a number of factors, namely education, socio-economic conditions, environment, and family. Efforts to overcome language shift include: adding Bantik language as a local content subject (mulok) in schools, the active role of parents in using regional languages in the family environment, and increasing public awareness of the importance of preserving regional languages in everyday life.
